“Loved this place. Kinda in the middle of nowhere, but, not too bad a drive from Iron Mountain. Located in what was the schoolbus garage of a school that closed in the 1960s. It's attached to the main school which has been vacant for years but will soon be turned into apartments. If they're affordable enough I might rent one just to have a UP outpost with a nice brewery on site. Nice comfortable vibe. Large outdoor patio. Bright. Bartender was very friendly and helpful and filled me in on the building's history. Female head brewer which is cool. All locals there. Real family vibe. 12 or so beers on tap. I had IPA. DIPA, porter, dry stout. The stout and IPA were very good. IPA growler shared at McFleshman's was rated as good by 11 people. The DIPA and porter needed some tweaking but were still good. 4 x 4 flight $10.00. Growler was $18, and kinda expensive for the glass ($8). Some snacks available. Overall I loved it here and I will be back. Worth a drive out of the way.“

“It is difficult to doubt Alpha Michigan's claim that it is "the smallest village in America with a brewery." So small that we didn't see another business when we visited on a Sunday, and it sure seemed that most local adults had crowded their way inside the brewery to escape the afternoon rain. The good news is the journey along Michigan Hwy 424 is well worth the effort. The service is top notch (a beer tender quickly broke away from the crowd at the bar every time a new group walked in to seat themselves at a table, an unordered pint of ice cold water appeared with the taster flight and the soft drinks were free), the prices are reasonable ($2.50 for 5-oz tasters and $5.50 for most pints), and the beers are no worse than routine and the best (Naughty School Girl) was excellent.
