“Located in a large strip mall with plenty of parking. Very large "warehouse" liquor store, the largest I’ve ever seen. Rows upon rows of wine, beer and liquor. Service was adequate. Selection was impressive, many bottles and six packs available. Reasonable prices. Definitely worth a stop.“

“Huge place with just about anything that’s available in MO. Wish they had more singles, only three coolers. If you’re looking for a bottle shop in the area, I can’t imagine you’d do better than this place.“

“Huge store with a huge craft beer section and when I say section it was the entire back half of the store. I found a couple nice surprises and there were some solid somewhat limited items in addition to locals and standard offerings. The prices were reasonable. I just happened to pass by this store and glad I stopped in.“

“Great selection of expired beers, and all limited release goes straight to a never ending list. I shop here but unless you want bud light, expired beer or to be pissed someone else got the beer you want I wouldn’t shop here....they got plenty of beer and wine tho“

“Huge fucken warehouse with a gigantic selection. From my experience, most of their German beer has be rotting seemingly for ages, but their American selection seems to be a bit more fresh. I try to stop by here every time I’m in KC.“

“Very big store with beer, wine, liquor, everything. Their beer selection is among the best in the KC area. Pretty much anything distributed to KC will be in Lukas. I would go here more often if it wasn’t so far south from where I live. They also have mixer sixers in the coolers, which is nice, but it doesn’t seem like they switch up the beer singles available for it very often.“

“Favorite beer shopping location in Kansas City. Great selection, can always find little treasures on the shelves and in the coolers. Staff never seems up on stuff, though, so you’ll have to find those treasures on your own.“

“Very large store with excellent selection. Always seem to find a good number of new choices. Single selection could be better. Being from Kansas this Missouri store is worth the trip. When you do find some assistance they are generally very knowledgeable.“

“One of the best 2 stores in KC (other being Royal and not including Lee Summit). Largest liquor store I have ever been to. Very clean and well lit. Nothing special about its looks otherwise but nothing bad. Selection is humongous, everything that is around. Their import section may be the best in town. Staff always asks if you need help upon entering (I always say no). They have a lot of other stuff to buy. They finally started selling glassware. Lots of beer in fridges, singles are good but could be better. Once in a while some good sales and discount beers. If you have to visit only one store and want a cleaner experience go here.“

“Gigantic place, mostly a wine store but they have all kinds of beer too. I normally have to spend about 30 minutes just to walk around a get my head into what i really need to grab that i won’t be able to get somewhere else.“

“Basically just a warehouse with lots of liqour and a wide selection of beer- mostly six packs. light selection of german, belgian, and euro bottles- would have thought quantity would be bigger, but pretty diverse.. good microbrew selection, but again, mostly just six packs, no singles and their BYO section sucks, i barely found 6 beers to fill my six pack, very disappointing. But this place dis have 3 smoked beers i had never had so i left happy. worth a stop for sure! .. but the staff are ridiculous, no one greeted me, no one offered help and not a soul in the beer department, pathetic in that stance...“

“It’s a warehouse that sells beer. Lots of beer, probably the best selection in the area. What they lack in unique items they make for in sheer volume. Decent mix-six selection, and lots of beer both on the floor and cold behind glass. If you’re in the area and a beer geek you owe it to yourself to check it out.“

“Definitely lacking the ambience bc of the size of the store, but definitely makes up with the selection and service. If there is a beer in KC and you can’t find it, its at lukas. If not there, its not sold in Missouri. 99% of the time they have the best prices and get the most of allocated beers like hopslam or anything from founder’s. They are constantly adding beer while their distributors add more. Great make your own six pack selection, staff is helpful but not pushy. The only problem making a choice and not spending more than you planned!!“

“This liquor store is enormous. They have a huge selection and the prices are decent. The only place better in the KC area is the Gomers in Lees Summit.“

“Although it is kinda far from everywhere. I LOVE THIS STORE! Huge SqFt warehouse style. Beer is to the back. Lots of doors. Many many breweries to choose from. The best prices I’ve found so far! Lots of big beers. Lots of rarities from lots of breweries. Boulevard smokestack series, New Belgium Lips of Faith(s). For me, perfect for beer hunting. A good bit of beer from the NE and PNW that do not make it to Georgia. Southern Tier, Pyramid, New Belgium, Bells, Odell, Boulevard, Schlafly, much more. 6pk sampler selection was great. Easily 250 different singles. And good ones, mostly the small local guys, not a bunch of Macro BS. The staff were really cool. Invited me back to check out the beer tastings. A guess some distributors show up and sample pour the newest of their wares. Wine tasting classroom available too.“

“No need for a long review. This place is simply the BEST BEER STORE IN KC. They carry everything the distributor brings in. Huge selection of beers I’ve seen nowhere else, knowledgeable staff, good stock rotation and no one bugging you while you look. The one drawback is the distance from damn near everything. I live north of the river and it takes over 30 minutes to get there, all highway.“

“The largest selection of beer in Kansas City by far. Definitely supermarket-esque. Huuuge amount of wine and liquor too. They do a good job of getting new seasonals from whats available. The main beer guy is very friendly and knowledgable. Sure, they don’t get FFF, Oskar Blues, RR, Stone, DFH, or Alesmith...but thats not up to them. I’m sure if a distributor carried any of those, Lukas would jump all over the opportunity. Pretty big build your own six pack selection too. One of my go to places in KC for sure.“

“I make the weekly beer tastings every Saturday and appreciate the efforts and knowledge offered by Lukas, and Mark in particular. One big concern of mine is the inability of local wholesalers to draw in the really good IPA’s, such as Three Floyd’s from Indiana, Gordons and Dales from Oskar Blues in Lyons, CO, and California products such as Russian River’s Pliny, Stone and Alestream. Lukas does get several quality products such as Hop Rod Rye, Racer 5, O’Dells IPA, Southern Tier, Great Divide Hercules and on rare ocasion Bell’s Hop Slam. KC Boulevard has stepped forward with their Singlewide, too.“

“If you need a rare -- seriously rare -- beer in Kansas City, this is the best place I’ve found to hunt one down. The supermarket feel definitely won’t match the cozy atmosphere of some smaller stores, but few places in town match the quantity of Lukas. For Northlanders like myself, the drive is ridiculously long to Martin City, but hey, just stop in at Jack Stack while you’re in the neighborhood! Wide variety of super-rare 100s like Nogne 0, Mikkeler Brunch, etc. that you’re unlikely to find at the local Gomer’s. Friendly staff, but not a lot of interaction or pressure. I personally enjoy that, but you may have to flag down help if you can’t find what you’re hunting.“

“Me and my friends call this beer heaven. This is the best place to go in the Kansas City area. Its a bit of a drive if you are north at all but its absolutely worth the drive. Its not really in Kansas City but Martin City, I think. Its past Grandview and almost to Belton. Great mix-a-six selection and more imports than I’ve ever seen.“

“About the best selection on the KC, Mo side. Prices are good. Extensive mix a six. I would direct out of town people to this store above all others. My one problem with the place is it closes pretty early at night.“

“If you want a TRUE selection of beers, this is the place. They carry many craft beers of the region and some hard to find imports. (Side note: Their Wine and Liquor selection is extensive too.)“

“If you were to make one stop in Kansas City to buy beer, this would be it. Lots of space devoted to craft beer. Wide selection of American micros, Belgians, and other European beers as well as cider. Lots of cooler space for good beer. Good selection for build you own six pack, both warm and cold. You should be able to find someone there who can answer beer questions. They hold weekly tastings as well as some other special events. If you are into wine, they have a fantastic selection as well as a wine bar next door.“

“Pretty much the beer-Mecca for about a 150 mile radius around Kansas City. You would have to drive about 3 hours to Omaha or Wichita, or 4 hours to St. Louis to find a comparable selection of craft beer. Picture a store the size of your local Wal-Mart and replace all of the shelves full of diapers, auto supplies and miscellaneous consumer goods with wine, beer and liquor. 2 shelves that run the length of the store display American micros, regional brews and beers from around the world. If you can get it in Missouri, including most special releases, it’s usually here, at least while it lasts. The entire back of the store is a row of cooler doors all of which are devoted to beer (save a few) and the majority of that space is for craft beer. The BMC stuff gets about a third of it and a the majority of a large open floor area on the north side of the store. Phil, the beer manager, is a good guy and keeps the store’s beer blog (link above) updated every few weeks. You can mix-a-six from about 250-300 different beers (on the shelf or in the cooler), but unfortunately you can’t break the higher end 4 or 6 packs. So, if you want to try the 12oz barley wines, impy stouts, specialties and imports, you’ll have to pony up for the whole pack. If you’re driving through the area, this is the place to go, and it’s only a few miles south of the loop.“

“the costco of liquor stores is a more apt description of this place. they have a nice selection, no doubt about it, beats the hell outta gomers (what happened to them?!) and they have everything royal has, just more of it. it’s cleaner and has more room than gomers or royal, but has an empty carvernous warehouse feel. nice prices though it’s not worth driving way the hell out to 135th for, especially when they were closed for thanksgiving. in the right plart of town and with a little less vacant feeling, this could be an amazing store...but it isn’t, unless you need a couple dozen bottles of outdated tusker or a couple cases of crappy gluten-free beer. kc is destined to remain pitifully low on the beer-culture radar.“

“I live equal distance to Lukas and Royal. I hit both, but over the past six months I think Lukas has eclipsed Royal for selection and overall beer focus. Incredible selection. Good array of make your six pack. Tasting everyday Saturday. This is likely the best bottle shop in Kansas City.

82 = ★★★½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Quite a bit out of the way for me but worth the trip. Great selection here and prices are right. Absolutely on top of the bottled beer scene in KC at the moment, and the one stop I’d recommend anyone from out of town make if possible. “

“Quickly becoming the best beer store in KC, if its not already. Currently in the process of adding 60 or so new beers. Jeremy is happy to help and knows what’s going on. Most of the beer is on shelves, but lights are kept low. Bell’s Expedition Stout is the class of the selection. Loads of other regional items. Lots of Belgians, lamics, English ales. I hope they get more new stuff soon.“
