42 /100 1500 KINGS HIGHWAY Ok passed the brewery twice. Tucked away in the back of a old printing shop. Has a college/back yard/garage homebrewer feel. Not the cleanest place. Sat outside and had a flight (that had no board) so juggling the beers without dropping them was fun. Then the wooden table was infested in ants. Sorry Lunacy not trying to complain, but if your going for the grungy, high school garage band feel you’ve succeeded. Beers were ok, several on tap. More beers then expected after seeing the brewing equipment. Probably my last visit to Lunacy. I’ll stick to trying their stuff out at festivals. |
72 /100 1500 KINGS HIGHWAY Small closet brewery in an Industrial Park. Atmosphere is little more than a garage. Tiny and cramped if crowded and it was. Beers were decent. Looks like they are trying to experiment. It’ll be interesting to revisit in a few months as some of their beers still need to be dialed in. Service was great. Everyone was super friendly. |
72 /100 1500 KINGS HIGHWAY Interesting new brewery in Magnolia, NJ. The place definitely has a man cave look and feel. It’s a little hard to find being behind and sharing an envelope printing company (you have to walk through the printing place to get to the bathroom...lol!). The people are really nice/cool...family and friends operation. As for the beers...nice effort for early in their life. Although none were what I would call amazing...several were definitely pretty good. I liked the Moon Howler Pale & the Lunacy IPA. The Beautiful Baby Belgium Blonde was a solid offering too (seemed like my batch was good in reference to the review before me). The Rocket Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout though didn’t seem to have a strong flavor of either...especially of the peanut butter...but it’s not an easy one to pull off (Sweet Baby Jesus being the standard probably). There was also a double IPA. They had some finger food when I was there...including soft pretzels with dips. All in all...a good place to visit when nearby...easy to combine with a Spellbound and Village Idiot tour. |
40 /100 1500 KINGS HIGHWAY Swung by on a tour. Place is well-hidden in the back of a commercial lot. Very cramped; minimal seating. It’s a semi-converted printing company.
4 beers on tap - belgian blonde, PB stout, IPA, and pale ale. The IPA and pale ale were decent. The Belgian Blonde was clearly contaminated, tasted like pure vinegar, and absolutely should not have been served.
Rocket PB stout tasted like it spent 20 minutes in the fermenter; bitter chocolate and nothing else. |
64 /100 1500 KINGS HIGHWAY The low total overall is a bit misleading as I would highly recommend visiting. This is merely a tasting room inside a small brewery situated in an industrial park and the selection is limited to 3 or 4 of their small batch beers. When I visited, things were a bit under construction as they are working to improve your experience. But these guys are outstanding and friendly fellows making some nice beer. I expect good things and I hope to visit again. |
