62 /100 AJ’s Club Soda (Restaurant) 1017 MAIN ST Dropped in here just for the place tick. Yes...I’m a degenerate. From the outside it looks like a typical dive bar, but inside is actually pretty cozy. They have a nice spacious bar and a decent sized seating area. Very much an old school tavern kind of vibe. It also seems like a place catering mostly to the locals. I felt a little out of place since most of the folks there seemed like they knew each other, but no one made me feel unwelcome. In fact, the bartender was very friendly and quite the character. NEPA is a funny place.... Anyway, the beer list wasn’t anything to write home about, but there was a few decent beers and a couple locals on tap. I didn’t eat, but the food honestly looked really good. I was a little sad I had already eaten. Overall, this would be a decent option for beer if you were stuck in this area, but by today’s standards, it’s not really a worthy craft beer place. |
82 /100 AJ’s Club Soda (Restaurant) 1017 MAIN ST Great neighborhood bar/restaurant. Impressive selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles; focus on Pennsylvania brewers (Weyerbacher, Victory, Troeg’s, Nimble Hill, etc). Food is surprisingly good, though you do pay a premium price for it. This is a go-to place for the area. |
