“Walked here after initially parking farther away. Wanted to try this little cider place, but it was closed of course. Found a decent fried fish spot, so it wasn't all bad. Huge, huge place. Looks like an old airplane hanger painted to look like a barn. Corridor-ish walkway past office space on your right, open air brewing equipment on the left, birds nest seating on a second floor. It's atrociously hot in Texas, close to 110, there's still people sitting up there. Railing eventually opens up to a big space with picnic tables, plus an ordering counter, behind glass, very sterile-looking. Tv screen with small print, event signs up top, but no other beer signage. There are glass doors into that space though, a few rounds & merch. Better yet, it's air-conditioned! Never any seating in there obviously. There's also a huge outdoor space with an old carousel cover, more picnic tables, food truck space & some bean bag white people games laying around. They also make their own tacos & such. Didn't have food, but the blood orange wit was honestly tasty & better than expected. Had this plus the apple saison & was really curious for more, but it was so sweaty, I couldn't bear it, so I left. They need to call up Big Ass Fans & get some airflow. I counted 16 taps before I bugged out, with half of those being IPA/Stout. One sour, one saison, one seltzer. Fun, but not insane adjuncts. $6 full pints seems to be what I recall, but I didn't keep track. Service was fine, but there was really no one around outside of the air-conditioned space. Very dog friendly. Cans or growlers to go. Would want to come back when the earth isn't on fire.“

“Visited late afternoon on a Monday. Strip mall location. Beer is the main story here, with new releases and sought after breweries directly in front center of the shop. There are also racks of warm beer to the right, and a walk in cooler on the side of the shop. Quite a few of the local brewery beers are available as singles. Large selection of Jester King and very friendly and knowledgeable employees. Best beer oriented store I have been to in Dallas (so far).

82 = ★★★½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“My friend Ryan recommended this store, which was 50 min from where I was staying, it didn’t dissapoint. Sam and the crew know their beer. They asked me what I liked and where I was from, even printed out a list of breweries with styles I liked. In all my years I have never met a complete staff of folks that knew so much along with cared about my experience there. If it’s in Texas, they should have it for you. I highly recommend stopping here.“

“Seems to be some conflicting reviews of Frisco and Plano beer stores and changes in focus. I asked a beer rep I met at Holy Grail and she said Lone Star. I was not disappointed. Friendly staff. A good selection of Texas micros and very good beers from outside Texas.“

“Pretty good selection of craft beers here. Most limited stuff has a 1 bottle limit and you have to wait in line for it. Usually their prices are $1-3 higher than other places for the same bottles or six-packs, so not a great value place.“

“One of the best craft beer stores in town! Especially Denton County. Very knowledgeable about their products, and if they don’t have it Rick will do what he can to try to get it. I’ve been shopping here for a few years now and every time its been nothing but a great experience.“

“As far as beer stores in Dallas area are concerned, Lonestar is in the top tier. There is no finer customer service and rarely a better selection at any area stores. Rick is a consummate professional and does a great job valuing his customers. Recent reorganization has made room for more bottles and presented even better organization. If you find anywhere in Dallas that’s better to buy beer, please tell me!“

“A great selection for it’s location. The building isn’t much to speak of, but they have a great American craft selection in the walk-in fridge. They also have a decent European selection and a knowledgeable staff. Sometimes they keep a few special bottles behind the counter, such as the Stone Green Tea IPA and the Sam Adams Infinium. The owner told me he’s planning to open a store on 7th street in Ft. Worth, which would be welcome since there’s only two or three places there with a decent selection there.“

“Customer Service starts right when you open the door and long after you have left the shop! Rick runs a top-notch service at LSB and if you can’t find it, don’t leave without asking!! Most likely it’s on the shelf and you didn’t see it or he can get ordered up right quick-like! Be sure to check out the Beer Cave and the craft brew aisle!!“

“One my long time friends brought me here when I was in town for a visit. Looks like a crappy beer/cigarette store from the outside. Don’ t let that fool you, they have a small but quality beer selection, and it’s all stored in a dim walk in cooler. This is the store to buy hoppy beers because of the proper handing and storage. They carry all the regional micros, plus stuff from Stone, Lagunitas, Deschutes, DFH, etc. They had stuff that Mr G’s did not have or was sold out of. Friendly service to boot.“

“This store is pretty awesome, and given its proximity to other terrible beer stores, it’s certainly the best in a 5 mile radius. Rick has worked on the dominating presence of Bud, Miller, and Coors displays which is great, and his selection of craft beers rivals that of any in DFW. Despite all that, his service is the best in the metroplex. If I need something he is my go to store, and his communication is about as good as it gets. The walk in beer cooler is really cool, nice selection of singles, although I do wish I could break any/all 4/6 packs. The inventory challenges though could become too expensive to manage. Despite all this, Rick has a pretty damn good selection. Not the largest, but he does focus on the good stuff. A great store in DFW that I have no complaints about.“

“Rick and the rest of the staff at Lone Star Beverage are very helpful. This store has a nice selection of beer and wine, with a walk-in cooler for the craft beer. I don’t get over to this store too often but if you are in this part of the Metroplex, Lone Star Beverage is a good place to shop.“

“Came in on a Sunday. Plenty of parking on the way in. Rick was taking the day off (good for him), but sadly did not get to meet him. Large store with what appears to be room for more product in the back (behind the huge Clydesdale). Every beer is in a cooler (apart from a few magnums) which is nice. Decently large selection, and seems to be quite up to date with all the new selections in town. I counted 2 meads, 0 non-macro ciders (woodchuck and other crappy stuff), and about 6 sakes (although there was one that I had never seen before). Beers were solid. Fair prices. Seems like a good place, but a bit out of the way for me. That said, I will be back.“

“Can’t believe I haven’t rated this. This is my first choice to shop even though it’s a bit out of the way for me. Easily has the coldest cold box in DFW and Rick, who is a solid guy, always goes way out of his way to get the newest stuff. Ratebeer discount is a good bonus too even if it has recently been decreased.“

“First time I’ve been there. Its no lie...Rick is great. I was in a hurry today and just kind of blew by him but stopped long enough to exchange business cards for future beers. In the short period I was there he managed to dig up some Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout and Stone Russian Imperial Stout in the 22 oz bottles. I’ve had the Yeti before but not the oak aged or the stone russian. I know what I’ll be doing tonite.....“

“This store is definitely developed to cater to both typical macro drinkers and educated crafters. We drove up for the Saint Arnold’s tasting and was greeted at the door by a Miller girl. She was hot, I’ll give her that. The local SA representative was there, gave us 3 samples and lots of conversation. Met Rick and he directed us to his walk in cooler. Nice selection of craft 6-ers and an even better selection of large singles. Several things were on sale here that I had never seen before. Rick was super friendly and enjoyed talking about what he does. We ended up picking up a few large bottles and after some inquiries about some hard to find beer, Rick pulled out a bottle from the back that he didn’t advertise. MUCH thanks goes to him for that! UPDATE: Rick has gone out of his way several times to get information and new beer out to the RB clients. I appreciate the service.“

He carries beer that no other North Texas Store does. i will go back for sure. they had some glassware on sale as well.“

“I stopped by here after getting off early from work. Selection is pretty good for the area. It does not have as much to choose from as Mr. Gs or CM but there is a good selection of high quality beer. I talked to Rick the owner and he showed me the new arrivals and had a good chat about beer. He also said if there is something I want to let him know and he would get it if he could. Definetly a place I would go back to.“

“As the third person to rate this pace, let me start by saying the other 2 raters are both very wrong. Madscot-this is not the best beer selection in North Dallas, not by a damn sight. S&K and Mr. G’s blow them completely out of the water. hiulijin-for North Texas, this is not an average drink store. The average drink store around here carries all macros plus maybe Harp or Bass and that’s all. This place DOES stock some good craft brew. It doesn’t stock all the craft beer available in the area, but it has a very nice selection, especially for Carrollton, a burg devoid of any good beer stores. The staff is ultra friendly and helpful. They are willing to get stuff if you ask them. Every time I have went in and a particular beer wasn’t there, I have asked for it and it shows up in a few days. The store is very well lit, clean, and organized. It has the feel of an upscale bodega. I like it and I will continue to shop there, but when I want to know what new stuff is available, I will go to S&K.“
