66 /100 Benediktinerabtei Ettal Klosterladen (Beer Store) KAISER-LUDWIG-PLATZ 1 The Klosterladen is just inside the gate, to the right of the basilica entrance. It is a gift shop and bookstore, but they have all of the brewery products as well. All of the beers can be bought singly, or in 3-pack mixes, including their special beers. The prices are high, compared to the liquor stores in Oberammergau, but they have the full range or beers. This is a great place to visit, and it's always nice to find good beer in places you don't expect! |
64 /100 KAISER LUDWIG PLATZ 1 A classic Bavarian brewpub located in the scenic village of Ettal. Seems fairly touristic, but nothing wrong with service or food. Just that they didn't have quite a few beers which were on the menu although the menu said nothing about them being seasonals. Fun place! |
78 /100 Cafe Restaurant Edelweiss (Restaurant) KAISER-LUDWIG-PLATZ 3 Visited on a slow Monday afternoon. There is street parking available. The outside looks like what you would imagine a traditional German beer bar/restaurant to look like. Inside looks just as broken in and old as the outside. It has a nice home-y feel to it. The service here was excellent. Our waitress was able to take our order in english very easily, and checked in on us a couple times. The food was all traditional german fare. I had the sausages and sauerkraut and the house hells and dunked. All was great! I would recommend stopping in here if you find yourself in the town of Ettal. It is a small town, but this place and the monastery behind it make it a worthwhile visit. |
