90 /100 Guntown Beer (Beer Store) 585 W PIKE ST New addition: They now have mixed six packs for $4.50! How cool is that? I easily found 3 sixers of beer I never tasted before. Old rating: I’m not sure why there aren’t more ratings for this place, it is a diamond in the rough. A little difficult to see off the roadside because its back in a bit. Looks like a typical small steeltown bar from the outside. When you walk in you are confronted with many coolers full of singles. The prices are great for the Pittsburgh area and I easily found many beers I had yet to taste, even after 3500! Was totally surprised by the amount of beers they had. The girl was really friendly too! They have a small bar in the back but the cool thing about this place was the make your own sixpack area. Since my hometown place, the beer store in moon, closed up I haven’t seen another cheap beer place like it. This is so much like the old beer store, I wish I lived closer, would be here all the time. I was impressed, walked out with two mixed six packs. |
80 /100 McGrogan’s Tap Room (Bar) 45-47 EAST PIKE STREET In a strip mall off the main drag of Cannonsburg. Easy to find. 25 cent meter parking in the lot. My experience was much better than expected, they had lots of craft beer on tap, about 20 taps, and I was told it always rotates. Even after rating 6K beers, I easily found 6 I never tasted before, some I never heard of! A few big TVs, something like a sports bar, but not really. Girl was very helpful and prices were decent as well. Good time here, yes, much better than expected. Although I didn't do a flight, I think they have them and the girl let me taste any beer I wanted, free 3 oz samples. They also have the macros on tap cheap for your none craft friends, if you have any of those. |
68 /100 Mad Mex Lakeside (Restaurant) 200 LAKESIDE DRIVE NORTH Two parking lots in front and on the left. Service was good. Pretty good selection. Food is good. Cool atmosphere next to a lake. Pricing is reasonable. I would go back. |
64 /100 Guntown Beer (Beer Store) 585 W PIKE ST Dedicated free parking lot. This is a two-in-one place bottle shop and bar. The bottle chop is on the left and the bar is on the right. The bottle shop is plain and the bar side is nicer. The selection in bottle shop had lots of singles for reasonable prices (especially since this is in PA). I found a nice gem here. Service was lacking (the girl was talking to some guy almost the whole time). I would go back, but would not go too far out of the way. |
72 /100 Guntown Beer (Beer Store) 585 W PIKE ST This is a great place. It’s a sixpack shop with a bar in the back. Lots of beer here, maybe 200 or so. Mostly East Coast stuff, some Bells. A few taps. The crowd are mostly local boozers and the ambiance is akin to a shed but I liked this place. The 2 dollar charge to drink a beer out of the fridge is absurd. Otherwise, a fun place. Great selection for the area. |
