“Place is in a fairly big strip mall with plenty of parking right in front. Looks like a regular bottle shop, but definitely has some craft selections. Several guys working to help. The beers I had questions about they looked up in the computer. Nice quantity on the beer and some nicer one. Almost all beer are in cooler to preserve freshness (reducing the temperature is important in slowing the oxidation rate for most beer). Pricing was over all good. I picked up a few brews and would be interested in coming back.“

“This place is in the middle of nowhere. It is huge. Really big selection and all the latest things. The staff was super friendly. for most people this place is a bit out of the way but worth a visit.“

Revisit in 2013
This place has gotten even bigger. While some of the same gotchas remain the selection now dwarfs anything else. Drawbacks are no breaking six packs and some beers might be more "vintage" than expected. Otherwise though it is a must stop and with a new location opening in Mentor a growing part of the Cleveland beer scene.

Original review
Based on reviews I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. The beers are stored in two rows of coolers. One side is mostly imports (Belgians, French, etc). The other is all domestic - ranging from Stone, Weyerbacher, Full Sail and many locals. They are apparently expanding as well in the near future. I’ll be sure to stop by at that point to see how things change.
If you are making a run to Chuck’s this might be worth a stop as well. It’s only a fifteen minute drive away.“

“Part of the appeal is how unassuming this place is. From the outside to the inside there’s nothing that hints towards the treasures hidden in plane sight. The whole staff is extremely knowledgeable without a hint of snobbery (well I guess a bit, but in a fun way that includes you). The selection of cold micro-brews is the largest I’ve ever seen! And if I was a wine drinker I’d probably be just as impressed with their wine selection. “

“Big selection and some hard to find stuff. But if you really love beer you will have to go to House of 1000 Beers Pittsburgh, PA.“

“Awesome selection. Very nice help, gave us a tour. If they sold singles of beers from six-packs I would give them a 100.“

“Only here once, but it had some stuff that could not be found in any other stores. Helpful staff and prices were decent. I will go back when in the area.“

“I went there on a recommendation of a causual beer drinker (Miller lite type) But he said they had a good selection. NO doubt about that. What an awesome collection of brews from all over. I was mostly surprised to find some hard to find or limited production brews. The staff was very helpful in suggesting various possiblilities and types of beers. Not the sexiest of places and it is a bit out of the way. But it is worth the drive. Highly recommend Red Wine and Brew“

“What a massive selection! In addition to over 4,000 wines they also have over 1,500 beers. They claim to have everything everything that’s available in the state. I think that’s true for the most part except I didn’t see any Mikeller. Most everything they have is in the cooler which is an interesting touch. The owner of the store took me on a tour the minute I walked through the door which is a first. There’s only two big knocks. They don’t have any outside line creeping in but they do have more lighting in the coolers then I like to see. Plus they don’t let you make their own sixer, which given their selection is a damn shame.“

“This place is hilarious. If you go when the owner is there, watch out, he LOVES to chat with people. He’s really really friendly, but he will try to get you to buy the whole store. He’s extremely proud of it, and it shows. The new wine selection area is awesome if you drink it. The beer selection is great too, they have a lot of stuff in the coolers and some of it is harder to find. Whenever we are in Cleveland, we stop here. Definitely a decent place to check out if you are in the area. Oh, they also have a good selection of cigars.“

“Awesome selection, largest I’ve ever seen in this area. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. A little out of the way but well worth the trip. Maybe 20 minutes east of 271 on Mayfield Rd.“

“I’ve never seen anything like this place before. I found this place from this website so I figured I would give it a try even though it is quite a drive from where I live. Well worth the drive. When they say they have 2000+ beers they are not lying. Cooler, upon cooler, upon cooler of anything you could possibly want. They had some stuff that I haven’t seen anywhere else. On top of the amazing selection they are very friendly and helpful. As soon as I walked in someone was helping me find what I wanted. AMAZING!!!!! A must see for any beer lover, wine lover, or even cigar lover. Did I say amazing, I MEAN SUPER AMAZING!!!“

“In Short, now the best place to buy beer in northeast ohio. Extensive bottle selection that is ALL cold. Nice glassware selection as well.“

“Jeff, a local, suggested I check this place. Holy Crap! Located in a strip mall off the beaten path. Looks are deceiving here. Sign outside says they have over 4,000 bottles of wine and beer. More than half that has to be beer. No kidding. And its all in coolers that wrap up and down 4 separate aisles. And some coolers wrap around the back walls between a couple aisles of wine. When I first walked in the store a nice Indian man asked me if I had visited before. When I said no he insisted on taking me on a tour of his store. He also offered to open some beer to sample if I was interested. Everything was separated by foreign and domestic. 6 packs were together and 22 oz and 750 ml bottles were together as well. It was layed out nicely. Overall, biggest selection in the Cleveland area I’ve seen so far. Great selection at that. They also have a ton of wine and a humidor loaded with cigars. Only knock on this place is they don’t break up 6 packs and do singles. Owner said he didn’t have shelf space to do that. Where they lack in offering singles, they just offer a large selection. Biggest downside is these guys just don’t know beer at all. They are all sitting under lights and there is not enough turnover here to get fresh beer. They do have a large selection though.“

“I was doing a beer tasting at Geneva on the Lake for a family reunion and posted a distress call for a bottle shop nearby as the attendance was going to be double what I planned for. Someone wrote either Chuck’s or this place. This place was 53 minutes away and Chucks was an hour 14 minutes or something. Sorry Chucks. Anyhow, after getting lost in rural Ohio, I found it and was astonished. This place was a maze of alcohol. Walls of beer in the front that I thought ended but the owner showed me a path that led to 4 more walls all entwined with walls of wine. Found enough here to get me to 2000 ratings. Will go back every year I am in the area“

“I really wish this place was not on here. I started with Rozi’s then went on to Chuck’s. This is now my favorite place to go. They carry just about anything I can find in the area. The seem to miss some local things like some Hoppin Frog that I can pick up elsewhere, but they carry so much more compared to what they miss its ridiculous. Not to mention they have my favorite energy drink 30 cents cheaper than anywhere else. The prices are good, especially if you find an older bottle, say a Vertical ’08 that would be $15 to $20 at say Chuck’s but only $8.99 here.“

“I regularly patronize Discount Tobacco. Like most other people, I didn’t think much of the place based on the storefront appearance. Since I decided to walk through their doors, I’ll never go to Chuck’s again, unless I’m absolutely forced to. Their selection is way better, as are the prices. They have every beer I’ve wanted as well as the fact that if they don’t have it, they will the next time I come back. If you tell them to get it, they will order it and you can be sure it’ll be there waiting for you.“

“Went here with my brother on a recent trip to Cleveland. This place is really off the beaten track, well out of town in Chesterland on Route 322. Yo would not notice it jsut passing by, as it’s in a little strip of shops and is quite unassuming in appearance. Well, appearances are deceiving as the selection here is nothing short of astounding. It rivals anything I’ve seen in the Cleveland area, including Rozi’s, Chuck’s, Riverside and 101 Bottles in Kent. It seems like if it is available in Ohio, they’ve got it here. The owner is very helpful and friendly, but his actual knowledge of the beers is limited. Had every Alesmith that I’ve seen in Ohio, all of the standard American micros, all of the Ohio regional offerings, and a huge slection of Belgains. The beer shares space with wine and cigars, and although the shop isn’t exactly small, the sheer volume of the offerings necessitate cramped quarters. I bought a couple of cases of stuff, and he threw in a sample bottle of Flying Dog Wild Dog Barleywine. Prices were very competitive with other Cleveland area stores, and what I find in North Carolina. Chuck’s in Chagrin Falls usually has some a few hard to find things in the back cooler, so it may be just slightly better, but this place holds its own with any place I’ve been.“

“Driving back from obtaining some petrol, i stopped in on a weekday night, to find the store empty save for 2 clerks, both stayed behind the counter, which was fine, i browsed the large selection of Import Micro’s then meandered over to the american micro something im more familiar with, lots of stuff, but nothing standoutish, i bought some rare bottles @ Chuck’s none of those found here.. .. owner told me he would work his best to order things for me... nice diamond in the rough.“

“This is a hidden gem. The proprietors are very nice, and their selection is quite good. Pretty much every other major American micro brand available in NE Ohio is there. The real treasures are the odd beers that I have never seen anywhere else. Lion lager and imperial lager? They have it. Weird Spanish and French beers? Yup. Some great Belgians and a wide variety of Germans and Eastern European. Worth the 10 minute trip off of 271 and then some. UPDATE: Further expansions: It’s really getting impressive. Mini kegs of Schlenkerla and a bunch of other hard to find beers.“

“I must have passed this place a hundred times since it opened and just recently stopped in. What a shock! It looks like a low end booze and cigarettes store on the outside, but on the inside are hundreds of hard to find domestic and foreign (a lot of belgians) microbrews all refrigerated! They carry many things here that I have never seen before (including many interesting eastern European offerings). They also have an extensive assortment of fine wines and cigars. The owner is very helpful. Definitely one of the better spots for beer in NE Ohio. The downside is that many beers are only sold in 6 packs.“
