74 /100 Cafe Bizon (Bar) 7 RUE PONT LA CARPE Real old school rock and roll vibe in look and service, there’s even a motorcycle behind the bar and they do shows plus it looks very brown. Very friendly service and good prices in a very lively neighborhood. They have their own shot which at 4 euro is a great deal and tasted nice. One rotating tap with Zinnebier on, Trappist selection on the menu. English speaking staff. Some real charm here, might pop in again at some future time, very much in central Brussels. Popcorn given with all drinks. |
68 /100 Brasserie Du Lombard (Bar) 1 RUE DU LOMBARD Some nice game-oriented murals, spacious, nice terrace. Seems to be tourist oriented, tap selection is largely inoffensive and expensive, sweeter, more commercial Belgians. The same can be said for the beer list, expensive and not every exciting. English spoken and card payment possible. |
68 /100 Le Cirio (Restaurant) RUE DE LA BOURSE 18 Utterly gorgeous Art Deco restaurant near the Bourse where the staff still have uniforms. The interior is a work of art and definitely worth the visit, food seemed classic brasserie. The taps were industrial rubbish tough and the beer list ubiquitous beers at best. |
68 /100 Délirium Hoppy Loft (Bar) 4A IMPASSE DE LA FIDELITE Visited September 2016. |
74 /100 Les Brasseurs (Bar) BOULEVARD ANSPACH 77 Located on the Anspachlaan with a big terrace and a traditional interior where the light fixtures remind you of the times of gas lamps. The menu is high on macro brands but has some new Brussel breweries (De La Senne, L'Hermitage etc.) and a reasonable range of Boon products including Boon Oude Lambiek available per glass or jugs of 500 ml. and 1 litter which was a nice surprise, charming. Very quick service, very popular. |
80 /100 Delirium Café (Bar) IMPASSE DE LA FIDELITE 4 Bar dans la "rue delirium"... il n'y a plus les biere internationales mais une liste enorme de bieres belges. Bonne ambiance |

66 /100 Flow - Wolf Food Market (Restaurant) RUE DU FOSSÉ AUX LOUPS 50 Food hall with a small selection of Belgian beers. |
68 /100 Grimbergen Cafe (Bar) PL. SAINTE-CATHERINE 22 Bar with a good selection of their own beers plus some Belgian ones. |
76 /100 Beer Capital Brussels (Bar) BD ANSPACH 89 Big place that’s a short walk from the central square. Beer menu is pretty large but 95% standard Belgians. So, yeah, may be a tourist destination. But the other 5% are unique and interesting craft. So worth a visit especially if Moeder Lambic Fontainas down the street is busy |
76 /100 De Bier Tempel (Beer Store) GRASMARKT 56B Solid bottle selection for a beer tourist like me! |
66 /100 Delirium Monasterium (Bar) 1, IMPASSE DE LA FIDELITE Party place for young people
Nothing wrong with that
But more relaxed than the big one next door
Quite good beer selection
|
62 /100 Delirium Café (Bar) IMPASSE DE LA FIDELITE 4 Party place for young people
Nothing wrong with that
Quite good beer selection
|
76 /100 PLACE FONTAINAS 8 The sad thing is that a Norwegian had to discover that they now brew their own beer at the premises.
Ratebeer is slowly dying
Absolutely a solid place to visit
Must be great in the summer when you can sit outside
|
70 /100 188 RUE ANTOINE DANSAERT Solid selection of their own beer.
And you can get a flight
Modern looking bar at the entrance and a fine restaurant in the back
|
68 /100 PL. DU NOUVEAU MARCHÉ AUX GRAINS 22-23 Maybe a bit to noisy for someone that just want to have a good beer and a chat.
Anyway a fine place.
Good selection of their own beer. Also a decent bottle selection
You can eat here. Solid menu
Must be perfect in the summer when you can sit outside
|
62 /100 A La Mort Subite (Bar) RUE MONTAGNE-AUX-HERBES-POTAGÈRES 7 Nice place to visit
One of the classics
Decent beer selection. You can also eat here
|
82 /100 56 RUE GHEUDE A place and brewery you just HAVE to visit
Essential for all beer pilgrims.
Excellent guided tour.
Merc shop and a lovely bar.
Perfect place rating #1500

28 /100 Le Bier Circus (Restaurant) RUE DE L’ENSEIGNEMENT 57 ONDERRICHTSSTRAAT Walked in on a Friday evening to a severe lack of interest.
Asked where the bar was, as there was no one to welcome us or explain the service rules and some bearded ponce gestured us to head round the corner.
5 minutes later were still sat there. Looked like 4 taps ... no tap badges .. had a look through the menu... seemed okay.
Still no service
... complete cunt in the classical Belgian style of disinterested. We stayed a few more minutes and the 8 of us just fucked off elsewhere.
Places like this don't need to exist. |
68 /100 Taverne Manneken Pis (Bar) 33, RUE DES GRANDES CARMES, 33 Decent pub close to Poechenellekelder and Maneken Pis
Fine beer selection
You can also sit outside when the sun shines
Can be heavy crowded in the tourist season
|
90 /100 Le Poechenellekelder (Bar) RUE DU CHENE 5 A must place to visit in Brussels in my opinion
Lovely ambiance. Solid selection. Good service
Good food
Central location
What more can you ask for?
Highly recommendable
|
76 /100 PLACE DU JEU DE BALLE 50 Lovely small local place/brewery in sub urban Brussels
They had 9 different of their own beer at my visit
Super friendly and helpful staff/brewer
Fine patio in towards the street/square
10 min walk from the train station
Highly recommendable

74 /100 La Tana a Bruxelles (Restaurant) 10 RUE DE L’ENSEIGNEMENT (Visited Oct 2023) Really nice Italian restaurant in Brussels, not far from Le Bier Circus. Small place with a handful of tables. Three beers on tap on my visit, all Italian craft beers (quite obscure as well). Really good selection of bottles, many Italian, but not only. Very good food. Friendly and knowledgeable service. Well worth a visit. Be aware of the limited opening hours. |
68 /100 Brasserie L’Egalité (Bar) PARVIS DE SAINT-GILLES 47, SINT-GILLIS VOORPLEIN 47 Interesting place for sure, nice location, cool interior with a chandelier. About 6 taps from macro to De La Senne and a big fridge full of beers, beer selection seems almost random. Macro beer, random triples, Trappists, craft breweries, almost all of it expired too. The glassware he selected for the beers also made absolutely no sense, friendly service. Like an overly fancy night shop almost. Charming in an odd way, ask yourself if a beer is good when expired if you pick a bottle here. They advertise 24/7 but I have definitely seen them closed earlier even than nearby bars. |
86 /100 PL. DU NOUVEAU MARCHÉ AUX GRAINS 22-23 Very smart place (verging on beer hall in feel), with a veritable tickers delight of a beer range. Visited on a Friday evening in November and the place was extremely lively. Got the first round whilst it was still happy hour, and stayed a good while thereafter. Good service. Beer was good to very good, with a broad range of styles. Food looked good too. Check out the bottle list. Interesting stuff to be had there. Definitely a must visit. |
60 /100 Brasserie Royale (Restaurant) PARVIS NOTRE DAME 11 Restaurant located across the gorgeous cathedral and one of the few more passable places for a beer in the neighborhood probably. I stopped in before a concert at the catherdral and they were clearly overwhelmed by the sudden influx of customers. Food seemed basic standard Belgian cuisine. Interior is quite classic and gorgeous and very apt and decorated for Christmas season, cozy and comforting. Tap menu is uninteresting with Maes & St. Hubertus. Luckily the bottle selection has the likes of Westmalle, Orval and acceptable Le Fort. Serviceable for sure, unlikely you will ever find yourself at random here. |
74 /100 24-26 RUE LAMBERT CRICKX Medium sized taproom with courtyard patio outside. Wasn't that crowded during my visit. Industrial and somewhat rundown interior. Restroom could use an upgrade. 12 beers on tap, different styles which is nice, but quality was good at best. Worth checking out at least for ticking. |
78 /100 Le Bier Circus (Restaurant) RUE DE L’ENSEIGNEMENT 57 ONDERRICHTSSTRAAT Spacious establishment with patio outside. Clean, but somehow basic interior, lots of light. Friendly service. Good selection of bottles and about 8 taps. Had a beer made for their anniversary which was very good. I believe the bottle selection is extensive, but was in a rush so didn't have time to check. Worth checking out. |
90 /100 Flow - Wolf Food Market (Restaurant) RUE DU FOSSÉ AUX LOUPS 50 Topplaats reeds 5 x bezocht ! |
84 /100 188 RUE ANTOINE DANSAERT Visited April 2023. Kind of modern looking place, storage and barrels in the back. 23 taps of BBP, one guest, good variation of styles. Nice, relaxed atmosphere, staff is friendly and know their stuff. Two types of flights (of 4) available. Ok prices. Recommended. |
74 /100 PLACE DU JEU DE BALLE 50 Located in the cool neighborhood of Marolles the brewpub had a good combination of cozy and neat modern interior. There is a patio/beer garden in the back. The place was almost empty during my afternoon visit. Four of their beers on tap which were OK. Friendly service. Worth checking out. |
68 /100 Brasserie Verschueren (Bar) PARVIS DE SAINT-GILLES 11 Pretty large patio and spacious inside. Seems like a quite local place. Went for De Ranke and De La Senne beers and they were quite good. Other than that nothing too interesting. Service was OK, but could be more efficient. Worth checking out for the special beers. Not so sure I'd come back. |
80 /100 Dolle Mol (Bar) 52 RUE DES EPERONNIERS Surprised there's an actually cool bar near the Grand Place which has been always exclusive to crappy tourist traps. Bright red interior with one green light, lots of crap that makes me think of a youth hostel trying to appeal, rundown but it actually works with 1990s indie playing and not the main hits. Zinnebir on tap, XX Bitter for around 7 euro for 500 ml, 250 en 330 also available. Most bottled beers are 5 to 6 euro making some okay priced and some bit much, not that of an exciting list but Rochefort, Vanderginste and basic Boon is available. Popular too and more of an expat feel and exchange students than tourists, there are even Brussels people. Vastly better than anything else around the Grand Place for sure. Friendly not tourist feeling service too. Later note: I have learned since then that this bar is a re-opening of a legendary bar once owned by Jan Bucquoy - famous anarchist & artist. |
50 /100 Au Brasseur (Bar) HOEDENMAKERSSTRAAT 9 Near Grand Place, crowded with mainly tourists it seems, tourist trap obv with kitsch, TV, blinking red lights, base is an actual classic bar with bunch of tourist crap plastered on top, Pump un the Jam was playing and similar music, beer menu is mainly crap but at least there is Orval, prices could be worse, rated too high on here. |
96 /100 56 RUE GHEUDE Absolutely essential brewery for beer and natural wine lovers 🍾☺️. They have a tour available for 7€ which include 3 lambic samples (Unblended, Classic Gueuze and Kriek). The tour is a self-guided in depth explanation of the spontaneous brewing process while walking alongside the equipment described. Such a great experience to see the coolship and barrels of this legendary brewery 🙈. The bar had a fantastic bottle list with world class fruit lambic for 20-25€ pr. bottle (750mL). We had Lou Pepe Kriek and Piacere which was absolutely incredible 🍒🍇🍾. Unfortunately it wasn't possible to buy the bottles for takeaway 😥. Another downside is they close quite early at 17:00. They offer high quality merchandise such as Cantillon signs, coasters and T-shirts🥳! Overall one of the best beer experiences I have ever had 🍇🍻😎. |
82 /100 Les Brasseurs (Bar) BOULEVARD ANSPACH 77 Nice interior, flemish service, draft Lambic and great beer selection. |
82 /100 Le Dillens (Bar) PL. JULIEN DILLENS 11 Gorgeous old school Brussels interior, charmingly rundown in places, friendly service. Redor pils on tap which was not great but defiantly an interesting find. De La Senne also on tap as well, small bottled & canned menu but some surprised like an Illegaal beer. Didn’t see the food menu, surprisingly large Cantillon selection of 75 cl. bottles at fair prices. Atmospheric place. Opens quite early. |
80 /100 Badi. (Bar) RUE DE L'HÔTEL DES MONNAIES 80 New cidrothèque in Brussels, long room with a huge, massive table taking up most of the room. Fairly hipster affair, long cidre list with most ciders being only by the bottle and not by the glass, Belgian producers including some names I knew, long list of French producers but also Swedish, Portuguese, Spanish, Austrian, few fruit ciders etc. Asked for a recommendation and was pleased with the bottle, prices going from around 20 to 60. Spirits also available like Calvados. Food is hipster as well with plenty of oysters etc. Got a seaweed spread with crackers which was okay, could taste little beyond lemon in the spread. Quite hipster but not without some charm, interesting place. |
