“Located in a small strip of stores off of very busy Sunbury Road near State Route 161 in Westerville, Ohio. Adequte parking. Most of the beer is to the left of the store as you enter, in coolers, a beer cave, and on shelves, with ciders and some more beer on the other side of the store. Good but not outstading selection of local brews, some interesting stuff in the good but not large enough slngles selection, including a gose from a small brewery in Quebec that I had never seen before. Friendly clerk. Like The Root Cellar in Cincinnati but much smaller. If they could expand or move to a larger space, this would be a must stop. As is, it is worth stopping in in you're in the general area.“

“Easy dedicated parking right in front. Descent selection of singles and you can get the guy here to break things up. Nice selection of fresher stuff in cans. Beer is in the upper perimeter of the store. I found a couple beers of interest.“

“Saturday afternoon and a few people here at Galena Brewing Company. Tucked away in an industrial park. Parking is plentiful and they have a food truck here. Music playing here. Eight of their beers on tap and 5 guests beers. Souvenirs in glasses and t’s here. One bartender here and he was nice enough. Lighting is dimmed and have a patio on the back side on pavement. Overall the stop was good and the beer was even better. Cheers!“

“Stopped in at the Westerville, Ohio Winking Lizard for one.Quite Saturday afternoon. Place sits in a small strip mall. Music playing oldies. Plenty of parking here and the light are dimmed. One bartender and a huge list of beers both draft and bottle/cans. They have souvenirs in t- shirts. Lizardville is next door which is their whiskey bar. Little pricey here but the beer list is quite interesting. Food is good here.Service was good. Over a nice expensive. Cheers!“

“Old time English feel here at Temperance Row Brewing Company in Westerville, Ohio. Dimed light with soft rock playing. Talk to the brewer. Who has nice resume in Columbus breweries. Long bar seat maybe 15 people. Three tables also. Inside a deli parked on the road. Food here. Service good. Shirts for sale. Growlers for sale. Nice place 10 beers on tap. Cheers!“

“Stopped in on a Sunday early afternoon after visiting the homebrew shop. Street parking is available, and I did not have much trouble finding a spot. The front of the store is a small deli, and the storefront actually has the name Uptown deli and Brew, which doesn’t come right out and say Temperance Row anywhere that I saw. Regardless, I found the place anyway, and whether or not I was looking for it is a bit beside the point. Once you walk past the deli portion, you will find the bar area with several table tops and booths with a long bar along the back right side. Behind the bar you can see the brewing setup behind glass, which is kind of cool. There is also a back patio past the bar. It was pretty cold the day I visited, so I did not go out there. On my visit, they had 5 of their own beers on tap, a couple guest taps, and 3 nitro taps. the nitros were all things that were also on a regular tap, like their IPA, Stout, and one other I don’t recall. Maybe the Scottish. I ordered a flight ($10) with five of their beers. The beers ranged from average to good. The IPA and Pils were my favorites of the flight. At the end, the bartender asked what my favorite was. I told him it was the IPA and he gave me a small taste of the Nitro IPA for comparison. Pretty cool gesture, and much appreciated. Pricing was fair, the tap selection was a bit small, but they have room for growth, and their guest bottle beer/mead/wine list was decent. I would visit again if I find myself in Westerville.“

Buckeye BrewCraft (Homebrew Shop)
33 N. STATE STREET
“Stopped in here on a Sunday in the early afternoon. There is street parking up and down N. State Street, but it did all seem to be about taken when I arrived. Maybe there is a parking lot close by that you could park at? Once inside, the cash register is in the middle of the store, there are primarily hardware supplies on the left, and grains, hops, and some dry yeast on the right side. They have a walk in freezer for the liquid yeast in the back right. I was mostly just looking for some lactobacillus for a Berliner Weiss brew, but ended up leaving with three different yeasts. There were 2 to 3 guys working the day I was there, so there was plenty of coverage for service. I had a couple questions and they were answered well. I would recommend stopping in here, and I plan to do so again in the future. Of note, Temperance Row Brewing is just a couple doors down from this place, so you could easily hit them both up in the same trip.“

“(Visited 01/2015): Temperance Row is a relatively new brewpub located on State Street in downtown Westerville. Street parking is available in the surrounding blocks, and there is a public lot nearby.

The interior opens to a small deli counter, and beyond that is the brewpub. The bar area features a few tables at the entryway and then a bar along the right side with a couple more tables around it. There is also a patio in the rear. The walls are adorned with a cool logo framed by incandescent bulbs, mug shots from the early 1900’s, and a piece of art made out of Papier-mâché hops. The brewery is visible behind the bar.

Temperance Row has 6 beers on tap, and a flight is available. On my visit the list included Scofflaw Scottish, IPA, Porter, Pale Ale, Pils, and a Christmas Ale. The beers were all decent.

Service at the bar on a Saturday afternoon was good. The bartender was relatively knowledgeable about the beers and was attentive throughout the visit.

I did not have any food on my visit.

Overall Temperance Row is an overdue and welcome addition to Westerville and I will visit again as they continue to find their footing.“

“There is a smallish retail deli counter at the front of this building, but the bulk of it is one long bar with a few tables. Modern room with some neat style touches and the required bank of TV’s above the bar . The brewing equipment is behind glass behind the bar which adds an interesting view. They do have outdoor seating which may be nice in the summer but was just a very cold smokers lounge in January. I had a very nice Reuben and my friend enjoyed the turkey sub. The beers of theirs that I had were interesting, and they had lots of nice craft bottles and cans in the cooler if you wanted to try something else. I’ll be interested to see how this place does once it has been open for a while.“

“Semi-cramped English pub setting with wooden floors, tables and booths. Usually very crowded between 5:30 and 7:00. Decent beer selection. There are often about a dozen or more microbrews to choose from and at least several exceptional beers. Food is very good, especially the fish and chips which are the best in town. Service is always friendly and attentive. Nice place, just a little cramped.“

“Moved to Westerville a few months ago and thus far, this has been our favorite place. They have a good 5 rotating tap selection, in addition to standard local and traditional meh taps. Just in and had Hopslam, Palate Wrecker, Dark Horse. The food really good and the Mgt. staff are sharp.“

Yabo’s Tacos (Restaurant)
7097 STATE ROUTE 3
“(Visited 05/2012 and several times since): Yabo’s Tacos is a quick service burrito/taco spot in Westerville on Rte 3 right off Polaris. The plaza has a relatively small lot and it can be tough to find parking during busy times.

The interior opens to a walk-up order counter with table seating on the left. The bar is located on the right side past the kitchen, and there is a patio as well. The bar features a board listing what they currently have on tap and in bottles.

As for the beer selection, Yabo’s has 10 beers on tap, and aside from a couple macros they feature brands like Great Lakes, Columbus Brewing, Stone, Dogfish Head and Fat Head’s. They also have around 12 bottled beers from the likes of Lagunitas, Bells, DFH, Green Flash and Stone.

Service at Yabo’s both in food service and at the bar is consistently good.

I am a big fan of Yabo’s food, especially the "big sloppy yabo" burrito which is excellent. They have a bunch of their own sauces too.

All in all this is a great spot on the north side of Westerville to get some great food and beer at the same time.“

“The "all you can eat" Fish and Chips is amazing. The two pieces of cod are big enought to feed two. Taps are okay but the 5 rotating taps are good.“

“This is my favorite Old Bag location. Solid bottle selection, and good drafts with an occasional surprisingly great one every once in awhile. Two words: fried pickles.“

“(Visited 08/2006): Having an Old Bag of Nails open up in downtown Westerville is a coup for beer drinkers. Westerville, formerly home of the Anti-Saloon League, had been dry for over 100 years and was known as dry capital of the world. Parking is pretty tough no matter what time you visit. There is street parking all around and a couple small lots but they fill up fast. The interior is similar to other locations. The left side is restaurant seating, while the right is the bar. There is breweriana all around, as well as an eclectic selection of knicknacks. The bar is all along the right side and has a nice view of the street. The beer selection is good. There are around 10 taps with goodies like Hoster Gold Top and a Leinenkugel beer renamed to Old Bag of Ale. As for bottles, there is a good representation of domestic and imported. Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada, Young’s, Sam Smiths etc. Service is good as usual. Old Bag hires people that know beer. The food is excellent. I had the Patty Melt and it was great, andthe fish and chips is world class as it is at every other location. As mentioned before, Westerville is better for having this place open now. Beer drinkers in the area rejoice!“
