“Small rustic brewpub in Grand Marais. Apparently one of the only places in town to get a meal so it was busy even on a Monday late afternoon. Has a lodge-like feel with wood paneling and some animal heads mounted on the wall. There is a long bar, a couple small TVs (only one was on). There are plenty of tables but it’s a cozy one room joint. They had 5 beers on tap when I was there (2 browns, 2 wheats, and an IPA). Beer is pretty good, I really enjoyed the nutcracker brown. Food menu is pretty diverse - salads, burgers, sandwiches, pizza. They have whitefish dishes as well (all sold out when I was there). I ended up having a beef gyro sandwich, which was solid. Since there are really no other options, it’s worth a stop!“

“Stopped by for lunch on a rainy day mid week in late September and the place was jammed at 1:30. Had really good pizza, sat at the bar staff were really nice. They had 5 on draft and tried 3. The stout, the pale ale, and a red ale were all solid. Good beer place in a special place.“

“Downtown. Parking was easy. Busy, but it was a weekend in tourist season. Inside is closed due to COVID but I saw inside and saw a long bar and what looked like comfortable seating. Nice patio and it looks like an expanded outdoor section with picnic tables (makes sense). Did not try the food. Server was socially awkward but friendly and opened up later and we had a nice chat. Four house beers on offer... red IPA, pale ale, two fruited wheats. Nothing to get exciting about. I tried the red IPA and it was solid. Served in a sytro cup, weird, but COVID. You're probably not in Grand Marais for the beer, but, if you find yourself here, stop in.“

“After living in the Soo and spending time with my ol’ buddy from Houghton, we often found ourselves here. Whitefish plates were pretty good. Beers are decent, or some of them. Pretty clean and decent service. You won’t find anything else in Grand Marais, just saying.“

“BEST PLACE EVER (in grand marais)! NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING IS BETTER (in grand marais), VERY BEST SELECTION OF CRAFT BEERS (in grand marais) and BEST SERVICE EVER (in grand marais). GM has one bar, and a population of about 12. SO THIS PLACE ROCKS. Or not. Definitely like to get my drink on here, when I am up there camping and whatnot.“

“UPDATE: We go out of our way to visit Grand Marias to enjoy the lakeshore, the harbor, and the Dunes Saloon. Been there several times, both during the busiest summer season and the slower early fall season. Great experience any time. Good beer, good food, good service. What more can you ask for? Worth the drive from anywhere in the central or eastern U.P.“

“What’s not to like? This is a simple bar with great food and really great beer on tap. The new Michigan smoking ban means that the air in the bar is clear and clean, so it is sae for even those with delicate sensitivities. The service is FAST and attentive – the serving staff managed to be everyone at once and should get kudos for their really hard work. Pizza is awesome as is the very fresh Lake Superior Whitefish and other menu items. It is a fairly rural place and if you want urban refinement and sophistication, well, you’d have to go to Munising for that. And the beer is great too – couldn’t ask for more.“

“Was last here in 2006. A solid local place with a handful of decent beers, some affordable pizza, and the only brewpub scene for many, many, many miles. Very low-key, rural, and laid-back. When I was here, it was surprisingly smokey. Hopefully, that’s changed. It was also rather busy when I was there and the service flagged. Otherwise, if you’re within 50 miles, you should probably go.“
