“Classic New England business in a former...house? Inn? Now it's a brewpub. Good enough looking food options and about 14 Moat selections on tap. The "flight" option is a Hobson's Choice with a pre-arranged selection of 8 beers. I don't love their beers, some are okay, but a nice place to meet up with friends, try a beer or two, and grab some decent pub food.“

“Large diner feel restaurant with a bunch of different rooms. Stopped in for lunch and enjoyed the BBQ. A flight of all available beers is an option, and it was not one I particularly enjoyed. Some of the beers were decent but a number were very subpar. Worth a stop in an area without many options, but certainly not essential.“

“Kurz für nen Happen und ein paar Bier reingeschneit. Aufgebaut wie eine Scheune, Flotte Bedienung, Essen kam zügig. Letzteres dann eher Durchschnitt, Bier passt. Nettes Merchandising. Flights sind möglich.“

“Beer is in the back of a convenience store. Decent selection of NH & ME beer, average for other areas. Service is limited and prices are average.“

“Great little store with over 400 different beers, including many local and regional brews. Helpful and friendly staff. ALL beers are available as singles (unlike most other bottle shops). Decent prices. Don't skip this place if you're beer hunting!“

“I meant to stop at this place on the way in but due to a GPS mishap I missed it. Made the effort on the way back, however. I ended up parking at the market nearby and walking back, which was no problem. The building is fairly large with a decent bar and quit a bit of restaurant tables. Service was quite attentive at the bar. The flight was indeed a great deal, but I oped to just go with the Czech Pils, which was not horrible but did not hold up against some of the others I sampled on this trip. Did not try the food.“

“After a nice hike of Mount Jackson in Crawford Notch, we continued south and hit Moat Mountain for lunch and some beers.

The signage outside is a little misleading (seems to tell you to turn after you’ve already passed the place) and make this place a little tough to find at first and our GPS didn’t do a terribly good job of locating it either, but it’s sort of obvious once you get there.

Large building with a nice bar area and more restaurant space. Brewhouse seems to be downstairs, which is kind of neat. At the bar, they have all the mugclub mugs hanging which I also thought was kind of cool. They have a lot of beers on tap here. The flight of their eight normal drafts costs $10, which is a really good deal. They also had some special and seasonal beers available. In general, the beers weren’t great, unfortunately.

The food, however, was pretty solid. I mean, it’s mostly brewpub food, but the BBQ is pretty decent as well. Got a brisket sandwich which was really good. The fiancee got an order of nachos which were ridiculously big. The two of us could have been very full from sharing them. Pretty reasonably priced, too.

If you’re around, it’s worth making a stop. But I wouldn’t drive here simply for the purpose of visiting the brewpub as their beers aren’t that great and the normal stuff is available all over the place.“

“Visited 20160219. Building is beautiful. Lots of skiing people around. Had ~12 own beers on tap. Sampler of 8 beer was available but I had only one pint and salad.“

“A bit tough to find, this place needs better signage. Really big place, probably a very busy local spot. Service was a little flippant, not very friendly. The menu of food is huge, so you have lots of choices. A couple items were ok but nothing special. They charged me or BBQ sauce which was really strange. The beers were ok, but nothing stood out. At least they tasted slightly different.“

“From the outside, you can’t imagine this is some kind of beer store. In fact, we missed it then turned back when the GPS told us we passed it. Inside, there’s the chips, the sandwtches and there’s this beer fridge. Inside you can find some good classic like some Sierra Nevada Extra Pale, etc. In the back, here’s where you find the great stuff, some Lagunitas, DFH, etc. After a few minutes of grabbing some beer here and there, someone came and asked me if I wanted help and took some of my beer near the cashier, which I liked. He helped choose some good beer.“

“The food is amazing. The smoked brisket sandwich is really good. Ambiance is really good too, like their toilet... hehe. It looks like it’s Christmas in the toilet with their lighting. The beer is so so, not good but not bad. The service is really good. I didn’t know which beer to order so I was offered a few tasters to help me make up my mind. Really glad I stopped by. Will sure come back next time I’m around.“

“A nice brewery tucked away in New Hampshire not too far from Mount Washington and plenty of hiking. The food is pretty dang good and I particularly enjoyed the brisket. The beers are tasty but poured with little carbonation and head. Our waitress was not very attentive but others seemed more so.“

“Charming old house converted to restaurant brewpub. Extremely friendly and welcoming, good BBQ (we shared the brisket), decent beers with a great value for a flight of tasters. Great family vibe, the kids loved it! The score of 4 for ambiance is based on the family feel. We’d go back.“

“Easy to miss little convenience store just off the highway heading away from Moat Mountain, blink and you’ll miss it. Rather astonishing selection for such a little place, although completely scattered around the store in a haphazard fashion. Beer is randomly stashed in seemingly every conceivable space: in coolers, on grocery shelves, on wire racks, in little cubbys, in their own boxes on the floor, and just tilting on the countertop at checkout. For us, service was non existent. We initially thought we were alone in the store until the phone rang and a guy came out to answer it. He never got off the phone for our entire transaction lol!“

“Drove up here from a recent trip to So. NH for lunch. We weren’t disappointed. The brewpub is in an old converted house. It is a great setting, with small rooms all over for dining. There was a decent selection of their beers, as well as a couple of guest taps. The beers are good. I only had one, but the blueberry was tasty: not excessive on the blueberries. My wife had the Pale Ale and the Weiss, which were tasty also. The menu was good. We were there for lunch and the sandwiches were excellent. I had the pastrami and it was lean and tasty. The Cajun Fries were superb. It is worth going there just for them. Our server was very attentive and quite helpful. It is a bit out of the way, but well worth the trip!“

“Huge old farmhouse converted into a restaurant with micro brewery downstairs. We visited on a Friday evening and the parking indicated allready a crowded place. And it was, we waited 30 minutes before being seated. Because I was driving only had one beer, a pale ale, tasted good. Teh burger was fantastic. BEcause it was so busy service was although they tried not so friendly.“

“This is a quaint country store located on the North Conway-Jackson town line with a halfway decent beer selection in the back room. They also sold you slices of pizza and you had a store full of snacks and other convenience items you could pick up. The beer selection is more than adequate for people who live in this area with a good number of locals such as Tuckerman, Squam, White Birch, and Shipyard. They had most of the available Allagash and Ommegang line that you can find in NH. As I write this Founders just arrived in the state and they had some of those. If you are enjoying the White Mountain National Forest or one of the ski areas this would be a good place for a craft beer lover to stop to bring something back to the room.“

“Watch where you are driving or you might miss the entrance. I did. Parking is limited. When you enter the brewpub you are greeted with the tops of the steel barrels sticking out from the cellar where all the brewing takes place. There is a dining room as well as a bar with a granite top. They sell you five 5 oz. samples for $5 and $1 for each additional 5 oz. sampled (up to three more) that you want to add to the plank. The food tends to have a smoky character to it with some interesting takes on standard comfort foods. My choice was the bison quesadilla. I found that the beer prices were less expensive in the pub than they are in the bottles/cans that are sold around New Hampshire.“

“I’ve been here a few times over the years, we stopped here on the way home from Ebeneezer’s and this review reflects that visit. The restaurant is in an huge old restored farmhouse, there are rooms for rent upstairs with a bar area out back. Brew house is behind glass downstairs from the bar. We sat at the bar for a late lunch. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and our beers were solid if not unremarkable. For a place with smokehouse in the name you would expect to find great bbq, So that’s what I ordered. I had a brisket and sausage chili which was the highlight of my meal. The pulled pork platter came with mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The pork was slathered to the rafters in sweet sticky barbeque sauce but even underneath the sauce the meat seemed dry. The slaw was really nice and the taters were taters. Typical resort town pricing a bit on the high side. I would go back and give them another shot, but this trip wasn’t horribly impressive.“

“The mapped location for this isn’t great. See thornecb’s review for better directions. The selection is decent. I wouldn’t call it particularly notable, but they have a good selection of regional brews and plenty of good Seasonal in quantity. I scored some of the freshest batch of Maine Beer Peeper here. Friendly and helpful staff and reasonable prices.“

“A good stop if your heading back from a day hike in the whites or if you’ve been out camping for a few days, its a great stop ! My wife and I headed out for an early spring day hike and hit this place up for lunch. We shared a full serving of smoked ribs and they were really good but a huge portion... we didnt even get to the toast, coleslaw and mashed potatoes that were served under the rack of ribs... anyway the beer is solid with a good varied menu of 8+ in house brews. Worth a visit to get the sampler a little snack and leave with a few growlers.... on a side note we purchased three growlers and our waiter said they would stay fresh without opening them for a about a week even though the growler says to consume within 24hours... that being said they poured great within the week time frame and I even set the stout aside in the back of the fridge for 2+ weeks and when i finally opened it it had all the bubble and flavor that it did when I sampled it... PLEASED and ready to grab some refills. Try the IRON MIKE too !“

“Discount Beverages is located on Route 302 just after the split with 16 past Shaw’s and before Wal-Mart. They have ramped up their quantity and quality of (especially local) beer selection and now take credit cards...so they have kicked it up a notch. Beers are now stacked down the center aisle and racked to the right of the store. Back of the store holds a very large cooler with displays on 3 sides. Lots of local (Moat, Woodstock) beers not seen elsewhere on local trips. Very friendly staff at check-out.“

“Stopped into this small General Store on Rt. 16 north of Moat. NIce old-time general store feel to the place with coolers on the wall in front as you walk in. Real finds are around the corner and to the back where there is a small room of high quality beers. Service is excellent as I was shown quality beers and new releases. Selection is good for the area with a few beers I could not find in the Boston area. Food is general store quality. Prices are reasonable for the area. I’ll be coming back next time I’m in the area to see what’s new, but with the relatively low“

“Moat Mountain Smoke House and brewing co: Serve was friendly unlike some rumors we heard. Overall the craft beer is really fresh and slightly above average. Beer and food is what you would expect to pay at any brew pub near a vacation spot. The value is the taste. The brisket and rack of ribs were very tasty and well prepared and was served quickly after ordering. However we ate at lunchtime and I would expect to wait longer at dinner time. I would recommend making a trip here if you are anywhere in northern NH. Me, personally will be making a trip back at a later time! Good place, good food and good craft beer.“

Overall it is a nice place to enjoy a pint of decent beer and good food. “

“This was a really nice, cosy place to sit at the bar on a Sunday evening at the tail end of the Winter season with just (friendly) locals around, while the snow was falling, knowing that we only had to wander back across the road to an adjacent motel afterwards. 6 beers on tap were OK although nothing exceptional, but sometimes it’s about more than just the beer quality. A very enjoyable stop. Might be rather less relaxing and congenial at the weekend or the at the height of the season. Didn’t eat.“

“Cool place to grab a bite and a few brews. The food was really pretty great, more so than I expected. Hush Puppies with maple syrup were a very cool app available. There were 5 beers available that they brew, of which we had a Smoked Bock, Pale Ale and Brown Ale. The Bock was aromatically very smoky, but not too imposing on the palate. Not bad. Pale Ale was quite hoppy and fresh, and the Brown Ale was middle of the road, easy drinking. Would definitely go back based on the space, an old, large house with several dining rooms. Cool spot.“

“Situated in an old house. Each room has a fireplace with the exception of the bar area. Food wise, they offer a full menu and feature some great meat dishes. Beer wise, they have 6-7 of their own on along with another 6 guest taps. Service is good and beer to go is available. Worth a stop if in the area.“

“This is a HUGE pub, sits a few hundreds. Divided in many sections and I really didn’t like the restaurant sections. Just too basic family friendly restaurant for me. Thankfully we can eat in the pub section and it has a nice pub atmosphere. They had 8 homebrews on tap + 3 boring guess beer. I had a few of their beer and most session beers were decent session beer. The stronger offering was a failure. The food is nice and affordable and definitely not for those on a diet. You can eat a full meal for $10 to $20. At $20 you get the combo platter and you need to be very hungry. We were there on a very busy night, the staff was running around like crazy but we still got an excellent and quick service. Important note: This place can get quite busy during tourist season. There was a 45 minutes wait for a table on a Saturday night. All in all this place is really worth a stop if you are in the area.“

“The beer at Moat is nothing to rave about but still it is freshly brewed craft beer which beats what most other restaurants have to offer. I thought they actually did a pretty good job with their porter which is a style I am often dissapointed with at other brewpubs. This could be partly attributed to the fact that I was so underwhelmed by their other styles. We keep going back mostly because they have a good selection of good food.“

“nice historic building with a good view of Mount Washington. Ate dinner here and the barbeque was good. If you don’t like it slathered in bbq sauce I would recommend asking for it on the side. None of the beer styles on were very adventurous, but they were well crafted. A big plus is that you can rent rooms in the inn upstairs, and if you want to go somewhere else to try some rare/vintage beers, Ebenezeer’s Pub in Lovell, Maine is a half an hour away.“

“This establishment has a warm and inviting atmosphere without being dark or industrial. The restaurant itself is always clean. While I have always had excellent service, the last waiter I had was only 20, and could only describe the beers by what they looked like. I felt that he could have asked someone working their (perhaps a brew master) for more information, since he probably would get that question a lot. They have plenty of their own beers available and only a few macro brews, which I found perfectly acceptable. I don’t think you should go to a brew pub and ask for Miller anyhow. They have quite a large variety of foods available, including some vegetarian options. I was quite impressed with my flat bread pizza. I would eat their again and I do usually eat there when I’m in the Conway area.“

“Stopped here for lunch and were quite happy with that decision. Nice seating choices: in the bar, the closed-in patio, or one of the rooms inside. Food was excellent, with some uncommon, but not too strange choices. The beers we tried were excellent, with good variety of styles.“

“Good list of house brews on tap, as well as a few macros for the unadventurous. Food is a very good chemistry of American boldness and creative tastiness. This great food somewhat overshadows the average beers of which the Hoffman Weiss is dominating, imho. If in the region, a stopover is fun, especially if you are hungry, but otherwise I can’t say this brewpub’s beers stand out much in the New England beer seene.“
