80 /100 122 W MAIN ST #101B After visiting the garage location 2 years ago, I was pleased to return to town while passing through and discovering their new location. Only a few blocks away, but a far less residential spot. Nice and spacious taproom that offers limited food options, and also serves as a coffee shop. Wine as well, so there is a little bit of everything here. Tried some classic brews that I remember trying back in the garage, served by the same friendly folks, the owners. All the staff seemed to be family, and they treated the customers as if they were as well. In addition to the classics, I had a few others that were new, and really showed off the progress of the brewery. A lot of variety to the taplist (and entire menu though I stuck to the beer). Very enjoyable visit. Will definitely be back when I'm back in the area. |
52 /100 122 W MAIN ST #101B Nanobrewery in a garage. Remember Wet Head? Same folks, same place, just changed their name. Dude completely rebuilt the bar, too, so now there’s more seating and it feels more like a little taproom. The beer game keeps coming up here, showing steady progress making nice clean IPAs and porters and stouts. There are some fruit beers and pepper beers, which we didn’t try, could be alright. Even makes his own root beer! Dude and his wife are really friendly and funny and easy to talk to. It’s a hangout in a spot where you might not expect it. |
60 /100 The Rock Wood Fired Pizza and Spirits, Auburn (Restaurant) 1408 LAKE TAPPS BLVD. This place is here to serve pizza. They have a few beers contract brewed for them by Fish, but the recipes are fairly well uninspired (same as all Rocks). The pizza’s pretty good, though. This isn’t close to much or on the way to anything, but I can vouch that it’s up to snuff with the other Rocks because we have friends who live around the hill from here and we’ve eaten here a few times. Better than Applebee’s by a wide margin I guess. |
