“Visited with my good lady midday on Saturday 16th October 2021. Pleasant old building and very busy, upstairs closed though. Had a flight of their two beers and a shandy! The guest tap had Duckstein Wheatbeer, so I had that too. Typical old school German brewpub with two predestination brews, sadly it's still the only place in Wismar for the chance of a new rate.“

“We stopped here for a solid German size meal and their three beers. The place was quite busy and noisy on a Saturday early afternoon, so service was a bit slow. Classic dark wood interior. The beers were pretty average.“

“Very busy on a Tuesday, was ignored and a old lady squeezed through in front of me. Lovely patio in front of the brewpub, with a view of the picturesque surroundings. Rustic and dark woody interiors. Even how, when I had the English spoken bartender on the hook I ordered everything as well as paied for everything in on go;). 3 own on tap, more to take home. The Pils was very fresh bready;)“

“Located in the very beautiful old house this is a typical German brewpub - you get all you come to expect from such places - classic interiors, great food & wonderful beers(3). The city is very nice also - quite worth a visit.“

“Visited early July 201. Nice big traditional Brewpub with a big terrass outside. Stayed for lunch and tried their beers on tap. The food was outstanding, and the portions were huge. Service was a bit slow but the place was also very crowded. The Brewpub was decorated with hops in the ceiling.“

“Visited on Friday 10th July this is a traditional brewpub, all wood and beams, around 10 mins walk from the Hbf. Large room with the bar in decorated with hops but lots of other rooms off it. Staff provided quick and friendly service, beers were good and decent value. Nice spot in a lovely little town“

“Located on the edge of the beautiful Old Town, very close to the Old Port, this place is an obligatory must-visit when in Wismar. The interior is impressive: two storeys, each with a bar, filled with massive, sturdy furniture that befits the decent Bierstube and with branches and twigs of hop hanging from the ceiling (I touched some of them and they were genuine. Wow!) The staff is friendly and helpful. The selection is ok for a brewpub (3 beers at any given time). The food is great. Very German, hearty and filling, and, most importantly, fresh. I had the homemade beef roulade - it was delicious. Not expensive. I will definitely be back again.“

“In a very old building near the harbour, three beers, two regular, one seasonal. Beers were okay, nothing special, food was okay as well. The old town is the really interesting part around here.“

“The lovely aroma of fresh hops fills the air in this amazing old building. Hops even hang from the wood-beamed rafters here. Two large copper kettles provide the nourishment, with my Wismarer Pilsener travelling less than 10 metres from source to mouth! The smooth tasting 4.8% pils has a pleasant and lingering bitter aftertaste. The folks here might be stretching a wee bit with the 1452 origins (a banner above the front door commemorates their recent 555th Anniversary), but the place does seem quite ancient even if the kettles are newish. I could happily spend an evening with the Pils, but it was soon time to move on to the darker Wismarer Mumme. It’s also rated as 4.8%, it looks as dark as a Guinness and is reputed to reflect a centuries-old local recipe. It is definitely a Schwarzbier that I could live with! Wismar was apparently home to hundreds of breweries some centuries back, all working to keep the local sailors happy. The massive servings of solid German food, and the delicious beer on tap, ensures that nobody leaves this place hungry or thirsty. I was definitely very happy after visiting here. July 2011 prices: 2.20 Euros for a 0.3 litre glass; 3.30 Euros for a 0.5 litre serving. Highly Recommended.“

“The interior reminds me the breweries we used to go in my 20’s, in Italy, it’s quite nice, maybe a bit dark. They have 3 beers, not very good. The food is also worse than the other places I tried in the region (had an asparagus soup, full of flour or potato, and with chantilly on top :-o !!! and a pork leg without flavor and with a suspicious gravy).“
