72 /100 54 THE CRESCENT Hmm, nobody seems to have rated this place yet – so I’d better try and remember what it was like !
Firstly, although it is in Willenhall, it is nowhere near the town centre. Take the Walsall bus 3 or 4 stops and get off just before the traffic lights. Cross the road and head down the road running across. It’s about 5 mins walk, but you have to cross a pretty major road on the way. You can see it from a way off however, because it’s painted the usual Black Country Ales cream colour !
Normally the entrance is directly onto the main road. However, at the moment that entrance is closed and you have to go round the side to the car park entrance. That is annoying because the actual bar is directly inside the front door v! Now you have to walk around the back of the serving area before you get to it. Décor is the usual Black Country cream, with beamed ceiling and prints on the walls. There is laso a large beer garden out back – which surprised me.
As usual the bar has a mix of Black Country Ales, ciders and guest beers. Not sure of the actual number here – maybe 8 or 9 ? Anyway, the beer I had was of very good quality.
Plenty of staff here (I counted at least 4), and they were very efficient. Certainly one of the better Black Country Ales establishments. It’s a bit of a b****r to get to though !

64 /100 Malthouse (JDW) (Bar) THE DALE, NEW ROAD Large cinema conversion with a small impersonal area as you walk in that opens out into an open plan main hall. It’s spacious and well decorated. Two rows of ale pumps are on the bar. |
