82 /100 De Zwaan Dworp (Bar) GEMEENTEHUISSTRAAT 1 Local acogedor, seleccion de cervezas normal para la zona, bien si pasas de camino. |
86 /100 VROENENBOSSTRAAT 15 Visited several times during Toer de Geuze. Very authentic place, nice people, love the atmosphere. And the goats. ;-) |
84 /100 VROENENBOSSTRAAT 15 Very exceptional! |
54 /100 De Zwaan Dworp (Bar) GEMEENTEHUISSTRAAT 1 Heard great raves about this. The place won the lambic award ’gouden lambicstoemper’ - a price later won by Antwaerps bierhuyske, a place I than worked in and made the selection of beers for. Needless to say, my interest was spiked, and it’s been very high on my list eversince ! I finally got around visiting it together with Elisse, David, Rutger. The place clearly fell off. The selection was average, at best. no new beers, and only about 5 beers with spontaneous fermentation ( cuvee chapea included --’) The owner commited without any lying that this was due to a guy working here at the time - who knew a lot about beer - having left this place. Eversince, no ’new’ beers were brought in, and the selection just died off. The guy was friendly, and so we stayed nevertheless to drink a beer. i took a IPA ( extase by Dochter van de Korenaar ) which was expired about a year ago. Pices were OK, and so was the atmosphere. but beer wise? this must have been the biggest let-down I’ve had in a place. |
84 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Visited together with David, Ruter, Elisse. The place was empty, but seemed to be capable of hosting a lot of people. also big parking lot, and surrounded by nature. The beermenu was pretty good, with very nice pricings ! nothing truly unique, but very damn nice ones, and a few rarities such as golden blend / hommage. The food was also very nicely priced, and was very yummy. The service was OK ( beerwise ) but very friendly. All and all, a cool stop if you’re around, especially to have a meal, but i’d still prefer the 3 fonteinen restaurant over this, so I guess their area is both a positive and a negative thing here. Will go again when around ! |
74 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Nice restaurant in a small village. Good food and very interesting beer selection. Some rarities: Janssens geuze, Duivels, etc. Very nice surroundings, perfect for a spring-summer stroll. |
78 /100 VROENENBOSSTRAAT 15 Visited this place already 5+ times. During Tour de Geuze, but also before, when you could still drop by on a saturday to buy some stuff. People are always friendly. Prices aren’t correct, it’s waaay cheaper at Schoentjes then at their own brewery. Weird. Overal a nice stop during TdG! |
82 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Excellent brasserie. The interior is a bit rustic, but nice. The service was quick and very friendly. Selection is more then decent. Lots of local stuff on the bottle list. They have most of the regular geuzes as well. Downside: Both Cuvée St Gilloise and Iris were on the menu, but none of those two was available... Oud Beersel oude lambiek on draught at 2.5 euro > awesome. Prices are just crazy tight. The food is typical brasserie style. The burger was decent, but overcooked. My coquilles with chorizo and mashed potatoes was a very nice dish. Well cooked! Overall, not on the same level as the Heeren yet, but I will most certainly return, because this place still isn’t a touristic trap with tourist prices. |
84 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Had a great time here! Excellent beer selection (local brews), lambics, geuzes, lagers, specials. Food was very nice. Good service. WIll go back to taste more |
92 /100 VROENENBOSSTRAAT 15 Very tiny farm-house / barn in quite a village / built-up area. It was muddy the day we came and I don’t actually know where they are producing the lambic as the place is so small. I liked the ambiance of it and their on-site drinking prices were very reasonable. Would return. |
76 /100 VROENENBOSSTRAAT 15 Visited during Toer de Geuze 2015. In terms of ambiance: there was an actual horse peeking its head out of the stable so close to the brewery that you could feel the hot damp condensation from its nostrils when buying food coins at their improvised barn counter. Equipment is ancient, prices are steepish, going by what seems international demand, not so much local drinking habits (Pajottenland is not Frankenland). A miracle they had their miraculous Schaerbeekse Kriek on sale which else only pops up in US bottle shops. Great character, shame about the more than reclusive attitude towards opening and distribution. |
86 /100 VROENENBOSSTRAAT 15 A really cool place that I’m glad I had the opportunity to visit. |
86 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Awesome place, great belgian food and a great beer selection.
Try the stoemp+merguez! |
96 /100 De Zwaan Dworp (Bar) GEMEENTEHUISSTRAAT 1 Nice authentic place with a more than decent beer list. All the Oude Geuze and Oude Kriek on card. Always some lambik on tap. |
86 /100 VROENENBOSSTRAAT 15 I have been here twice, once some years ago back when they still sold beers to go, their geuze & kriek which were dirt-cheap but they stopped selling beers here since then. These days there is no shop & there are no tours (there weren’t any back then either). All you can look at is a barn middle of nowhere. Tour de Geuze is the only time they are open for the public these days, which is back when I visited it the last time. It is small, there is nothing too see but it is cool to look at the barrels & crazily old equipment. The beer is some of the finest in world in my opinion. It is a great place to visit once every 2 years. During Tour the Geuze they did have the best brewery tour of all times. They just a sign that said “Free Lambiek” and an arrow, once you went in, someone offered you a glass of free lambiek & that was all. Brilliant! |
82 /100 VROENENBOSSTRAAT 15 Looks like a lovely place from around the outside but unfortunately they have stopped opening to the public. It seems the Tour De Geuze is the only possibility now. |
84 /100 VROENENBOSSTRAAT 15 This is one of my favorite places to visit during the Tour de Geuze. It’s a nice location in town, but very rustic. You can walk among the giant foeders and the smaller barrels, and they always tap one foeder and serve an unblended lambik. For that event they usually also serve tasty snack items like chese and sausages. It can get crowded, but it’s laid back and friendly. Nice place. |
86 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Visited 08/2014. Relaxed "country" hideout for hearty and traditional food and geuze pairings with a lovingly catered beer menu (local Den Herberg for non-lambiek) and honest to outstanding value for most geuzes, especially local Hanssens. Copious lunch menu, friendly down-to-earth service who take an interest. Future competition for Liedekercke, if you are not delving for rare treasures |
78 /100 De Zwaan Dworp (Bar) GEMEENTEHUISSTRAAT 1 Nice local pub. Good atmosphere. Lots of locals from different kind having a beer after work time. I like that. Lots of good gueuzes available. |
90 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Fantastic restaurant. Great food, good beer recommendations. Very good service. Acceptable prices. Probably one of the better restaurants I visited last few years. If I had to choose between Liedekercke and Boelekewis, it would be Boelekewis. The weather was good and outside there is really a nice patio. (I was in Liedekercke also with good weather) |
72 /100 De Zwaan Dworp (Bar) GEMEENTEHUISSTRAAT 1 Nice pub in downtown Dworp, with an excellent lambic portfolio. Noisy, but friendly service and not too expensive. A pub for lambic lovers. |
80 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Excellent restaurant in Dworp, close to the E19 highway. Excellent food (had the ’stoemp’), most geuze and kriek beers available, as well as other Belgian beers. Friendly service. Not to expensive. Great stop for a good meal. |
80 /100 De Zwaan Dworp (Bar) GEMEENTEHUISSTRAAT 1 Suggestion from Armand at 3 Fonteinen. Nicely located in Dworp’s small centre. Lots of locals inside. Great beermenu with lots of geuzes. Good atmosphere. Great place. |
88 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Suggested by Armand from 3 Fonteinen. Wonderful garden, where we could sit on the patio. Very decent selection of local beers, like oud beersel jonge lambik and several small breweries. Lovely food and the menu makes wine as well as beer suggestions. Great atmosphere. We even got a couple of bottles for free of the great Brasserie de la Senne. Superb place, absolute recommendation! |
84 /100 De Zwaan Dworp (Bar) GEMEENTEHUISSTRAAT 1 Terrific little lambic café. Would be a very traditional village local if not for the energy of the young ownership behind its revival. So, it’s better than that. All the authentic lambics are here at good prices. The draft lambic is from Lindemans, only lightly pushed by a bit of gas -- nitro, oddly enough. Solid selection of other beers too. And nibbles. Cozy feel with enough wood and barrelage to make it work. Hanssens doesn’t take visitors lately, so this works as a local place to stop and try the beers. Also near the Lambiek museum and Boelekeweis. |
76 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Bel locale, ottima cucina e selezione di lambic ottima.
|
80 /100 De Zwaan Dworp (Bar) GEMEENTEHUISSTRAAT 1 Very nice bar in Dworp, a village in ’t Payottenland. Nice selection overall (Dupont, most of the Trappists, etc.) But of course, In ’t Payottenland, the main focus should be (and is) Lambic. Found the Frambozen Oud Beersel there (was new to me and quite tasty). They have Drie Fonteinen lambic on tap. Need I say more? |
88 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 Outstanding place with a good selection of gueuze beers. On the menu we found three dishes (including ice cream with a gueuze coulis) cooked with gueuze beer to compliment. Excellent service, definitely going back there. |
84 /100 Boelekewis (Restaurant) ALSEMBERGSESTEENWEG 856 A restaurant with a wide range of regional and meat dishes. 35 lambik beers. Specialised in Geuze and Kriek. |
