“Good beers, some different styles. I was ecstatic to find a Belgian Dubbel, was true to style. Would have loved to stay and explore more.“

“A chain, but they had lots of good taps. Usually if I see a place has 50 taps, I assume about 2 are less common, non-pale-lager. This had many locals, and a few different styles beyond lager and IPA. We have 5 drinking here, all enjoyed the food and beer. Hectic and loud, but we liked it.“

“Great looking old timey place in the heart of the historic district. Great list of Craft Beers! Stopped in twice while in town. During the week mid afternoon not very crowed just the way I like it so I can sit at bar enjoying great Beers and talk to the bartender. We had a great time.“

“Wife and I stopped in a few days ago while in SD. I got the wrist band and tried a few partial glasses. I've had most of these already. A 3rd floor there with more taps!!! They did not mention that, even after I told them I've had moist of these! It's a nice clean place. Relaxing.“

“We stopped in last Friday afternoon while in Rapid City picking up supplies for Erica's wedding. Only a few people in there so I got fast service. Patty wanted food and was leaving. I got 5 oz of the NEIPA. It was only slightly hazy and not juicy . Taste like regular IPA.“

“We stopped in to buy some beers for Erica's wedding. Got some good 4 packs. My son found some good ciders. They have a small amount of craft beer singles, but the 4 Drekker Sours I got there were very good. Wife got some good wine there.“

“Stopped in while staying nearby for Erica's wedding. Nice clean place. Good knowledgeable staff. They had a decent selection of beers but I was disappointed that the only Hazy they had was a session!! I had heard they had a good NEIPA. I just had one beer and left.“

“Busy place pretty nice decor, firefighter themed. Great food, beer was a bit of a time capsule. Had some English styled stuff. It grew in me. Nice area of town.“

“Finally - I get to drink South Dakota craft beer! Interior has a cozy feel without being cramped. Servers know how to please you, helpful and efficient, not overly friendly. Everything they have, or at least what I tried, is first-rate. This is supposed to be the best microbrewery in South Dakota, and it is definitely worthy of a visit.“

“Decent sized modern space with a lot of umbrellas. Small L-shaped bar with a view into the brewery and some restaurant tables. Small patio with picnic tables overlooking the parking lot. Beers are pretty good and come in flights of four. Good service. No food. A top place in town.“

“Large modern taproom in what looks like a former light industrial building. Long bar on one side and lots of restaurant tables plus some patio tables overlooking the lovely parking lot; two big overhead doors in between the two. Beers were tasty enough, not overly exciting. Weekend food trucks. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Worth a stop after Lost Cabin.“

“Stopped in during a short vacation. Arrived at lunch time and they were quite busy. Housed in an old fire station in downtown Rapid City. Only had time (and was driving) for their Bell Tower Lager which was very mild. About eight beers on tap. One was experimental. Food was well above average and the service was great. Nice location.“

“First brewery Jess and I visited during our trip to SD in 2021, but ultimately wouldn't be our favorite. Beers were solid, the vibe was relaxed and it had a nice outside patio space. Easy walk to Lost Cabin too.“

“In the end, Zymurcracy and Lost Cabin were the top two breweries Jess and I visited during our SD trip in 2021. This is one much more out of the way, but its worth a trip, since all of the beers were better than solid. Nice service too.“

“Visisted with Jess during our SD trip in 2021. A nice, smallish liquor store with a small (but solid) selection of beers. Some real surprises too, so worth a visit.“

“A very large brewery in downtown Rapid City. Housed, of course, in an old firehouse. Food is better than solid bar staples. Beers are okay, pretty standard selection. Nice, large outside space. Live music. Visited the brewery with Jess during our SD trip in 2021.“

“Very large brewery, though perhaps because of its downtown location, no real outside seating. Good selection of their own beers. Easy access to other RC amenities. Visited with Jess during our Rapid City stay in 2021.“

“I stopped by this tap room on a fine fall evening and sample 8 beers. All were quite good. I would have had more but ended up in conversation with one of the brewers and time slipped away. After shutting the place down at 8 PM! I ventured over to the nearby Lost Cabin which was open until 9. I much preferred my visit to Dakota Point.“

“I hit this place just before closing (9 PM) and only had time for one flight. The beers were all solid, but the staff was eager to close up. Overall the atmosphere was good. I would like to return when there is more time to explore the many beers on tap.“

“Smiths is probably the best beer store in Rapid City and one of the few that offers a good selection of singles. If you are buying singles, check the brewing date or best by date. I saw some pretty old examples of beers that don’t age well.“

“Huge modern, three story place. Self service. Staff were extremely forgiving, since we were there ticking beers long after all other customers had left. Lots of SD / ND / WY / MT ticks available. There are more taps on the third floor, so make sure to explore. Detroit style pizza was really good too.“

“Large bar / restaurant vibe. Pretty slow table service, but perfectly friendly. Small pours and flights available. Beer quality ranged from very bad to passable. Food was better. The crowler I bought wasn't sealed properly, so leaked everywhere. Probably my least favorite of the SD places we visited.“

“Something new for me: a RFID technology bar. You get a bracelet when you come in. Then all the taps are self-serve with glassware under the taps - you tap the bracelet on a spot over the tap and then pour your own beer . Beers are charged by the ounce so you can pour as little or as much as you want. It's a tickers paradise! Great selection of local and regional beers. Also have ciders and wine by the ounce. I cannot rave enough about this place. Such a great concept - allows you to tick or just have a beer exactly the size you want. And given this is a very popular tourist area, it should be a big hit for visitors - large selection of South/North Dakota, Wyoming, and Iowa (specifically Toppling Goliath) beers. They have food - you order using the QR code on the table and bring it to you (I didn't eat so can't comment on that). An absolutely must visit if in the area.“

“Sharp place with very nice staff and a good selection of food. They were open post covid, For dinner. Enjoyed my time here, beer was inoffensive. Had a flight of all 9, none were bad. None were really good either. A safe bet if that’s what you need.“

“Visited on 8th November 2019. Large bar in downtown Rapid City. Place was busy when we arrived but managed to find a perch. Nice beer related decor. Huge array of draft beers from across SD plus more exotic stuff from US. Good range of cans and bottles. No small pours but staff happy to provide a taster. Prices were decent enough. Liked this place.“

“Visited on 8th November 2019. Large downtown place. Has wine room, merch shop and then open area with huge fire pits and the bar restaurant. Sat outside here and was cosy and warm. Beer available in flight of 5 but is set at Bartenders choice or all 8. Went for 5 but got 8 anyway!. Beer quality was average at best. Nothing really stood out. The food was much better and definitely worth a visit for. Nice place and staff were friendly and apologetic for giving me all 8 beers!“

“Visited on 8th November 2019. Diverted here on way into town as a good way from centre. Nice looking sizeable bottle shop. Mix of spirits, wine and beer. Solid range of stuff. Staff helpful. A few singles in the fridge plus some interesting bombers. Picked up a Surly BA Impy. Worth a look in as prices seemed pretty reasonable. 330ml cans at $2.“

“Large place downtown right around the corner from Independent Ale House. A few chairs and tables on the sidewalk, large interior with a beautiful curved bar. Brewhouse visible at the end of the bar, no glass to hide it. Eight or so beers on offer, in flights of four if you like. Beers were tasty. Service was top notch. No food. They also sponsor live music events. Solid stop.“

“This seems to be THE beery place in Rapid City. In the middle of downtown, not sure about parking and there's no Uber here, but it was walking distance from my hotel (pure coincidence). Generic downtown business appearance, large long bar on the left and a bunch of restaurant tables. Downstairs is cozier, and there's a second bar there. Taplists on TV screens in multiple places. Barman John was very helpful, knowledgeable and generous with the samples, even without asking. Taplist is large and varied with a handful of local beers and stuff from neighboring states. Pours were 12 or 16 ounces. Flights would have been great, but having samples available was the next best thing. Guy next to me had about 8 samples before settling on one. Pizza was flatbread style and looked very tasty but I had already eaten. Great place.“

“Just on the edge of downtown. Huge parking lot, full when I stopped by. Inside was full too on an early Wednesday evening, a good sign. Front is wide open in good weather through an overhead door. Long bar, a dozen taps, no guests. Long communal picnic table, a nice touch, plus some bar tables. Brewhouse visible at the end of the bar. Food truck pretty much every night. Beers are very solid, available in full pours or flights of four for eight bucks. Huge variety of styles, each one done very well. Crowlers too, $8-10. Very friendly staff, dog and child friendly place as well. Top spot of the trip so far.“

“This seems to be the best beer store in town. They make an attempt to get anything available to them. You’ll find some cool stuff from the bigger guys like Odell, Avery, etc. You’ll find some regional stuff from the Dakotas, Wyoming, and the like. Surly distributes here and they had cases of Darkness just sitting around. That’s kind of a weird sight. Prices are fair. I do advise to be cautious of old beer on the shelf. I saw lots of date stamps from several months or even two years ago.“

“Murphy’s is a classy, expansive pub. It has a pretty standard but pleasant ambiance. The beer selection didn’t blow me away but it turned out to be one of the better spots to get quality, regional/local tap beer. Lost Cabin, Empyrean, Hydra and others were on tap. Throw in the delicious food and this becomes a very worthy stop. They’ve got buffalo, elk, and the like on the food menu which brings the whole Dakota vibe together. The buffalo meatloaf is nothing short of excellent. Dinner can get spendy, but it’s not outrageous and certainly worth it. Beer prices are quite affordable, however.“
