50 /100 19203 OLD 40 HWY Stopped in for lunch on a Friday heading towards KC. We were the only ones there, had to wait a few minutes for someone to wait on us. Beautiful property on 75 acres, a few lakes and a nice outdoor seating area. It was raining so we sat inside. It is both a brewery and a winery, unfortunately none of their beers were on tap. They had a few guest taps, so we had lunch and headed towards our next stop. Hopefully next time thru the area, they have a few of their beers back on tap. |
64 /100 19203 OLD 40 HWY Visited on a Tuesday before dinner. Located right off of I-70 approximately 45 miles east of Kansas City. Easy to find, well marked entrance. Follow the windy gravel road back to the 2 buildings. The tasting room (for their beer and wine) is located in the log cabin type lodge to the left. The building has a smaller indoor room with the tasting bar, and a larger, pretty, patio that has views over the lake. 8 house beers on offer, available as full pours, taster, or taster tray. The taster are served in ~ 2 oz shot glasses. Pretty grounds, beer was pretty rough. 64 = ★★ (Just ok) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
