74 /100 Whole Hog (Bar) 8 MARKET CROSS Note: pre-lockdown visit. Historic-looking place in an enviable position just outside the abbey and next to the market cross. Yet another one the blokes of the family took advantage of whilst the ladies went to (yet another) craft fayre. I'm really starting to like craft fayres due to the pub potential they offer! The left hand side of the pub is a bustling restaurant (which, according to relatives who live locally is pretty decent). The right hand side is a nice traditional laud back no frills sort of pub - 6 real (mainly local) ales, a couple of local ciders, a friendly barman, and a smattering of amiable regulars talking nonsense to pass the time. I liked it a lot; I'd be very happy to have this as my local. |
