“Stopped in on a Friday night with the fam and got there early enough to dominate a table. Relatively small space inside, but assume it feels way bigger when they open up in warmer months. Hard to source DH in Columbus, so fun to have 15+ on tap mostly new to me. All really-good to excellent in range. Think we managed to sample everything. The staff were all super nice and it has a big local/community vibe. Top notch smash burgers at the food truck. Yeah, big fan.“

“Sitting in Dank House Brewing back yard there is a band sitting up and a taco stand. Inside the brewery they have a bar to order beers And tables to sit it. Souvenirs t-shirts for sale and six packs to go. Lighting inside is dimmed and I call it their back yard has plenty of people for a Friday evening. Seems parking could be prime. Only a few spots open to park in. Really Really like this place. Cheers!“

“Visited on a Friday afternoon shortly after they opened. The place is in what used to be a Damon's, a sports bar that has pretty much disappeared. Very large area with probably more room than they need right now, but hopefully they can fill the place when it is busy. On my visit I was one of about 5 people, but there seemed to be a regular influx of people coming in. They had several beers of their own on draft, plus a few guest taps that were interesting and local. Beer quality was good and service was friendly and helpful. I look forward to stopping in again sometime.“

“I stopped by on the official grand opening. This is a large stand alone building with lots of parking. There is a large bar with several TV screens and a large sitting area. There is space for a large patio area when the weather is nicer, and they even have a toddler corral if you bring the family. They had four of their own beers on tap with five guest taps and some wine options. If you go make sure to check out the bathroom sinks. The beers I had were unremarkable. They had no food but did have a food truck. This will be a nice local hangout and I'll be back to see how the brewing progresses.“

“Visited around 3:30 PM on a Saturday. There was a baby shower going on during the visit, but the place didn't seem to be closed to the public. It was very busy. I was able to quickly order a flight of 6, which was their full lineup. Due to the baby shower, I ended up sitting at a table that was sort of off on it's own. Wasn't sure if it was open since there was a person's coat and purse near it, but that person was nowhere to be found. The beers were all decent, and there was good variety amongst them. I would visit again, and hopefully on a less busy day. Not sure that my experience was the typical one.“

“Visited on a Saturday early afternoon. The building is off by itself close to residential area. Bigger block building with a gravel parking lot. Friendly service, as was mentioned in the review from jsquire, the brewer was behind the bar, I confirmed. They had four of their own beers on draft, and all were good. They are going to be focusing on hoppy offerings, and judging by the two I tried, they will do just fine with that. Their other two beers were good as well. I particularly enjoyed the coffee stout. Beer flights are available. They are working on getting a Crowler machine running, so I imagine that will be available soon. While it is in an out-of-the-way place, it is worth going. No food prepared on site, but food trucks are brought in for the later part of the day. They weren't there on my visit around 1 PM.“

“This is a little stand alone tap room south of town with its own parking. No food but they do have food trucks. Ten beers on tap, three of which were theirs. The guest taps are very nice beers, mostly from ohio. Servers were very attentive and i think the brewer was behind the bar as well. Another of the quickly increasing number of solid local places in Ohio that really are not beer destinations.“

The Beverage Source (Beer Store)
1551 WEST CHURCH ST.
“The Beverage Source is located on West Church right off 16. There is a parking lot in front of the building.

The left side houses the bottle shop, with beer located on shelves and in coolers primarily around the perimeter. The right side is a different room that serves as a small bar, with a couple tables and short bar with a cooler behind it. There is a chalk board in the bar listing the beers on tap.
< br> The bottle shop carries hundreds of brands, including many craft breweries from Ohio like Rockmill, Hoppin’ Frog, Jackie O’s, Great Lakes and Buckeye Lake. Many other domestic and imported craft breweries too. The bar has 6 taps and regularly does takeovers from breweries like Jackie O’s, Epic and Brew Kettle. Other breweries are featured like Sierra Nevada, Anchor and Unibroue.

Service both at the store and at the bar was good on my visit (and coincidentally was the same person covering both sides. The guy working was personable and made sure we were taken care of.

Overall this is a good stop in Newark for bottles or something worthwhile on tap.“

Red Oak Pub (Restaurant)
250 GOOSEPOND RD
“Red Oak Pub is located in front of the Walmart plaza on Goosepond Road off 21st. Parking is plentiful in front of the restaurant.

Inside the brick building, the decor is pretty typical of a sports bar/restaurant. Table and booth seating beyond the host stand, and the bar is in the rear. Wooden floors and dark red accents, and there are a couple bicycles suspended above the bar, and several TVs are placed all around it. There is a digital board behind the bar listing the beers.

Red Oak has around 20 beers on tap, including Ohio breweries like Homestead, Rockmill and Buckeye Lake. Other craft breweries like Bells, Rogue and Stone. Some bottled options as well.

Service for a Saturday lunch at the bar was good. The bartender was friendly and attentive.

Food at Red Oak is pretty good, I enjoyed my sandwich.

Overall this is a pretty good restaurant to visit in Newark with a few solid beer options.“

“They have BYO six packs, a decent selection of more commercial craft stuff, its worth stopping in to grab some beer if everything else is closed, like most grocery stores.“

Red Oak Pub (Restaurant)

“Red oak doesn’t typically have a great beer selection, they do carry craft in bottles and on tap, but its usually a basic selectio. The service is good and the food is pretty damn tasty, they have some delicious and unique burgers. Worth stopping in and checking out.“

“Stopped in early on a Saturday morning. Nice sized parking lot. Aside from the fellow behind the counter, I was the only person in the store. Bottles are in coolers along the left side wall and on shelves in the back, on some end caps, and a few other places. The selection is pretty nice. They have a lot of stuff I didn’t expect to find, but there were also some things I would expect that they didn’t have. I was able to get several bottles I had been after, so the trip was a success. I’ll be back, especially since I’m in the area with some regularity.“

The Beverage Source (Beer Store)

“Unlike the previous raters of this shop, I found the place quite easily. Easily accessible from 16, it’s just past the used car dealership on the left, for anyone interested. Service was excellent and very helpful, and I ended up having a good beer discussion during my visit. More local beers than any other store around, including those in Columbus. CBC, Elevator, Buckeye, GLBC, and Thirsty Dog were the in-state brewers I noticed during my visit. By far the best beer store in Newark. Will definitely go back, and would recommend anyone in the Newark/Columbus East/Zanesville area check this place out.“

“A great little find, and I use that word loosely. This place is a little hard to find. Its in a small industrial park sitting back a bit.Thats the only negative I have. The selection is wonderful, they had Mikeller weasel there.A nice Belgian selection.I had met the owner, Joel, super nice guy and very knowledgable about his business. If you are in Columbus this is a bit off the beaten path but worth going.“

“Cons: A little difficult to find. Google maps show it in a different location than it actually is. When you do find it, the signage is a little small for the business. I think they might be working on this. Pros: Pretty much every thing else! Spoke to one of the owners, Joel, for several minutes. Very friendly. Very knowledgable. This is smaller store than some of the ones around Columbus, but DEFINITELY a plus plus plus for the area. Pataskala, Granville, Newark and just a short hop from Brews Cafe. They sell both beer and wine, and even though the selection is smaller than some, he did have things I could not find up in my normal store. Nice selection of glassware too, if thats your thing!“

“I am one of the owners so I am a little biased. The selection of about 300 beers will increase to around 500 by the summer. We just opened a month ago and are building our inventory. But if you are looking for Belgians, American crafts, German, or English beers, this is a must visit.“
