72 /100 3703 N. MAIN ST At one point in its history this place was flawless. Now a days the only music is metal, the beer is so-so, the food which at one point was remarkable is good but lacking. It’s a place I’m tipping to go downhill, but was once my fav. |
88 /100 3703 N. MAIN ST Visited on Saturday, May 14, 2016 for the first time. The entire facility was overly busy with a wait line for the bar room and dining room. Arrived shortly before 5:30p.m. and obtained one of the last available high bar tables. The service was good for as busy as it was. They have flights of beers which consist of 5 beers. My food was good and tasty. It was a very lively environment along with televisions throughout the bar area. The beers were very good and this is a brewery that I look forward to visiting again. Well worth the time to check out. |
74 /100 3703 N. MAIN ST Food was great. Definitely a brewpub - a big ass restaurant with a brewery attached. Beer was good, but not amazing, but good for SB/Mishawaka. Service was great and offered a good selection of their own brews on tap and in the gift shop. |
84 /100 3703 N. MAIN ST Great place with a very friendly vibe. Helpful, fun, and attentive servers, a couple of good vegetarian options (I had the parmesan truffle fries and the mushroom truffle pizza). Four TVs with sports (they even had my Cubbies on!) and a nice variety of music playing. The beers are hit or miss, so grab a flight before you order a pint. They had 15 of their brews on tap (10 permanent taps, and 5 rotating, one being a nitro). They have a room for dinner, but you can also eat in bar area, which has a view of 5 of their tanks. This is my first visit, but it will not be my last. |
92 /100 3703 N. MAIN ST Love this place! Atmosphere is great, service is always friendly and cheerful, great beer and good food! |
84 /100 3703 N. MAIN ST Large brewpub with ample parking - old place could easily fit in the bar area of this one. Great selection of their beers. Menu with more selections that Culver location - didn’t eat this time. Great place - will miss the old location but can fully understand why their focus was moved here. |
76 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD The strip mall City-Wide Liquors location, as noted by others does not have quite the same selection as the one downtown. Even so it is worth dropping in if you are going to be visiting Evil Czech’s brewpub. Besides the typical national brands you will find a good selection of regional beers from northern Indiana. Prices are reasonable although there are few deals to be had. Expect to spend about $10 for a four or six pack of Indiana beers or a bit more for most of the Three Floyd’s bombers ($12.99 or so depending on rarity).
One thing to note is that the aisles can get a bit crowded. I wouldn’t want to come here if it were too busy. Otherwise you should have no problems browsing. Parking also should be no trouble as it sits in a strip mall along a large commercial district. This wouldn’t be my first stop in the South Bend area but I would try to get back if I had enough time. |
84 /100 3703 N. MAIN ST Unlike the location in Culver this location sits just off the main strip in Mishawaka. The food menu seems different as well. Between the two it teeters on the edge of having that cheesy industrial vibe of a faux chain. Fortunately the beer quality and food saves it from mediocrity.
Beers are categorized according to tiers with the cheapest $2.00 a sample and the limited editions about $3.50. Full pints start at $5.00. With almost 20 drafts to choose from you should have no problem finding anything. Generous samples give you great bang for the buck as well. Stopping in at lunchtime we were able to take advantage of a tapas style buffer that encompassed most of the menu. The quality of the food could best be described as "upscale brewpub". The lunch portions appear to be very generous so I can only imagine the dinners are equally sized. If you had to choose an itinerary for South Bend I’d flip a coin between here and South Bend Brew Werks. This has the advantage of easier parking but being nestled in the commercial district gives it a different vibe. Either way you can’t lose. |
68 /100 3703 N. MAIN ST This brewery has been open now for several months and I have been there about a dozen times or better. The food has always been top notch and I can’t think of one thing I didn’t care for. Lots of in house smoking, house bacon, house sauces, spent grain breads and other house made items are found throughout the menu. The beer...while the beer is good, I haven’t had anything that really wow’s me yet. Lots of barrels on site, so hopefully that changes soon. I think a bit more emphasis is put on the food rather than the beer and with the wow factor of the food, I expected it from the beer, too. I don’t find it a beer geek spot (head down the road another 15min to Bare Hands for that) but for the average ’craft beer’ person, it is good. The service has been always decent, but your waiter will seem like a used car salesman which has somewhat been a turn off. You can also tell the wait staff isn’t that enthusiastic about beer. While the name makes it seem like a brewery, its more like a restaurant with beer brewed on site. |
78 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD Decent selection, but for whatever reason I was having a hard time settling on something. I was hoping to score some Three Floyds and selection of that was very limited... Other than that, you can find a decent selection of imports and craft brews, both local and national. |
86 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD Great selection and wonderful service. If you are looking for some hard to find brews in South Bend city wide is the place to go. This store is not as big as their downtown South Bend location but still worth a stop in. |
78 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD good selection, not as good as the downtown location, but they have some stuff that the downtown location doesn’t have, so it’s worth stopping by! There is one worker who is very helpful and knows his beers and is always eager to make good recommendations. The Other workers are pretty clueless about what they have, where things are, etc. They Only do singles of 12 oz bottles on pricey 4 packs, if you’re into that sort of thing. Good store. Along with the downtown citywide, this is one of my go to locations in south bend. Worth a visit |
16 /100 408 W. CLEVELAND ROAD Not suggested. Smoky bar/restaurant features despondent bartender, poorly made beers, and an air of gloom. I have no idea how they are able to stay open; perhaps the smokers do not have tastebuds and enjoy being dismal. |
34 /100 6501 GRAPE ROAD cold, no character, chain restaurant. The place was clean. I liked that they had newspapers sitting at the bar to read. The waitress was nice. $5 for a 20oz draft. wouldn’t go back. mediocre beer and less charm than an applebees. |
30 /100 6501 GRAPE ROAD Located within the University Park Mall: Orange and earthy with B&W pictures on the wall. A large bar but limited mix selection, many large screen TVs. Pricey food and was just okay quality wise. The service was good and highlight of the visit... but then again I was one of a handful of people in the place at the time. The beer selection was the expected chain offerings and was also served WAY TOO COLD! Honestly a waste of time and money. What is the difference between a basic brewing kit and Granite City? About 628 gallons. |
84 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD Stopped in for a 6pack while in town. Good selection of beers. I inquired about a restaurant recommendation and I was treated like family. They grabbed the phone book and worked it for me. Nice people! |
76 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD This is a great stop if you’re in the area! It’s a small-ish liquor store with a whole lot of beers crammed in there. The beer selection is excellent, but you really have to dig through the shelves to see what’s available. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. I prefer the South Bend location, but this is a good stop. |
70 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD Friendly staff, I managed to find a couple gems in here, it took some time. I liked the south bend store better |
86 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD I was travelling through on business and had heard this is a must stop. Great Beer selection, Stone, Three Floyds, and many German Brews. Have alot of hard to find products that you won’t find anywhere else in the area. Very helpfull and knowledgeable staff. If coming from outside the area, bring your cooler. Alot of the product is only available cold. |
82 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD Excellent selection of Indiana and midwest brews along with Stone, DFH, Belgians, many others. Knowledgable staff. I was in town for a family reunion. Glad I stopped for a visit. |
78 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD This store continues to blow me away with their astounding selection, knowledgable customer service, and friendly atmosphere. City Wide seems to keep abreast of all new products and offer a wide variety of beers as well as an unmatched wine selection. I don;t even consider other local stores when I’m searching for something unique, if it isn’t here it isn’t anywhere. |
72 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD This is a crazy store. They have tons of stuff crammed into this store so it is a bit difficult to get around. Shopping for beer here is like a treasure hunt - you might not find exactly what you’re looking for but you will find something interesting. Large selection of Belgian, German, and Eastern European beers - was disappointed in the selection of local micros but according to the staff, I just hit it at the wrong time. Wide selection of Schneider beers, Fantome, and currently have a ton of Berliner Kindl Weisse. A neat store. |
82 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD Best liquor store in the area. Everytime I’m in there, there is always something new and exciting. You can find most of the popular American craft breweries, and some many interesting imports. Prices are resonable. |
62 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD This one is not as nice as the downtown location, but still carries a lot of good beers and has better hours. |
88 /100 City-Wide Liquors - Grape Road (Beer Store) 3825 NORTH GRAPE ROAD Surpsingly large selection of micro-brews and imports. Was able to find some good Belgian Beers like Rochefort and St. Bernardus, as well as the usual Chimay beers. The staff is very knowledgeable. One fellow asked me what kind of beers I liked and then pointed me to some beers I have never tried. I would say they had over 300 beers to choose from. It’s the only place I go when in the South Bend/Mishawka area. |
