“Small tap room in an industrial complex. About 10 taps. The beer was all good. No food, but food trucks near by. Layed back and good service.“

“Visited on 15th December 2022, lunchtime, but didn’t eat. Nice place on the seafront, single story but with an outlook over the sea. Flights or pints, only their own beers, but loads of ticks for me. It’s modern, neat and tidy, liked it. Our server was very good and found out about the two ‘special’ brews they had on when I asked the ABV and full names of the beers.“

“Visited on 15th December 2022, early afternoon, with my good lady and two friends. It’s upstairs in a small tourist shopping mall, easy to find. We sat overlooking the street and watched people go by as we drank our beers. 16 taps, no flights. Decent options with some local stuff to tick. Wooden and friendly.“

“This is probably the original Maui Brewing location. In a deserted strip north of Lahaina, the place is very old school and dated. Selection is not as good as the main location. 4 X 4 ounces sample for 10.50$. Tends to be more conservative than the other location. The flatbread sure looked good. If in Lahaina...“

“Decent pub on the Front street strip. 20 taps, pretty decent selection, prices ok for the location. No samples offered, and no flights. Food is pub grub.“

“Located in an industrial sector, this brewery has plenty of parking space, for free. Service was friendly and prompt. 4 ounces sample vary from 3$ to 3.75$. 6 of their beers on tap when I visited plus guest taps and 3 kombucha taps. Beers are well done if a bit mundane. You can order food from outside. Wifi was not working.“

“Small warehouse in Lahaina. There is a small bar and tables. About 10 beers on tap, half regulars, half specials. Mostly light styles. Their pineapple blond was delicious. No food. One of the only breweries on the island (besides Maui) so it's definitely worth a stop. As a heads up, they do not have a bathroom in the warehouse, you have to walk to a separate building for that!“

“Warehouse location behind a small strip mall, surrounded by dive shops. Tasting bar and some bar tables in the front end of the production facility. Brewer had to interrupt his brewing to come pour me a flight, thanks for that. Seven beers on offer, flights of four or six are possible. I had it when the math doesn't work out. Crowlers and growlers available as well. Beer quality seems to have improved since prior reviews, the pilsner was the stand out - a good sign. Food is chips/crisps. Somewhat noisy from a giant fan and loud music (which can be forgiven on brew day). Worth a look.“

“In the far corner of a strip mall, so there was plenty of parking. It looked closed from a distance, but as I got closer it turns out the places on either side of it are closed (as in, for lease). Inside is a bit dark, large square bar on one side and the rest is restaurant tables. Sadly no outdoor seating. Twenty of their beers on offer, eight regulars and 12 seasonals or small batches. Just two guests, a cider and a beer, plus a few CA bottles to go (Bruery and something else I can't remember). One beer available here was not available yesterday at the brewery. Four ounce pours or flights of four are possible for any beer, only the price varies (this wasn't possible at the brewery itself, where I couldn't include a 10+% Belgian strong in my flight; here I could, and since I didn't like it, I only had to deal with 4 ounces of it!). Food was decent bar/pub food. Staff were OK. If you can only visit one, go to the brewery.“

“Near the north end of the Ka’anapali beach walk and mere steps from the water. Beautiful atmosphere, but insanely busy the two times we stopped in. They’ve added a couple more draft lines since the last review, but nothing remarkable was pouring. Better food than expected and good service even though it was so busy. Worth stopping in for a meal (make a reservation if possible), but not worth it just for the beer.“

“Charmless warehouse style store. Hardly any staff aside from the one person at the checkout and one behind the deli counter. On the plus side, there is a fairly broad selection of US west coast micros along with a few select imports. Nearly everything is refrigerated, which was nice to see.“

“This chain is the next best option for bottled beer on the island after Whole Foods (one store is here, a slightly inferior one is in Kahului, and someday there will be one in Kihei). First and foremost a wine store, and in fact I was at first asking myself "where the heck is the beer?" as I walked up and down aisle after aisle. The obvious cooler has sixers and cases, but there were no singles to be found at first glance. But yes, there is a section (both warm shelf and cooled) with singles nearest the deli side of the store. Lots of the usual stuff you see in Hawaii...CA/OR/WA micros, some imports, Hawaiian stuff of course...just more diversity than you will find most anywhere else (this location is almost as good as WF). Not quite a mecca or anything, and many bottles are old, but good luck finding better on Maui.“

“Hopefully they will improve with time, but these first batches from a fellow (Justin, if memory serves) from CA who has only homebrewed to date were pretty rough. In a warehouse in Lahaina proper, just off the main highway. No food other than complementary pretzels. Christine was the only one there during my visit, and she was extremely polite and open with details about the brewery. I hate to give a poor rating to good people with good intentions, but in all honesty the quality just isn’t there yet. Rough malt abounds, and none of them were what I could call enjoyable. Will probably return in several years to see if they’ve found their way, since it’s pretty neat to see another brewery finally open on the island.“

“1-15-16 Re-rate: It appears I visit this place every 4 years or so. I was here in Dec. 2011 but didn’t re-rate it. Place hasn’t changed much in the last 4 years, which is understandable now that Maui Brewing has moved their primary brewing operations to a new location in Kihei. This spot is still great despite the lack of outdoor seating, which is mitigated somewhat by going in the evening! They are up to something like 19 beers, all of which are their own but of which 4-5 are copycats or collabs with other brewers. The place was busy and since it’s a haul to get to Kihei with traffic these days I hope they keep this place operating. 2-20-07: I was last here 4 years ago when it was Fish and Game Rotisserie or something like that. Despite the name and logo change, the place hasn’t changed a bit in 4 years. Located in the corner of a nice strip mall that also features Roy’s; located less than 5 miles north of Kaanapali beach. Dark interior; padded bar stools which I recall were new when I was here in 2003, but seem a little worse for the wear now. I wish the place had outdoor seating. It’s a bit depressing to be inside in a dark bar when it’s beautiful outside. The beer is hit and miss. Of the 8 beers I had in the sampler, 4-5 were very good and 3-4 were forgettable. The hoppy ales were excellent; the doppelbock and imperial stout were disappointments. The brewer clearly knows what he’s doing. If you’re on Maui, don’t miss it.“

“Off the main strip in Lahaina, in the industrial shop area. Basically a warehouse. Decent, not outstanding service. Good range for what was available in Lahaina. Lots of SoCal stuff, Oregon, and some good Euro stuff. Pretty well balanced. Massive wine, liquor and sake selection. Poorly signed though. Good food as there is a deli next to the beers. Real good Poke there. Best place to buy in Lahaina. Bar none. Good pricing on pretty much all beers“

“Beachside location about 3 or so miles from downtown Lahaina. As selections and choice go, this is probably the 2nd best venue in the area after Maui Brewings brewpub. 3 or 4 HI beers on tap allied to offerings from Anderson Valley, North Coast, SN and others, breaks up the monotony a little. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, we opted for the latter, good service and was happy to give samples and chat about beer (or lack of in HI!). Food was also very good. Part of the same chain that owns Dukes a little further up the beach (they also had the Kona house beer for Dukes on tap here). Definately worth seeking this venue out if in the area.“

“Visited on 23/04/14 around 3pm. The brewpub is a modern (ish) facility at the edge of a mall about 5 or so miles from downtown Lahaina. 18 of their own beers on tap with quite a few seasonal/one offs that don’t get canned or widely distributed. $6 for 4 x 4oz samplers made the ticking pretty effortless. We sat at the bar which has a tray of crushed ice built into it to keep your drinks chilled! The place was fairly busy considering it was twixt lunch and dinner and the service was friendly and efficient. Didn’t eat a full blown meal but grazed on sliders which were tasty enough. They offer a full bar servce with a range of cocktails also. Solid stop if in the area, probably the one go to destination on the island.“

“Supermarket in downtown Lahaina. This would be no go to destination elsewhere in the states but as I found when hunting down new ticks in Lahaina, each of the supermarkets carry something a little different to the others and this place also does some singles, where as others didn’t! Couple of beers from Clown Shoes in the fridge as well as a few HI offerings and more common stuff from the likes of Sierra Nevada.“

“Suburban place in a strip mall with zero character, but it does have a bar you can sit at and there were some locals there. A guy sitting next to me ordered a slice of pizza. It looked like it came out of a 7-11 microwave. We came during happy hour and I wanted to take advantage of the prices so didn’t get a sampler and instead ordered pints. Decent beer selection.“

“Part of the same group who own Dukes, Hula Grill and Lellani’s on the beach, therefore you will get a few craft keg offerings from the mainland that you likely won’t see in the average bar on Maui. Beer from Lost Coast and Deschutes on tap, allied to the usual offerings from Maui Brewing and Kona. They also have a rotating local and seasonal tap, I picked up Kona’s Castaway IPA here, the only place I found this during our stay in Maui. Lcation is great, right on the main seafront strip and on the edge of the sea, we sat upstairs with a commanding view looking out to sea. Service was good as was the food - fresh fish sandwich with fries. Another place I wouldn’t look to add on the mainland but in Maui this place is worth a look for a potential tick.“

“Visited on Saturday 26/04/14, located just off the beach along the beach walk in Ka’anapali about half way between Maui Brewing Co’s brewpub and Leilani’s, the 2 best beer venues on the island (approx 35 minutes walk from each, but a nice walk). 6 taps dispensing a couple of Deschutes beers, allied to Maui Brew Co and Kona (Lava Man Red - which was a tick for me and I didn’t see this anywhere else during my stay). Yes - no magnetic draw here on the tap list, but by Maui standards probably the 3rd or 4th best bar of the dozen or so I visited in terms of selection! Service was good, an attentive bar man who took time to chat with us whilst being busy at the same time, the setting is second to none. If you’re from Europe and haven’t ticked any Deschutes beers - perhaps worth a visit, for the diehard ticker from you may collect a tick as I did with Lava Man Red but more so Kona also do a special for this chain (same as Leilani’s, Hula Grill and other Dukes) called Duke’s blonde. It wasn’t on during my visit but was at Leilani’s! Unless you have lots of time, not somewhere to go out of the way for, but if you’re doing the beach walk worth popping in! “

“Visited on 23/04/14 in the morning. Someone had alluded to the fact that Safeway offered singles in their (now 2 year old review) of Foodland. On this tip I though I’d check it out but sadly no longer the case, all 6 packs with the exception of a few bombers. I felt it worth adding this venue for 2 reasons, on beer shy Maui, firstly there were beers available here I haven’t seen seen elsewhere in this area, secondly the prices were a good $ or 2 cheaper than the more upmarket Foodland. You can sign up for a free members card there and then, this saves money on both food and drink and knocked the price of my 3 Big Island bombers down from $11 each to $8 each - a tidy $9 saving on those alone! Beers include all the common Maui and Kona offerings, 3 bombers from the excellent (having had 2 of them) Big Island brewery, various CA big players in the macro world, namely SN, and a few of the other bigger boys from the mainland such as Founders, Rogue and a few others. On a par with Foodland for sure!“

“Your average brewpub, but on Hawaii. They have a huge list of beers of which I think only 4 are available in cans on the island. I had two tasters (8 beers) which wasn’t even half of the ones they carry. All of them were good, but not great. To me their coconut porter is still their best brew, surprisingly. Don’t go there for the food. We had the chili and some buffalo wings, both weren’t particularly good.“

“Located in a strip mall north of Lahaina, the brewpub was an easy find right off the highway and very close to the resort I was staying at in Ka’anapali which was convenient for a few visits during my week there. The ambiance is fairly plain by modern brewpub standards. It has the nuevo-industrial decor vibe going on with there being very little, if any, Hawaiian elements one would expect. Not sure if they are trying to downplay that aspect or avoid the touristy elements common elsewhere. EIther way, I wasnt disappointed but neither was I impressed with the place. There was a huge selection of their brewers lineup available - I did not count but it was at least in the high teens. A couple of very nice guest taps from California. The sampler was limited to a measly 4 selections and they would not bring two out at once - a little off putting to say the least. The beer was pleasing, the waitstaff was slow and uninformed, the seating was spacious. Food selection was decent fare, nothing that stood out but it was reasonably priced and diverse enough for my needs. A very nice place that I would make a point to visit whenever the opportunity arises, but I feel that if they could try just a bit harder they could make this place stellar.“

“Visited for dinner in May, 2012. There are two sections to Leilani’s, the outdoor more casual area, and the indoor a bit fancier area. We ate indoors, since our kids were starving. They accommodated our family quite well, and the beer selection was well above the Maui average. Food was fine, a bit pricey for what you got. Not necessarily a beer destination, but a decent choice when in Ka’anapali. Barefoot Bar across the way is great too.“

“Decent little spot to grab a bite to eat, but the reason to come here is the awesome selection of Maui beers, many of which were quite good in my opinion. While the brewery only had the ones that they can in the tasting room when we visited, the brewpub had 16 Maui beers, plus 4 or 5 guest taps! Fantastic! They offered four taster flights for the ticking inclined as well! If you think Maui makes a nice beer, and most people I know do (particularly the Coconut Porter, which is hard not to like), I’d definitely recommend a stop in here to try their draft only offerings.“

“Dinner and beers with the family on a Sunday night. The space is big and open, pretty loud and boisterous. It’s a well designed room, though you would have no indication that you are in Maui (hardly any windows). The service we had was knowledgeable and attentive. I was impressed by the size and range of the beer list, they had 13 Maui beers on + 4 guest taps. Overall, well worth the visit when in Maui. NOTE ABOUT LOCATION: I was initially a tad confused with the Lahaina address - the brewpub is not located in Lahaina town, rather in the Kapuala area, approximately 5 miles north of Kannapali.

82 = ★★★½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“
