“Online Liquor store with a fun gimmick: Shipping is free when you order a dozen bottles. Solid selection of Belgian and a few international shelfies for very reasonable prices, I am pretty sure I would pay 2-3 times more for some of the 75cl bottles I ordered here in Germany. Ships to NL, BE, FR & GER, and lightning fast at that, I had my dozen the next day! Recommended!“

“Не был в магазине но заказывал онлайн. Конечно он известен прежде всего благодаря своим топовым и редким пивасам из Штатов. Цены соответствующие, но оно того стоит. Сайт удобный и правильно обновляется. Очень следят за своим инстаграмом. Хотелось бы чуть больше выбора не Американских пивасов, но а так уникальный магазин конечно.“

“Visited on a Thursday around noon. Decent sized patio in front. The inside consists of several rooms, all quite spartan but with some hipster colouring and imaging. Not a lot of atmosphere when I visited, but the place being completely empty didn't help. Sat outside on the patio, had a few small sized tasters for high prices. Good beers though. Had a nice flammkuche, but as said, things aren't cheap. Might visit again, hope to see it more crowded then.“

“I’ve visited this hybrid bottle shop and webstore multiple times, they specialise in beers from the USA and in particular New England and east coast. The beers they manage to get are air shipped, so they are fresh, Tree House, Alchemist, Fidens, Hill Farmstead and Trillium to name a few are all available here. I’ve never seen such rare / sought after beers so regularly available in Europe. The shop is very pleasant, with well presented beers in the fridges. Recently I’ve picked up, Heady Topper, Focal Banger, all the Headline Tree House Beers, including King Julius, Emperor Julius and others. Don’t expect it to be cheap, the beers are, in my view, fairly priced at around 16 euros a can.“

“(Visited Aug 2023) Nice and friendly beer café, close to the Vijzelgracht metro station, not far from the Rijksmuseum. The baris immedialtely to the right upon entering. Interior in light colours, stuffed with odd furniture, hardly any of them match with each other. Beer selection is mainly German, with some Dutch ones as well. Four taps and a decent selection of bottles. Service was swift and friendly. It may not be right in the city center, but it's not too far away, so well worth a visit.“

“Huge popular with people going in and out all the time and a traditional dark wood interior in vaguely disingenuous fashion. Tourist oriented and efficiently run in a speedy fashion. Plenty of people eating but just as many also drinking. Bit of an in-and-out type of place. Affiliated or owned by De Bekeerde Suster, not entirely sure but the later was implied. De Bekeerde Suster beers are reasonably priced and the most “interesting” part of the menu but I didn’t bother, not liking the brewery. Menu is largely macro for beer otherwise, draft menu didn’t get much more exciting than La Trappe Dubbel, there is some classics like Jever, prices are a tad high, not overly exciting.“

“New BrewDog in the backside of the central station, visited early on a Sunday. New wood and dark green interior, lots of glass on the outside, usual BrewDog signs and menu. We took a couch facing the water, all glass, amazing view, people watching & very comfortable couch, peak view in Amsterdam. Bit of a limited menu compared to others about a dozen beers at could be worse price-point for BrewDog + location. We got table service, quite friendly. Not a bad addition given the location & a great view if you pick the right spot. About 3 – 4 vegan options on the menu & train beers available at reasonable prices. Upgrade from the Delirium bar that used to be there close to this location.“

“Traditional, old-style bar (wooden furniture and all) in the centre of Amsterdam, in Spui. I was there near closing time, so not many customers. One more point in service for service my beers in its own spectacular glass. Selection was almost only of standards. Not interesting for craft beer people. Overall, not the place for me.“

“Nice bar, in the centre of Amsterdam, not far from Dam, found under the street level. It's also difficult to find the entrance, because it's in a normal house door. Unfortunately I tried this on my last night, and at closing time, so I could only get one beer. Ambiance seems nice, though at that time we were very few customers. Selection is very wide, with about 50 taps, and both domestic and international. Overall, I look forward to go back next time!“

“Cute little corner bar surprisingly free of tourist considering its location. Specifically Bavarian line-up of beers, we made a stop to drink a new Schlenkerla beer while my friend had a nice unfiltered Lager from Spezial. Owner seemed friendly, will probably stop by again to drink a big cool Bavarian lager.“

“My son wanted to watch a particular EPL football match while we were on holiday in Amsterdam. It seems that Irish pubs are the safest bet to have TVs with sports on them so we came here. Interestingly, this bar is only maybe 7 meters or so down the street from De BierKoning, my highest rated place anywhere. People at the bar were nice enough to allow the four of us to squeeze in although the place was rather busy on a F1 weekend in the city. We tried a local blonde and finished with a Guinness, both on tap. For food, we ordered bitterballen and it was above average. Be advised of the numerous steps and stairs up and down throughout the bar.“

“Quite a iconic looking building, serving quality craft beers. I was there Monday early afternoon, and having spent a week in Holland this was the first time I was asked to pay as I received my beer. I could see why a half hour later, the place gets very busy. Really enjoyed the 2,000 odd bottles been displayed very well as I've several thousand in storage.“

“A very pleasant place to visit, a little out of the way but only a 10 minute walk from Central Station, doesn't feel like Amsterdam. It's a Art Deco almost student hotel with a bar serving all it's own beers, (the beers are actually made a couple of hundred metres away if you want to be picky) Friendly service & nice ambiance. Around 8 or more beers available on tap plus cans, all a very good standard.“

“2020 rating : Very beautifully decorated medium sized bar with vague 50s look in a great way but very slick. Nice service & good prices for beer. Food available & a dozen taps. I am not a big fan of their beers which is obviously what they largely sell but I was surprised by some of the smaller batch beers that they actually brewed themselves which were in one case notable better than the large scale bottles. Pleasant surprise, far better place than expected.“

“Located close to the tourist hell in Amsterdam but surprisingly quite old school bar with none of the tourists. Friendly owners & locals even. They focus on jenever but they also have beer which is all from Bavaria. Good prices & four taps. Selection is not huge but it is in amazing condition and the best you will get in the Benelux, if you’re drinking these beers elsewhere, they were almost certainly imported through here. Small bottle selection, world class beers in perfect condition. No music, sometimes just silence.“

“It took me embarrassingly long to realize that my Amsterdam office is located right next to a brewpub. Visited on my own once, once for an after-work & once for a meeting so far. Repurposed greenhouse building with outdoor seating, quite interesting & comfy. Food available with somewhat split focus between beer & food. Vegetarian & vegan food. 6 beers on tap & a limited amount two or so bottled. Their beer is sort of meh really, vague BE / NL old school taste & quality that harks back to the Dutch beer scene of a decade ago. They had a very weird high ABV beer once. Not really worth going out of your way to visit which you will have to do I suppose unless if you work nearby but nothing bad either.“

“2020 Visit. Visited early afternoon on a Wednesday shortly after opening. Sharp lovely old building, black and white design outside. Some very nice architecture outside. Short walk from a metro station, several trams stop nearby including a tram stop right outside. Not central but just a few stops from anywhere central. Sizeable terrace outside. First floor is large and spacious, black wall with joking text about the brewery and lots of velvety purple in the design, frills on the table. Lots of space, lovely old time look. There is a smaller second floor that has a lovely old era living room and look to it. Toilets have some interesting colour schemes & “interesting” drawings. Apparently 32 taps but I noticed just the 16 above the large bar. Lots of seating. 16 is more accurate for the number of beers available on draft with about 15 of these their own beers, one guest. Of these 15 about 6 were rotating beers. They offer a sampling tray of any 3 beers on tap for 10 euro. Their own beers are well priced starting at about 4 euro for a regular pour. Small pours, standard & pitchers of all draft beers available. I got a tasting set which accidently included a Rodenbach Grand Cru (I mistread the board & thought that “King of Sours” was the name of one of their beers). Beers lacked some depth but were solid and pleasant, got their standard IPA and a bock beer. Selection was standard hoppy styles, Belgians etc. Upon my visit lacking something dark, they had just run out of their Espresso Stout. Service was attentive and very good. They take card and cash. Bottled selection is limited including the likes of Punk AF, Arrogant Bastard and few Dutch beers like Maximus, Chouffe etc. Something more regular for people not interested in their beers I suppose, hose lemonades, spirits and a combo of spirit and beer available. They do lots of food, interesting twists on classical Dutch pub food including some vegetarian options like bitterballen, hamburgers and falafel. I didn’t eat here. Everyone present there was quite a bit younger than me. Very nice place if they kick up the quality of their beer a notch this will become an exemplarily place but already very good. Small downpoint, they dimmed the lights tad too low for me.“

“2020 Visit. Visited early evening on a Wednesday. Quite central Amsterdam, recognizable Gollem interior design. Lots of people inside, seemingly all tourists. With second story slightly elevated about the first room. Lived in old wood, cozy, bar looks like it dates back a few decades even the door handle to get in is an old time system, took me a bit to figure out. Looks like a place where people used to smoke like hell once upon a time. Good service, bottle list written on walls comparable to other Gollem bars. 14 taps with the selection being almost painfully pedestrian, several Brand offerings, standard Gollem beers, Maes Pils oddly? They do large pours of Maes Pils, yeah... Only two seemingly worthwhile beers one Jopen and one Lervig on tap. Bottle selection is barely more exciting lots of dull BE & NL offerings with almost nothing exciting and comparable to what you would expect from Gollem. I enjoyed the setting, service was good, prices were fair but the beer selection was almost catatonically bland sadly which makes it totally ignorable for me.“

Het Lagerhuys (Restaurant)
ROKIN 84
“2020 Visit. Visited in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Het Lagerhuys is a new restaurant that combines high quality food and craft beer as well as natural wines opened by the owner of Foeders. Located in the Rokin area. Appropriate to the name it is located slightly below street level & outside menu promises that it is not a tourist trap :) Interior is gorgeous, somewhat Scandinavian, bright, gorgeous lamps, bar is huge with lots of big pieces of lovely wood. Great color scheme & you can see the kitchen when you go to the restroom. Food is clearly the focus. Unfortunately I am an extremely picky eater and opted out of eating here. The menu did specify that they are willing to accommodate people with special dietary requirements. One finger food that is vegetarian, rest of the menu is normal diet. Service was very good & attentive, funny that they started with asking if I know Dutch, service in Dutch becoming bit of an exception in central Amsterdam. Second waiter did wind up switching funny enough to English but my Dutch pronunciation is also not very understandable. The place is newly opened and some kinks are still clearly being worked out, there was a photoshoot for advertisement going on when I was there and guest list menu didn’t have brewery names, most were added during my visit. Other visitors seemed to be tourists that randomly wandered in. Beer selection is they have 50 taps, half of these are fixed taps. 10 of these are Gulpener & Gerardus beers, matter of staying approachable I suppose? Luckily one of the Gulpener taps is a Mestreechs Aajt. Rest of the fixed taps is classics from breweries like De Ranke & De La Senne. Rotating taps are impressive with an eclectic & high quality selection featuring the likes of Cascade, Bierol & Thirieze, very good impressive. Beers did seem slightly expensive with most of the rotating beers being around 7 euro, still pretty reasonable in Amsterdam I suppose and for a restaurant. Prices took it slightly down for me. The main thing is this is a restaurant and as such I didn’t get the real experience by choosing not to eat here so my rating should be ignored as it is not representative.“

“Visited during the 2020 Corona Outbreak. Around the corner of Oedipus, short walk from ferry and nearby metro station. Thursday visit directly after opening. Below 100 people capacity but looked bigger like that. Brewery is clearly visible. Lots of brick walls, lots of space. Once a week events. Tasting boards shaped like their logo, proper glassware. No people at first but filled up surprisingly well given the situation in the country. About dozen taps, regulars but also some less common beers, good selection, fair prices, beers available in 15, 25 & 50 cl. Fixed tasting tray available for 12 euro of 4 standard beers but 15 cl. option allows you to sample plenty. Some bottles in the fridge including Daemon series for 6.50 euro a can & cheese sandwiches, chips etc. available. Few non-Walhalla beers available bottled like Orval or Nevel but pricier. Card only – no cash! (always not due to Corona). Walhalla beers are very solid so really great place. Stayed way longer than planned.“

“Modern, gorgeous looking and very big. I visited on a Thursday evening, and it was absolutely packed, just way too many people. You had to wait in line to be seated, you had to wait a long time until it was your turn to get serve, you could pay. The staff was working like crazy but just too much time not just waiting but whilst waiting you needed to spend all your attention on trying to get the staff to notice you. Kind of ruined the experience for me. They have food including a vegan burger and a vegan board that looked interesting. I had the patience to order only one beer, their pilsner which was surprisingly decent, decent by NL standards, below average for DE. Okay prices especially for Amsterdam, about 5 beers on tap when visited.“

“Unbelievable place really. Quite a bit from the center but plenty of public transport passes by frequently. A corner store / bodega with an adjacent liquor store. Beer selection is unbelievable really, would be astonishing for any beer shop in the Netherlands. From USA producers including Almanac, Freemont, Jester King to Icelandic beer, Poland, Germany, Hitachino, local beers from Walhalla, Uiltje, Frontaal etc. Fridges including a walk-in fridge. There is even an extensive 3 Fonteinen, Tilquin etc. selection. Multiple times I was surprised that they had something, prices are definitely agreeable for Amsterdam as well. Ridiculousness caries on in the food, got a Van Holten’s pickle (had been wanting for a while – disgusting), Korean snacks, got a canned Dutch Espresso Martini, Champane,… Would be here all the time and every time if I lived nearby. Blew my mind. Some bottles were a bit older probably but not with the stuff where it matters, hoppy beers etc which were largely in the walk-in fridge.“

“Located in the Vondelpark, great setting. I figured it wouldn’t be open since winter but it was with mostly seating outside with a good number of seats. There are about 4 tables indoors but most of it is outdoors. Selection is for a large part the standard ‘t IJ beers at okay prices – they did have a special lager made for this location which was not amazing but above macro lagers. Still decent number of taps. Food was snacks, pizza and so forth, one vegan pizza option but it didn’t look very exciting. More of a summer place but even in the winter it was a pleasant stop. Definitely worth a stop to chill if in the neighborhood.“

“Residential area, small two stories, cozy bar, cool location. Brown wood, wooden boards with menu on the wall, green wooden bench, Uiltje posters, bit calmer and cozier than your average Gollem. Tap menu was uninteresting with Brand, Gulpener, IJ standard offerings and one Oedipus. Menu is a large list of okay beers, what you would expect from Gollem, Bird, Huyge, Dochter van De Korenaar, Kromme Harring at Amsterdam prices. Nothing overly impressive beerwise but does get points for being cozy.“

“Not located in the gorgeous windmill next to it sadly but in a cool looking former bathhouse. Out of the center for sure but well connected with public transport. Brewery visible in the back. Absolutely packed on a Monday evening, rambunctious bunch of slightly drunk locals and expats, definitely a different a local atmosphere. Beer being right about cheapest craft beer in Amsterdam with 200 ml. & 400 ml. pours definitely plays a part. Number of standard taps but also 4 specials, had a Kolsch which didn’t impress me too much, none of their beers are amazing but price, liveliness and interesting venue definitely do help. Separate snack counter, snacks are more expensive than beer but fair enough to do that.“

“South African restaurant and brewpub close to De Pijp. Popped in for a beer, part of the decoration looked like a Tiki bar, servers were very British and friendly. Vegan, vegetarian options, didn’t eat, kitchen didn’t smell that amazing. Visited shortly after opening on a Wednesday. 6 beer on tap, mango gose, mint milk stout, watermelon wheat, IPA,… More taps but not all used. tried the mango gose, they gave me a sample to try first to warn since it is a sour beer. Prices were good 7 euro pint, 3.50 euro regular pour. Beer was drinkable but bad as well, didn’t hear that their beer is impressive in general, nor is the food.“

“Looks like a newly opened taproom in De Pijp – more people working than necessary it seemed but some were getting training. Like a newly build brown bar from decades back. Looks quite pretty, good location. Beer selection is disappointing and menu on the wall is confusing, listing all things possibly available. 6 taps – 25 cl & 50 cl pours. 6 beers on tap didn’t seem to have any specials more the regulars, could be a bit cheaper given that they just sell their own beers. Bit bigger and slightly more exiting bottle selection but seems to miss something special like a location specific beer or more interesting specials. Felt like a weird corporate attempt almost to fit into De Pijp. Bar food available. Overall okay but missing that something.“

Walhalla's tasting room is small, with a few inside tables, and some outside tables for when the weather is nice. They had maybe a dozen taps, with 15cl pours available of everything. They only had one of their big impie stouts on tap when I visited, and unfortunately a bunch of hazies -- though I wasn't crazy about any of their IPAs besides the delicious Loki. Oedipus' tasting room is fairly large, certainly much more spacious than any place in central Amsterdam. It has an almost Caribbean vibe, making you feel like you're at the beach. Beer-wise, they had over a dozen taps, with 15cl pours available of everything and free tastes as well. I wasn't hugely enthralled with any of the beers, but most were solid and competently done. “Nice and big place in Amsterdam (west of centre). Incredible how they were able to take over a well running restaurant on that spot. Quite popular; good atmosphere. Big outside terrace with a lot of sun. Good choice of beers, mainly their own, but also including new releases and others that you cannot get easily elsewhere. Their offers always develops (as does in general the beer gamma of Two Chefs; next to some standard brews, a lot of new ons, temporary series, limited editions etc). Also goodservice level; the people really know about their brews. I was there more often (live closeby). Don't know much about their food though, although there is a serious menu.“
