“Just off the main drag in Huntington, Six Harbors is a bright, contemporary space with plenty of seating for tasting or events. 8 beers on tap the day I was there, a mix of standard styles (IPAs) and more traditional stuff. No food on site, but there's a Thai restaurant next door that delivers and you are less than 4 blocks from 3 or 4 world class pizza joints. Good price for what you get. Worth ducking into if you're in town or on your way to Sand City.“

“A standalone one story building housing the brewery and the taproom near the Fire Station in Huntington. 7 of their beers and one guest beer on tap. Mostly low alcohol stuff. Four vats at the back, brewing the next batch. No food except for chips. Tastefully decorated; not so large but airy and brightly lit place, parking available outside. Flights, growlers and crowlers available. No need to change your route for, but new and seem to be working on getting better.“

“About a 10min drive from Shoreline Beverage. Non-descript single story building lost amid a sea of strip malls. The selection is solid, 8 taps for growlers and half of them at typically very interesting. Bottle selection is excellent, good locals, good regionals, and interesting items that don’t get big distro on the East Coast (Midnight Sun, Crooked Stave, etc). Decent ciders too. The import section is about a third of the size of the domestics, but it’s solid. The staff here is extremely helpful and friendly. Prices are solid. Shoreline has many of the same products for $1-$3 more. Shoreline has more growlers and a slightly larger selection, but Superstar has a much better staff and better prices. You decide.“

“Stopped by after dinner on a Saturday night. Smallish space right on Main Street in Huntington, about 5min walk from Nags Head. Nice space, dark wood, upscale feel. Tap list was very solid, including a few more obscure breweries that Nags Head would never stock (Grimm, Carton, etc). Didn’t try the food, but I most certainly would. A bit higher priced than other spots in the area, but you’re paying for quality. Good bartenders.“

“Been here a few times as my in laws live nearby. 20 taps, 10 or so are NY specific locals. Fairly large bar with a bit of a younger, college-y atmosphere. Didn’t try the food. Bartender was very attentive and relatively knowledgeable. Worth stopping through if you’re in the area.“

“This is the second Superstar I have tried, and this one is definitely superior to the Melville location. They have a nice growler list on my visit, and the staff was very friendly. All the craft is right up front, so you don’t have to do too much hunting to find anything. The staff is friendly and happy to offer suggestions or talk beer. I’ll happily return here even though it is a little more of a trek for me than the Melville spot.“

“Wow. I visited Superstar after going to Big Z, and its absolutely night and day. Where Big Z is dark dank, empty, depressing and uninviting, Superstar is nicely lit, clean, has an awesome selection and has an awesome staff. Their growler section has a decent variety (scored (2) 32oz’ers of Founders Backwoods Bastard). Spent some time talking shop with one of the staff and he was extremely friendly and helpful. The prices are right and they occasionally release some rare bottles from their cellar. looking forward to returning.“

“A small, and I mean small, restaurant in downtown Huntington. On a Saturday evening, it was packed and there was a wait for a table. The beer list (when I was there in early 2012) was largely regional but a recent peek at their draft list includes Dark Horse, Bear Republic, Founders, Goose Island, etc. The food menu is slightly upscale (most entrees $20)- I got the shepherd’s pie, which I was a little disappointed with, but my husband’s lamb meatloaf was tasty. Overall, definitely a great craft beer list for the area. Slightly pricey (I guess not that out of line for the area), food can be hit or miss. Get there early for sure.“

“Awesome service, great food and a stellar beer selection. For Long Island this place is a rarity and as a recent transplant from New England I’m not biased. The owner has been in house talking to customers each of the three times I’ve stopped in. Look forward to at least 1 Long Island brewery on tap, 3 or 4 from NY state and the remainder all craft breweries.“

“This is a nice neighborhood bar. It stays open late in the midweek which is the reason we discovered it. We left right before 1am and no last call had been given. It looked like it had around 15 taps with all of them microbrews except one for Guinness. Friendly bartender. Lame policy for credit cards - have to purchase more than $25 to use one.“

“Decent place. Decent selection. Nothing amazing or very unusual, though I found a couple bottles of KBS there. Prices a little on the high side. Nice with the draft samples. One guy there knew a lot a bout beer, seemed to actually like the stuff a lot. Long Island is in desperate need of a real good beer store.“

“Kind of a disappointment. After seeing what had been said in reviews I had hoped for more. Not that it is a bad store, but obviously the 2 top ratings are either by employees or friends/family. It’s a worthwhile stop nonetheless, as they do have an excellent selection. Prices seemed a bit out of wack with Shoreline & Big Z which are just minutes away. They did have some tough to find beers though. Decent, if not pedestrian growler station. They did have 3 Avery beers on tap for some reason. If this is where you are, you will find something you like, but I’ll be skipping this one for the other guys.“

“Great place. two long rows of american craft (esp. NY), imports. Lots of belgians, german, british etc. I got three mix&match 6 packs. I didn’t ask for service help, but the lady at the counter was nice enough and good looking (extra bonus - usually older men work the bottle shops). A few growler taps, but I wasn’t that interested in buying volume tonight. The place itself was a little hard to find and set back from the road. But once I got there, I was very happy with the selection. It was good for long island beer and certainly better than most places I’ve seen in eastern suffolk county. Next time, I think i’ll go with a clearer idea of what I want, rather than grabbing pseudo-randomly off the shelves. Prices seemed right as well, but some of the beers where dusty. I was the only one in the store buying craft stuff.“

“I have to admit that I had read a lot of glowing reviews of this place and was super overhyped to visit it, but it left me feeling totally blase. This place was like a bunker and was somewhat hard to locate. The selection was solid enough, but maybe I’m spoiled where I live, because I didn’t find it to be spectacular. Pretty solid selection of west coast beers though, which was impressive. Picked up an excellent bomber of Southampton Porter here along with a few other things. The service was pretty much non existent and I didn’t even see the vaunted growler fill station that I’d read so much about. All in all, a solid place but not the revelation I’d been hoping for.“

“As I said with Big Z, it’s a toss up who has the best selection on L.I. They have the better Import selection. But overall I can’t say. Depends on what you are looking for. Service here is spotty. Sometimes excellent, sometimes lousy. Unfortunately it’s too often lousy or slightly better than lousy. No question though as to whether you want to stop in here. It’s awesome. Great selection of bombers & 750’s. I never leave without finding something different. Like Big Z they seem to be able to get great stuff that no one else seems to be able to get. Prices are a bit high for my tastes, but not so bad that I don’t buy something every time I am here. They have a cool growler station that rivals anyone on L.I. on a good week, but can bore you on a bad week. Make the trip. It’s worth it.“

“Awesome selection- one row of imports and one of American beers. Cantillon, 3 Fonteinen (only place I’ve seen Schaerbeekse), Nogne O, Olfabrikken, Jolly Pumpkin, Southampton, Captain Lawrence, Goose Island, Bear Republic, Hair of the Dog among many many others. Small tap station (4 taps I think) that’s been slowly improving. Also offers the option of a 10 oz. growler fill, which is pretty unique. Prices are ok, can be slightly more expensive than other stores in the area (Big Z’s). Anyway, you’ve got to check this place out, it is awesome- lots of different beers to choose from.“

“Last time I was at Superstar was over 2 years and after walking in there today, it definitely seemed like a completely different store than what I had remembered. Very impressive selection of microbrews. They have a growler station with 4 taps(currently Sixpoint Hop Obama, Blue Point Rye Spring Fling, Magic Hat(?) and Stone Smoked Porter). Great service. Was talking with Neil who is one of the owners. He was extremely friendly and helpful and also definitely seems to be interested in upgrading the quality of the store even further. Decent selection of imports but the strong point of this store is their quantity and quality of their microbrews. Definitely will be back here again sometime soon.“

“Shoreline Beverages has the best beer selection anywhere on Long Island. They have a fabulous selection of micros and an amazing selection of quality imports especially with their Belgian selection. For example, where else on Long Island can you find a variety of Cantillon beers like you can find at Shoreline???....nowhere!!! I have been going here for years and have always been happy coming here. The owner Stu has always been gracious, polite and helpful to me. He is not a beer drinker but is always on the lookout for new beers to continously upgrade his already stellar selection of beer. Also, they are very generous in always giving away free glassware with beer purchases. From my many visits to Shoreline, I have amassed a great selection of glassware. Only slight negative is that Shoreline does have a growler system set up but usually the beers are not of any interest to me. Definitely needs to improve the quality of the beers(more Captain Lawrence and Southampton would be good) on the growler system but that does not take away from the great selection of bottled beers. Also, of some importance, Shoreline does have the best prices on their bottled beers compared to their local competition(Superstar and Big Z) Bottom line is that Shoreline has set the standard that other beer stores on Long Island are trying to live up.“

“I don’t know. Somehow reading these other ratings I feel that I visited a different place. Upon leaving, and not buying anything, I rechecked the name just to make sure. In general it seemed like it was rows and rows of junk beer with a little special section in the back. Really, however, there was nothing that made me feel like I had to get it now or it would be forever lost to time. I would say pass in favor of several other places on Long Island, but I may have just caught them on an off day.“

“Tucked away in a corner of 110. It is easy to miss if you are not looking for it as it almost looks like a warehouse from the outside. Additionally, it feels as if I was breaking some kind of rule by parking in their lot. The selection is highly decent. All the good stuff is in one aisle. SouthHampton and Weyerbacher were the big rarities to me, but they also had more common micros such as Stone and Rogue. I’ll be stopping in there again, but not often until I start to exhaust the closer locations a little more thoroughly.“

“Great, huge and diversified selection. Victory, Stone, Goose Island, Weyerbacher, Southampton are just a few of the US craft brews. The place is a little dirty, no big deal. The prices on some of the exports are high. $12 and change for a 750 ml of Chimay Blue? UPDATE: Dec 23 ’07 Back again, lots of new stuff. Troegs, Alesmith Holiday Yulesmith, Hair of the Dog to name a few. Stu, the owner took off an extra $5 from the bill after I used a coupon for $5, plus free glasses all around. The staff was helpful as well. This place is definitely a must visit if you’re in the area. I bumped the service and overall ratings on this past re-rate. Back again: Nov 22 "08 Stu’s got Mikkellers, and quite a few more American craft brews like Smuttynose Big IPA and Arcadia Cereal Killer. I made the mistake of skipping over his tap beers. He’s usually got some good ones like a Southampton or a Blue Point, but I forgot to check out what he had this time. Still the place to beat in the area. 9/27/09: Found some really rare stuff this time: Nogne, Dark Horizon 2nd edition, Alesmith IPA. I only bought 6 bombers and Stu still gave me a nice Chimay glass. 6/18/10: More new stuff on the shelves like Nebraska, The Bruery, Ballast Point, Pretty Things, and Brewdog. My brother and I got a couple of nice Southampton T-shirts from Stu along with a pair of Stella glasses. Still a great place and it seems he’s got the best prices around now. Update: 5/24/15, Still the best show in the region. Good prices and great selection. Stu’s got some really hard to find and unusual beers on his shelves, which is why his selection rating is now up to 15 from me“

“High ceilings, well lit, and extremely friendly/helpful service. They sell loose bottles from 6-packs, their selection is thorough, but not very extensive, they have not only craft, but they have a good third-world lager selection (for those interested in new countries) I found the Cyprus Pale Lager called KEO. Overall the selection is decent, fairly priced, and there’s very friendly service. If I lived on Long Island I would be a regular here.“

“This has quickly become my go-to place for beer on the island - they carry virtually everything one can get in the area, and if they don’t have it, they are more than happy to try to get it for you - the guy that runs the place really knows, and more importantly, loves his beer, and will talk about it with whomever is willing (and boy am I willing) - the growler system is an added bonus, but the beers don’t seem to rotate very fast - their import selection (the belgians in particular) isn’t nearly as impressive as it is in (*cough, cough*), but is still quite extensive - it doesn’t rival the stores in Brooklyn and Manhattan, but on Long Island that’s pretty much impossible, so if you’re a local, this place is great - the selection, and the friendliness of the staff, make this a very welcome alternative to (*cough, cough*).“

“I been going to this place for along time and it just keeps on getting better. They recently re-configured the whole entire store in - order of origin... meaning imports all together sorted by country and micro all together sorted by state...their stock is amazing, NO OLD BEER - and the prices are amazing. They let you mix-n-match a six pk from any beer in the store and then give you a discount on it...i especially liked this because it doesnt limit my choices in-order to get a good deal like most other distributors do. They recently got in sam adams irish red ale and long shot that is not available on long island to my understanding. They also are getting me some sam adams triple bock that i have not been able to get in five years. The store is exceptionally clean and organized and the staff goes out of their way to help you, and they know their products too... unlike the local competition who could barely make and educated suggestion. Also i recomend signing up for their beer lover club... i automatically received a discount/coupon sheet and got my first email update that day to tell me about the sam triple bock. Overall this is the best beer store that i have been in to on Long Island, i would recomend that everyone check this place out at least once and would be surprised if you didnt leave woth one of their many tasty treats!“

“Very easy to find and get to, located on the south side of Jericho Turnpike in Huntington. Very nice selection of micros and international beers packed into a relatively small space. All of the Fall seasonal brews are in a display near the register, which I thought was a great idea. They also offered singles on some of their beers, which is a big advantage when you are trying a beer and don’t want to buy a six-pack. Very, very helpful and friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit.“

“I have been going to Shoreline since the early 80’s when it was in Huntington Village and owned by an older gentleman whose pictures with Ali and Namath are still behind the counter as trophies of another era. “In term of beer selection, this store has probably the best selection in Nassau and Suffolk counties. I’ve been there several times and haven’t spent less than $75 yet. Too bad they are tucked way up on the north shore in Huntington. It takes forever to get up there, especially during lunchtime. Damned traffic. As I said already, really nice selection of beers. “Nice place to drop into if you’re in the area. I figured I’d check it out sonce I was on the island. Nice selection. Big line-up of Rogue, (had most of them). Had a good selection of other domestics like Southampton, DFH, Weyerbacher (it’s own rack). I also scored some SH Abbot 12 for only 11.99. Not bad. The prices are fair. This place is almost as good as American in Brooklyn. New Beer in Manhattan is still the best (in terms of selection and especially price).“

“You’re probably reading all these raves and thinking there’s no chance shoreline can live up to the hype. You’re wrong. This might have the most comprehensive selection I have ever seen. It’s a beer warehouse but the staff is knowledgable and friendly. I’m into American micros and dark English beer and they had plenty to choose from. “This really is the only proper resource for beer on Long Island. It wont challenge the top beer stores in NYC but it trys to keep pace. Prices vary from fair to a bit higher. Selection updates often which is great and there may be a few older gems hidden around. The taps are great, maybe the best part of the store. They get taps of stuff that no one in NYC may even score. At the moment they carry Great Divide products which I think no one else in NY has. Again prices may get high but usually fair, selection changes, and the taps are great. Service can suck and the owner feeds a lot of BS to you as well as misinformation. The problem is they have no competition.“

“This place is awesome. I went to Long Island for a wedding and wanted to bring back a bunch of east coast brews I can’t get out here. After researching here and on that other beer site it sounded like Shoreline was the place to go. And it was. A little tough to find, not much of a sign from the road, but once you are inside you are in heaven. A huge row of American craft beer, another of all imports, plus a cooler and a 5 tap growler fill station. I was immediately greeted by the owner (Stu?) and Jim the beer guy. I told them I was from CO and read about them on the internet and they treated me like a king. Made plenty of suggestions based on what I said I was looking for, what I liked, etc. I barely even looked at the import isle, but it was very impressive. Over on the micro side I picked up Wachusset, Blue Point, Victory, Southampton, Allagash, Hair of the Dog, Stoudt’s, Lakefront, Southern Tier, Smuttynose, and on and on. Totally unsoliscited, the owner hooked me up with a Duvel snifter, a Schneider Weiss weizen glass, and a Magic Hat hat. One of the best beer stores I’ve ever been to - the only reason I didn’t give it perfect scores is that they probably didn’t have something, although I don’t know what that would be. If I ever find myself in LI again I will be making another trip to Shoreline.“

“Pretty impressive selection. Unfortunate that some spots on the shelf were empty, but being that they had just been flooded the day before I feel lucky the doors were open at all. Floor was muddy looking and I didn’t put it together until I was told. Found some awesome beers - Belgian (Blaugies, Hansens, Cantillon, De Dolle, etc and domestic from regional Eastern to California) and had to let a few go as I already packed far too much back. Bought a growler which was a royal pain in the ass, but not because of them - my leeky cooler and keeping ice replenished. Wanna come over and try it?“

“Well, I live like 10 min. away so this place is my favorite place in the world. The owner had told me a while ago that they had the best selection in NY. I believe him too- they have jsut about anything you could ever want. Great selection of belgians germand and english ales, and the american micros take up and entire long ass isle. The best part is that this place as a growler filling station that almost always has 5 taps. Just bring in a growler or buy one there ($2) then fill it up and you are on your way. Most growlers are about $7-8 but some rare stuff could be as much at $15. Its all good though. I have also gotten a few glasses from them for free for spending a lot. ($70-100)“

“Most certainly the best beer store on Long Island. They tend to keep a fairly large stock of Southampton beers, which is always a plus. They have the best selection of belgians and English ales I’ve seen in the area. For the most part, they keep a steady flow of new beers (I go about twice a month and there are probably, on average, 4 or 5 new beers in stock each time), and they tend to get large quantities of holiday and season-specific ales in at just the right time of year (they just got the de dollle stille nacht in, which is a big plus for me). Their growler station doesn’t seem to rotate very quickly (sometimes the same beer will be on tap for over a month), but other than that I don’t have much to complain about. Friendly staff and great selection make this THE place to shop for beer on LI.“
