Redstone Liquors (Beer Store)

“Thi is a large, bright, modern shiny store that seems well organized. Beer selection is in the back, organized by country and then alphabetically by brewer. Tons of beers in coolers. Essentially nothing available as singles except for select bottles (lambic, gueuze, etc). When I asked about this, the manager actually referred me to two nearby stores that do offer singles and mixed sixers (extra points for that). Prices are high. An OK stop.“

“Nearby Redstone, and the prices are cheaper. I typically stop by Rapid before Redstone, because you can invariably get beer at a better price point here. Service is good and the selection is fine, particularly if you are looking for a beer really in demand.“

“Top notch beer store, with incredible selection, excellent staff who is inquisitive, but not pesky and great layout (but country and region). Offers a 10% discount for 6 singles and a 15% for 12 or more. The only quibble with Redstone is that they don't break down enough beers into singles.“

“Stopped by here recently when I was in the area. Very small and crowded. Beers everywhere no ryhme or reason. Lots of very pricy bomers and 750s. Multiple scattered coolers with cold six and 4-packs. Prices are higher than average. They need to expand, soon!“

“This is in a plaza on Route 28 in Stoneham. They need more space to grow in this store. The liquor aisles kind of merge with the beer aisles. They are so cramped for space that they put mixed bottles of beer on top of the coolers and high on shelves that are a bit out of reach. But who cares considering the fine selection of local, regional and international beer. They break their beers shelves out by region to make it a little easier if you are looking for something. But you will be stumbling over mixed 12-packs in every corner as you work your way through this store. Mix and match allowed with a 10% discount when you buy 6.“

“Great place - Kamal and staff are at the top of their game. You want it, they have it - or, if they don’t they’ll get it for you. Don’t miss their annual tasting fundraiser/benefit!“

“This place looks like a regular package store, until you get to the beer shelves. They have the best beer selection of any store I have visited north of Boston, with a fair split between locals, us micros and international. Best selection of Mikkeler I have seen anywhere. Same goes for Night Shift (an Everett, MA nano brew). They get some rare and unusual stuff and will ration out the high demand stuff. I just picked up a barrel aged maple lager from Jack's Abby that was made exclusively for them. Service was very friendly, they even offered to take my selections to the counter for me, and knowledgable.“

“Incredible selection of local and not so local beers. Very nice staff, though not very proactive. Got a nice 15% discount for purchasing a case of bottles, which was nice and unexpected. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area, particularly since you don’t have to drive too close to the city.“

“Stopped in at Redstone was on my to - do list. I was in the Stoneham area on Sunday and had to stop. The beer manger knows what to order and has a lot of harder to find bottles from New England Breweries as well as Imports. The selection was so good it really caught me off-guard. The prices are comparable to nearly any other place in Massachusetts. They actually could use a bit more room as they had more the shelves can display. I will make a return trip here and really is worth a stop if you are in the area. ***update*** they moved to a larger location in the same shopping center. and it is much larger!!“

“Bonne sélection pour une petite surface, beaucoup de brasseries locales, quelques raretés mais rien d’incroyable. Service impeccable de ce qui me semblait être le proprio. Malheureusement, ce fût le lieu d’une mémorable débandade: l’annulation du EBF.“

“Great selection and just amazingly helpful and friendly staff. The owner is knowledgable and his passion is contagious. Prices are, in general, on the higher side compared to other places I go, but this is a wonderful place with a selection that has no peers locally.“

Center Beverage (Beer Store)

“Don’t judge a book by its cover. Walk into Center Beverage and your first impression will be this place is too small to have a great craft beer collection. Don’t be disillusioned, make your way to the back and check out their great selection of craft beer. They have a fantastic selection from local and national microbreweries alike. This is my go to store for craft beer. They keep a good supply of some of my favorites and have a lot of rare offerings (including Heady Topper - when it is shipped to MA). On occasion there have been some beers that I have wanted that were not available in any local store. After speaking with the owner (Chuck), he was able to order it for me and have it in within a week on most occasions. Also, I have a home kegerator and I am able to get most of my favorite microbrews in sixtels from here. If I want a good craft beer selection and some great customer service, Center Beverage is the first stop I make.“

“Beau petit liquor store/beer store dans un centre d’achat a environ 30min au nord de Boston dans le trajet vers Mtl. Tres belle sélection de biere américaine et autre et de belles petites découvertes. Le staff (2 employés sur place) était tres gentil et disponible. Suggestions, 15% off, discussions sur leurs bieres favorites. Un excellent pit stop!“

“Great bottle shop tucked behond a shopping strip mall located just near 93 and 95... Nice bottle selection of some domestic and import rarities as well tons of great local bottles. The guy behind the counter gave a quick tour of the layout and was eager and willing to answer any questions about prices and favorties among the local breweries. They also offer a 15% discount when you get 12 bottles or more... well then that seems like a no brainer ! Looking forward to passing through there anytime I head down to the Boston area.“

“This deserves to be higher in the list than it is. Gave an extra point or two to combat idiot creep in other scores. This is one of my favorite beer stores to date. Sure it is in a Mass strip mall out of the way and looks every bit a normal package store until you walk into the beer section (about half the store in the back). They have an extensive selection of MA and New England beers like you can’t find in Boston at all. They have huge selections from the likes or Pizza Port Lost Abbey, De Molen, Struisse, the gypsy brewers etc. Two very important things...the guys who work here are super knowledgable about their product. And they care a great deal about it being fresh, especially lighter ABV and hop centric beers. Major props for that. They took care of me extremely well. I will go back any chance I get when back in MA.“

“I never would have known about Redstone had it not been for an email I received from them saying they had some items I had posted as hard to find. I setup a larger order and dropped by 2 weeks later to pick them up. Three beers that are impossible to locate were being saved for me and they charged me exactly what the brewer charges and not a penny more despite it taking weeks to track down a bottle I was interested in. The store is a bit cramped but they make due with a fantastic layout and work their butts off keeping bottles fresh and priced appropriately. These guys KNOW beer. It’s awesome talking to them This is my new beer store. Not just because the selection is fantastic but because the guys running it know what they’re doing and bend over backward for every customer that walks in the door.“

“Awesome place. The staff is great. Open to suggestions and willing make suggestions. Quite knowlegable about craft beer too. They always try to get in the best beers and if it comes to mass they will have it. Best place on the North Shore by far. Highly reccomended for selection and service.“

“This is really a well run store with a friendly and knowledgable staff. They have a great selection of beers that are well organized by geographic location within the small store. Follow them on facebook or twitter and you will be updated regularly with the latest offerings. I also like how they limit the distritbution of some hard to get beers to ensure that everyone gets a chance at purchasing. If you live on the north shore of boston, this is a must visit.“

“I stopped in here for the first time this past weekend while I was passing through on my way to Chelsea. A few turns from the off ramp but nothing my gps couldn’t find. Its in a shopping mall, but in a weird back corner next door to what used to be a supermarket but is now closed. Anyhow lots of easy parking on a Saturday afternoon. Looks like any typical neighborhood packey, long store front, register against the right hand wall, liquor and wine front and center, beer off in the back. Lots of warm beer available on multiple sets of shelves, multiple floor displays, as well as most of the 10 or so cooler doors. Great variety of local and regional beers with an impressive Belgian selection. Service was attentive even if I did stump the kid asking about Firestone 15. Prices seemed average for the Massachusetts market which I find higher than at home in NH. If I were in the area again I wouldn’t hesitate to stop in. Great selection.“

“Redstone is located in a shopping center near the 128/93 merge North of Boston. Typical liquor store set-up, so beer is in the back. Biggest selection I’ve seen outside of Julio’s in the state. Was given a tour of the selection by the very helpful staff quick to point out fresh arrivals. Beers are organized geographically with just about every brewing nation represented. Tons of new and rare offerings - including many hard to find gems from the West coast and Europe. Prices are a little higher than other stores in the area, but volume discounts quickly alleviate the difference. I’ll be coming back...“

“Popular store that has a tremendous selection of wine, and a reasonable selection of craft and imported beer. Prices are among the best I’ve found in the metropolitan area. Service is available but perfunctory; the staff, especially at the cash registers, looks bored and tired. Worth a drive for wine, but probably not for the beer.“

“Small space, filled to over-flowing with a better selection than I’ve seen in the Boston area; on my first visit today, two well-informed staff offered helpful, friendly but non-intrusive service. Wide selection of imported and domestic beer, with discounts of 10 and 15% on purchase of 6 or 12 single bottles, and free brewery glasses if they have them to match your purchase. This place is worth a trip. I’ll be a regular shopper here.“
