“Very small bar at a street corner in Utrecht. Very old school, all old wooden furniture. A few drafts, some of which standards, one sour (with badly written name). Overall, not my type of place, would not go back.“

“Visited in May 2018 just because I was in the neighbourhood. To my surprise the owner offered me a Playground Non Alcoholic IPA and gave me a short tour around the brewery. Super friendly. The nice visit ended with buying some special brews. Thanks.“

“Pretty spacious bar located in the city center. Upon entering we paid a deposit and got the cards which are to be used on self pouring station with bunch of taps. Girls working there were kind and explained the system very well. I've checked the tap list online upfront and while solid number of usual suspects were on the list there were plenty of interesting craft beers to choose from. This turned out to be misinformation. I'd say half of taps were without beer at all. Rest of them had combo of macros (Heineken, Stella), hard seltzers, big craft like Brewdog, Pinta, De Molen and lower quality brews from smaller craft breweries. Very limited in terms of interesting styles and condition of beers was dubious. Their system is foaming a lot so it's not that easy to pour yourself a small pour. Interior is very bright and there is a weird light in one corner of the room which simulates the daylight. Obnoxious pop music. Seems to popular with students and teenagers. One of the biggest disappointments of 2021, had to apologize to my friends for dragging them in here. I guess you can visit for some cheap ticks, but I wouldn't recommend.“

“Spacious place with medium sized bar room and some more tables upstairs. Unfortunately the bar did not seem like a good place to sit, but that may be connected to pandemic. Large bar with the open kitchen in the back. Plenty of taps, they seemed to be focused on Dutch and Belgian beers. Some classics, some sub-par newer styles, but also a tap takeover from Korenaar which I liked. Some special bottles as well, somewhat pricey though. Food looked really good. someting like modern bistro food. Kind and knowledgeable service. I've really liked the place.“

“Medium sized shop with several hundred of Dutch and imported beers. Nothing too special, you don't get too see in other shops. Worth checking out if you're in this part of town and looking for some beer to go.“

“It's not that big, but I've seen smaller shops. Anyway, I took a short stop here. Several hundred beers spread over shelves and couple of fridges. Some stuff you don't see that often. Kind service. Worth stopping by.“

“Nice brewpub by one of my favourite Dutch breweries. Located on a bit obscure terrain, this has a fun alternative/DIY appeal. A fine selection of quality brews and friendly/chatty service. Worth going out of your way for.“

“The brewpub is located on a industrial area and payment with card only. They have their own beers available. The service was good (in EN) and the food was also good. The ambience was nice (went during the day and there is a nice "beergarten" to enjoy the good weather, if that's the case).“

“Great place on canal for food and craft beer. Busy in a Saturday but still a few seats. Tap lists of 25+ beers with a few stellars from new Euro breweries. Definitely worth a walk to get beers and a snack“

“A small café in the historic center of Utrecht, with dedicated owners Dunja & Maurits. With gigantic knowledge of beers, wine, (dutch) gin. They can advice you on the beers and their breweries, which they visit their selves. You can get homemade snacks. A place worth a visit.“

Kwestie van Smaak (Beer Store)
HELLING 11
“This shop is mainly focused on other alcoholic drinks, but they do have a small amount of beers. Visited this shop about a year ago because they had some of the big (75cl) bottles of De Kromme Haring that were harder to find elsewhere at that time. They had a few more beers than mentioned in their web shop, but nothing special. Not worth a visit for beer unless you're just looking for one of these or have a quick look combined with visiting next door Taplokaal Gist. Prices are a bit steep. Service is ok. Payed parking in the neighbourhood, easy reaching by train, next to station Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn“

“Pretty small shop but nevertheless a good assortment of craft beers. Biggest collection of local beers I've seen in shops in or around Utrecht. Big fridge for cold beers. Four crowlers, changing frequently. Quite some beers that are harder to find. Very friendly owner, knowing the stuff he sells. Good service. Prices are ok. Walking distance from Utrecht CS, although it takes around 15 minutes. Visit recommended.“

“Nice place on a small industrial estate close to the city center. Just a 15 minutes walk from the train station. Alternative Brewpub with good beers and vegan food. Friendly service. Decent price tags. Worth the extra mile from the city center.“

“A very short walk from De Drie Dorstige Herten, this is another good stop in Utrecht. Only 6 on tap, but 1 is also Jupiter, so really just 5 - but nothing especially interesting was on. You come here for the bottle list, which is solid, boasting a superior lambic lineup to De Drie, but still nothing all that extraordinary, with mostly easy-to-find lambics. Plenty of other interesting bottles as well. Pricier than any other place I’ve been for the same products. Friendly service. Worth a stop when in Utrecht, but seems very overrated to me.“

“Tiny, intimate place that was fairly full on a Sunday mid-afternoon. Just 9 taps, with nothing really extraordinary on other than a vintage Dutch beer that was exquisite. Different beers are served in different sizes, but 0.25L tends to be the smallest. Samples will be given if it’s not a rare beer. The bottle selection is pretty damn solid too, with a particularly impressive list of BA beers from De Molen and other Dutch brewers. Service was... strange: was not acknowledged for 7-8 minutes upon sitting at the bar, then was met with rather abrupt but somehow friendly answers to my simple questions; the lady found it odd that I wanted to sample a few beers at a time. Overall, worth a visit if in Utrecht.“

“A restaurant specializing in serving beers from province Utrecht. Nice touch. Had a quick De Kromme The Original Smokey (which was great) and no more. Tuesday evening, still a reasonable amount of guests. They have some more, I'll be back.“

“Visited on a rainy wednesdaynight. Good seating, overall good vibe. We sat inside but it was possible to sit outdoors and keep dry. The beerselection wasn't great. Some obvious from Belgium and a few dutch beers. Nice to just have a beer but no need to visit if the beerlist is your main priority.“

“Beerstore is old building just outside the city center, near to trainstation Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn. The store itself is not that big, but it looks quite spacious thanks to the design. Beers are grouped by style, excluding most local beers, which are grouped together. Nice assortment of national and international beers, although I did not see many specialties and/or rare beers and the amount was a bit disappointing. Some large refrigerators with chilled beer. Not easy to reach by car, so advised to use public transport. Friendly staff. Decent prices. All in all a neat beer shop, worth a visit when around.“

“Spacious beerstore just outside the city center. Not that easy to reach by car and to find a (all pay) parking space nearby, maybe depending on the time. I came here just in rush hour at the end of the day. Tip if you come by car: Try parking on the Steven Butendiekplein, short walk from here to the shop. Friendly staff. Good selection of local beers, Dutch beers and Belgian beers. Nice selection of German beers. Also quite a lot of other foreign beers, but I particularly noticed the selection of the aforementioned countries. Prices are a bit steep.“

“Big place in the hipster town just south of the city centre. Big draft selection with lots of interesting craft beer, including special variants. Bottle selection has some good stuff, but can be very pricey. Food is allright, but also a bit expensive and not good enough considering they focus on food as well. All in all it's not perfect, but the great draft selection makes it worthwile.“

“Nice, spacious-ish place a bit of the beaten track. Good selection of craft beer, with a focus on Dutch beers. Mostly the usual Dutch craft, but they have nice specials on draft and bottle, including some special Vandestreek beers. Food is nice and the prices are very reasonable. Good place.“

“Small liquor store, conveniently located between the train station and Hoog Catharijne. Exit the train station toward Jaarbeursplein, go left and there it is. Double fridge filled with bottles and cans to go, some highly exclusive and unusual stuff there as well, some nice finds. Prices range from decent to very high. Will use this shop again when I have some time to kill in Utrecht or travel back home by train.“

“Visited on a Saturday afternoon / evening. Nice bright and modern bar. A bit smaller than I expected, but there's plenty of seating upstairs as it turned out. Good range and variety of taps served in various sizes for decent prices, bottles to share were very expensive imho. Had the meat dish of the day, which was very good and different, for a good price. Service was quick and efficient. The place is a bit out of the way, but no more than a 20 min walk from Central Station, 2 mins from Vaartsche Rijn. Would certainly visit again.“

“Nice bottle shop just outside the station area, tucked away in between other (food) shops on the westside of the station hall. I love the whole wall with beer fridges. Nice beer selection with all kind of styles of national and international breweries, including harder to find Thornbridge barrel aged beers and Founders. Good selection of local De Kromme Haring and VandeStreek beers. Decent prices, especially for a station area. Friendly staff. Nice shop to visit for a train or take home beer when around or travelling by.“

“Pretty tiny shop on the outside of Utrecht Central Station, but with a surprisingly large beer selection. One wall is filled with some big fridges full of cans and bottles, and on the other side they have a bunch of non-chilled large format bottles.

Lots of local stuff from Kromme Haring and others, but also quite some (US) imports.

It's not the best shop ever, but for a shop in a train station their selection is awesome, and because it's mostly chilled it's ready to drink in the train (which is allowed). Pretty awesome concept!“

“Visited on a Saturday evening for dinner and some beers. Remote area, 10 minute walk from Utrecht Zuilen station, but apparently in development. Modern looking taproom, 2 levels, looks neat. That’s where the positives ended for our group. Lots of beers not available, some snacks and mains not available, our burgers were cooked through. At least we got one round of beers for free for the inconvenience. Oh, and it smelled like something died / cat litter. Won’t return any time soon.“
