“Visited 20-04-2022. Amazing place. When entering you can see the fermenting tanks of the beer brewed on site. The place has a nice industrial vibe, perfect for a punk beer company. In one corner there are pinball machines and board games, to play with mates. You can play a game of chess while enjoying beer. The music is nice. Loud, but definitely not too loud. And a great selection of rock music. Ambiance wise a great place. The service is great too. We tried almost all beers on draught (14 out of 18) in pairs of 2. When your glass empties, the staff immediately comes and asks for a refill. Service is quick and clean. No comments what so ever. Friendly and they know their basics about the beer they serve. The selection is great. 18 beers on draught, some 10-12 of their own and a few guest beers. Some unique beers brewed on sight. And besides that a great selection of cans and bottles. Food selection is good too. Not too much, but a good variety. And the food is good too. So, overall a great bar. Also the value is pretty good. 5 hours inside, 28 15cl tasters and some snacks for 120 euros. Pretty decent.“

“After 17 years made it back to this brewer and had a few beers, quite a lively place. Quick service, although didn’t know much of the beers, I think its too commercial nowadays. Still had a couple of nice berrs, so a good night.“

“Nice location with a small number of tables outside and a cozy, quaint, wooden old style coffee shop feel inside. Pretty much a Kaapse beer list on tap but also a couple of guests. Nice food/snack list. Close to center of town and shopping district. Busy on a Friday evening. A worthy stop for a beer and food.“

“Typical small brewery beer pouring venue with the advantage of outdior tables if you can get one. Chaotic set up with self self food place kind of merged in. Busy. Lots of Kaapse on tap, no surprise, with a few interesting guest taps. Super small bottle shop inside. Honestly would not venture out again unless with a group and arrive early to get best table outside. Kaapse Maria is better. Very overrated“

“Nieuwe locatie in Rotterdam in oude fruitloods. Duidelijk dat de crew nog wat moet wennen en daarom nog niet alles even vlekkeloos loopt, maar het aanbod van bieren en voedsel is gewoon in orde. Tevens een shop waar het bier en andere merchandise verkocht wordt. Een groot deel van de eigen bieren van de tap, de resterende van de fles. Locatie is heel bijzonder, zo direct aan de haven. Voordeel is ook dat je gewoon je auto gratis voor de deur kunt parkeren.“

“Opened as an outpost in 2020 that houses a 5HL brewhouse, 10 fermenters and 10 serving tanks. The brewkit is used to make small-batch exclusives for Outpost Rotterdam customers. Also it features an awesome selection of craft beers from 18 taps of local and international brews. Like all BrewDog bars they serve food. Located in a glass-fronted corner spot behind Rotterdam's City Hall, just a stone's throw from the river. Inside it's the typical industrial feel with a large outdoor terrace and further tables down the side. Friendly staff. Typical expensive prices that you tend to find in all BD bars (so much for the "Punk" ethos).“

“Right on the water, a little out of the way, but still just a half hour walk outside the centre. Busy in the evenings. Flights of 5 available, basically shot glasses, for ‎€5. Beer quality was prediocre lame to mediocre. Wouldn't recommend the place for beer quality, but during daylight, it's quite a busy place.“

“Prohibitively busy on a Friday night, so I didn't stay long. Taplist is decent, but given the busyness, I couldn't really inquire about pour sizes and what not. Beer list was decent. I feel like I should experience the place in the afternoon, off-peak, to get a better sample of the place.“

“Fairly large place, insane busy in the evening, difficult to relax and chill with a beer. Decent selection of Belgian and Dutch Belgian styles with smaller pours available. Not a ticker-friendly place, but decent if you want to get trashed on good beer for a reasonable price. Not particularly recommended.“

“Not really sure how this gets its own listing, but okay - it’s inside De Kaapse, a separate room with a damn incredible selection of top Dutch beers, including many impie stouts and barrel aged beers. Reasonably priced. Since it’s mandatory to stop at this brewery, you should peak in here and see what you are tempted by.“

“This place is awesome. Open late and can get very busy and rowdy at night. Despite that, the taplist is awesome: 30 taps, with a little half devoted to house Kaapse beers and the rest well-chosen guests, with lots of BA beers from all over. Set flights of 6 available for €12, but the bartender was nice enough to swap out some for a nominal fee. Beer quality is excellent - they really excel at the heavy malty stuff. Must hit when in Rotterdam.“

“I visited Hop-in to pick up a box I had ordered online. They are located in a part of Rotterdam that’s a bit remote from the city center and mainly known under locals. It’s a lively neighbourhood with lots of shops from young entrepreneurs with fun ideas, Hop-in is one of them. Specialised in local beers, Dutch beers and quality craft beers from around the globe, you can find at Hop-in a solid selection of what is going on in the world of beer. From local micro’s Tureluur, Hoevebrugs or Maasgoud to Cloudwater, Perennial, Hoppin Frog and Westbrook, and all shades in between. A great place to shop Rotterdam-based brews and international bangers. Friendly personnel, an interesting neighbourhood and around the corner from Brewery/taproom Noordt. So get your ass over there and check it out! Support real beershops!“

“I went to the Brewerypubpart just an few meters away. Big glassy building where you see all the brewery equipment in action. Very long bar with their beers. Take 2 beers and those on the safe side, make sense with this big place to serve an lot off customers, beginning beer drinkers and people unknown to craft beer.“

“Visited on 19th March 2019. L shaped venue on a wide main road, tramway and water feature from the Central station. It's a bit low key and almost walked past it. Decor is very smart and modern with the bar facing the entrance and a kitchen at the rear. Plenty of seating available. The beer range is great with plenty from Kaapse plus some other interesting Dutch guest beers. Service super friendly, food is a version of tapas and was good. Best of the 3 venues we visited and would recommend a stop.“

“Visited on 19th March 2019. Situated in an area with a few other bars and opposite Coop is this place. Nice, traditional venue with a wooden interior and split over 3 levels. Decor is pretty decent and has a nice ambiance. Beer range is a split between Belgian macro stuff and a decent range of local beers in bottles and on tap. Service was good and friendly, prices decent and the food, although didn't try it, looked good. Quite liked the place and would recommend popping in.“

“Visited on 16th March 2019. Nice spot on a corner in amongst a lot of other bars. Split level with seats at the bar. Wooden floors throughout and more comfy seating towards the rear. Decor nice and trad. Tap selection is ok but has a reasonably decent bottle list with a few local beers in amongst Belgian and Euro more common stuff. Service friendly. Prices decent enough. Early opening a bonus.“

“Nice restaurant with good beer selection. Much has been said already. I thought the food was ok but not all too special. The descriptions on the menu gave us a high expectation but the taste of the actual food was not on par. The beer list is interesting, with quite some Belgian beers from Alvinne, 3 Fonteinen etc. The waiter told me they do trips to Belgium and buy the beers at Drankenhandel Geers (or De Caigny). This way they can provide specials they cannot get through regular channels. Service was very nice, pricing was good, ambiance was cozy. Now just take up the food one notch...“

“Visited in early evening the place was quite crowded. Liked the interior and the building, clean and modern, but still warm and cozy. Good selection of their own beers and some guests. Nothing too exciting for me though. They did have some Cantillon and Hair of the Dog bottles, but haven't seen a bottle list. Was told by the girl working there HotD is quite expensive, round 25 euros. Well worth visiting.“

“Visited only the bar room, looking from reviews there is more to it. Nice ambiance, was bit chilly for the deck, but drinking outside would be fantastic. Classic interior, bit of a hipster pub feel to it. Around 5 of their beers on tap, some available as cask. I got to try only one beer, unfortunately cask stout wasn't in good condition. Gone sour and seemed infected. If you have time it's worth checking out for the ambiance and ticks, but I wouldn't expect quality beer.“

Kaapse Maria (Restaurant)

“We visited here Sunday 22nd September 2018 after attending the After Borefts Beer Festival at Kaapse Brewery. Kaapse Maria sits on Mauritsweg which is one of the main routes from Rotterdam Central station when heading south towards the river, it's a 13 minute walk and about a km from the station. It's on the right hand side as you head north to the station as we were. It's a rather elegant looking white building with large windows. Inside it's character has been kept largely intact with lovely original wooden flooring, a nice curly wurly staircase, some black and white floor tiles near the bar and a nice spacious feel, we liked it.

We sat towards the rear not far from the kitchen area, the chef was already busy preparing food for the evening diners. We had a little mooch about as it was quite quiet, I guess a lot of folk who ordinarily might turn up here were still at the After Borefts Beer Festival also the weather had been pretty dreadful today. There was a great beer choice on tap, with their own beers plus plenty of other good Dutch breweries. I had Kaapse Tineke an Imperial Stout and Loz had Lervig Tasty Juice both were great. I never even looked or thought about a bottle/can list so cannot comment on that. Well worth seeking out if in Rotterdam.“

“Just a quick visit while in the neighbourhood. This shop seems to focus on the webshop, the place has no atmosphere at all. Just a bunch of cheap shelving in a small supermarket kind of shop. Lots of Dutch, Belgian, UK and US beers. Personnel seems laidback. Plenty of ticks to be found, but nothing really stood out. Not a must on your day out in Rotterdam.“

“Visited 28.8.18 - last and way too quick stop before heading to the airport. Hidden in a food market that on a Tuesday night was already closed. Great, great selection of Kaapse beer, knowledgeable and patient staff, flights - the lot. Wish I had more time to spend there!“

“Spacious brown cafe' full of character and an impressive bottle selection. Plenty of the standard commercial beer but there are a few hidden gems there. Staff was nice and didn't mind me sitting and killing time over there, so that was nice. More interesting bottles can be seen in the low fridge behind the bar.“

“Went here with the Betuwse Bier Brouwers on a 'study trip'. Very spacious bar with a small podium as well and a see through in the floor to the brewery in the basement. Looked like a small 3 to 4 hectoliter brewery but nice enough. Only tasted their house beer but the rest of the selection is a bit standard: lots of macro's and some small Rotterdam breweries as well. Didn't taste the food. Staff was friendly and very young.“

“Went there on a brewery trip with the Betuwse Bier Brouwers because one of the members is acquainted with the head brewer/owner Peter so we got the 'special' treatment. Very characteristic building which is a bit hidden behind apartments. Interior is light and industrial. Brewery space is very spacious, enough room for expansion it seems. They offer only their own beer on tap, albeit 20 of them, so plenty to choose from. Along with our tasters some pork belly, which they smoked themselves, was served with some incredible mustard. Exceptionally friendly owner who answered all our (silly) questions with that typical Rotterdams no-nonsense attitude. Well worth a visit.“

“A lovely brown café by the main road bridge in Delfshaven. There are some interesting carved wooden pictures on the walls and the weird mechanical biting dog’s head contraption mentioned by Finn in his review below. The terrace lounge (which doubles as the smoking room) overlooks the canal and is a suntrap. The beer was decent and the service accommodating, even when clumsy Chris accidentally knocked his full glass of beer over. (Visited 24 September 2018).“
