“A traditional Gaststube absolutely packed to the rafters on a Thursday evening. Everyone knows everyone here so the atmosphere was very convivial and warm. Waitresses are also very friendly and the brewmaster went out of his way to find the rest of the ratings I needed to take away in bottles. Lager vom Holzfass and a very good Pils on draught as well. Great place!“

“Large Gasthof in the centre of the village next to the church. The décor inside the restaurant is a little too bright and plain for my taste and the beer garden is rather bare-bones as well. They serve Reckendorfer beer here as well as the fantastic Keesmann Herrenpils and Schlenkerla Märzen for a slight mark-up. The service seemed a little swamped on an admittedly rather busy Sunday evening, but waiting for over 10 minutes for a refill is stretching it a bit. Nevertheless, good beer, good food, good value and friendly waiters.“

“A small Keller about a 15 minute walk from the village. The setup is rather bare-bones, with only about 10 beer benches outside and mostly cold food options. The lovely view and their filling and moreish Kellerbier definitely merit a visit here if you're in the area though. Great value for money as well.“

“Wagnerbräu is a bit of an enigma for me. Bottles purchased from the brewery cold room were in remarkably good condition (3.9 pils, 3.5 rauch), while the gravity barrel Ungespundetes was muted, a little muddy and characterless. Usually it’s the other way around, bottles stinking and fresh pours at the source excelling, but not on our visit. The brewer is younger than most, very friendly and welcoming and willing to show us the facilities and answer our questions.“

“Very pretty keller up on a hill overlooking fields and orchards, we were there on a grey Tuesday evening so we were alone with the staff, but I imagine this place gets quite busy on a sunny weekend. The beer was tasty but not the best, and we didn’t eat here. Really nice place to enjoy the view however.“

“Stopped by here by accident on our way to Wagner. Nice little biergarten that seats 150 people. They were open for lunch so we had a half chicken for 5 euros, pretty good bargain. They had Reckendorf kellerbier vom fass, a little closer to Bamberg than actually making your way up there. They also have Schlenkerla, Keesman and other seasonals. Prices were quite decent and the staff was friendly. Nice accidental discovery, and the rooms look really cheap, might stay here next time.“

“Never mind the brewery tap, go to the Keller! It’s a bit hard to find - past the brewery and its biergarten, over the bridge, down a dirt track and up a hill. The views are great though and so is the beer - we found Pils, Weisse and Keller all on tap. Extensive pub-grub menu and very helpful service. Also a playground (and sweets!) for the kids. Wonderful!“

“Visited July 2013. There’s a very nice view of Kemmern and countryside from this hillside keller in the woods. You buy your beer and food at a window. The Pils was better than the Kellerbier in my opinion. The Kellerbier was a whopping €3.60 for a liter krug, about the same price as a half litre of beer in the north of Germany.“

“Over the river and through the woods... and up a hill. Plenty of picnic table seating, with a playground just below the seating. Self serve beer and food, and a damn good kellerbier. Awesome location with an excellent view of the town below and surrounding countryside. A very easy bike ride from Bamberg.“

“The last beer stop on a long bicycle trip. We had to head back to Bamberg before it became too dark. (Fantastic bikes at 10 Euro a day from Rent-a-bike Bamberg) The brew pub was crowded by locals eating and drinking. A really good Ungespundetes Lagerbier and Kuckuck (Smoked) The latter from bottle. Beer and bike in nice weather in Franken - what else can you demand? (Visited April 29th 2012)“

“We had been cycling a lot this day. Nice patio to sit down in. Only tried their pils which were quite nice. Popular place, but did not stay long.“

“Visited March 2012. The sun was shining and it was warm enough for people to sit outside on this March day. I was sat at a table with an older couple who were upset that they had Pils on draught instead of Ungespundetes. I tried two draught beers and two bottles, all of a high quality, especially the Pils and Zwilling. Their rauch bier, Kuckuck, was on draught also, along with a weizen. I moved inside to eat to their pleasant if too light and piny tap room. Good value. There are infrequent regional buses to Bamberg that stop at the Markusplatz.“

“Across the river Main from Kemmern, which can be reached by bus from Bamberg. Walk past the church to the river, cross the bridge, turn right, you’ll be able to spot the Keller against the forest edge on your left. Quite a distance, but worth the effort. (f you do not feel up to it, the brewery itself in Kemmern also has some outdoor seating.) Beer and food are self-service, as usual. Attention: the proximity map is wrong.“

“The pub was closed for holidays, but the brewery was open and a brewery worker gladly sold me a mixed sixpack. Patio looked inviting. Very nice for cyclists to pass by and grab a beer or two.“

“Greater, quite modern Gasthof with a Brauerei in the backyard. A patio invites bikers, hikers and locals during the warm season. Good for a short break.“

“Beautifully located franconian Bierkeller on a little hill with good views into the countryside. Wagner-Bräu is served in steins, if You get hungry, take a Leberkäs’, some Würstel mit hausgemachtem Kartoffelsalat and be happy. Nice place, worth a stop !“
