“Northbend location. Dropped by on a road trip from Seatttle to Yakima. Nice Safeway like grocery store. Beer selection like Safeway. Lots of macros, and large microbreweries. Very few singles and only in 20oz. 2.9“

“Swung by for a late lunch on a weekday. Good food, beer list was solid--nothing worth going out of one's way for but a perfectly cromulent beer list showcasing some good PNW stuff if one winds up here.“

“Swung by on a Wednesday afternoon. As a previous reviewer noted, this place is basically a neighborhood brewery in size and scope. Pizza smelled very good but didn't have any. Space is basically a big box well-furnished. Beer was better than I expected. Really nice use of malts, from the porter to the black IPA to the alt. Even their radler was above par. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area (although don't know why you would be).“

“Probably the best place for a beer in the Lincoln Square complex and connected buildings. That's kind of damning with faint praise - perfectly fine, not worth going out of your way for, but if you're waiting for your Din Tai Fung and want a bit more selection, this is the place.“

“A few Japanese craft beers I at least haven't seen elsewhere. Nothing that looked too good / rare, but worthwhile if you want to see some random stuff from Japan. Place is more of an ethnic grocery than something that belongs on the site, although as far as ethnic groceries go, their beer selection is good.“

“Always great beers on tap, pretty good rotation of ciders lately as well. Large projection screen usually playing football or baseball, great place to catch a game. Busy happy hour with the local after work crowd, but never too crowded. Hearty food, good beer, great service - nice to have a brewery to hang out at in this part of town.“

“Pretty standard looking Total Wine. Guy working there was fairly friendly on my visit and helped me make a few selections. Was only looking for singles to drink while in town for a couple days, and I successfully got some singles for just that purpose. If you want anything cold, they have some cooling tanks by the register and you can drop a couple in there while you shop and they will at least be cool by the time you walk out.“

“Visited Feb '18. Came in here for a bite after work as it was only about a 15 minute cab ride from my hotel, and I was pleasantly surprised. Ended up being a good spot. Beers were good, food was solid. Nice people drinking at the bar. Lots of after work crowd folks here in groups. Friendly service. Bar trivia was being played. Lots of fun. I will be back next time I'm in town.“

“Decent place to grab a couple pints in the toney suburb. Second floor attached to what appears to be an extended shopping mall. Typical suburban restaurant atmosphere. The look could pass for a Cheesecake Factory or whatever, but it’s simple and comfortable. Nice service and a more than average range of mostly U.S. craft. Locals and regionals well represented, including several nice one-offs. Certainly would go back on a subsequent visit to this town.“

“It’s probably a little rude of me to say, since it might evoke old Seattle attitudes toward the burbs, but I hadn’t realized that there were strip malls and whatnot tucked up in the hills over here in Bellevue that had been here this long. That’s not a knock on the building at all—it feels truly brand-new inside. But you’re driving a ways to get to Factoria, and then you’re climbing some winding hilly roads to find the address, and then…well, there are hardly any streetlights, so it almost feels like a vacant lot for a second, but there it is. There’s plenty of parking, and the place is absolutely packed. What this is, even after just a few months in operation, is the family watering hole of choice for an entire neighborhood. Packs of kids in matching rained-on game-day sports uniforms, moms and dads in team hoodies, teammates across the room, neighbors over there, relatives over here. Everybody knows everybody, everybody’s glad to see everybody, the hustle and bustle lets everybody hang out and have their own space amid the crashing waves of crowd around them. It’s a really nice feel, because everybody seems really happy—it smells great as soon as you walk in, especially when it’s busy and lots of pizzas are cooking. You know the beer is fresh; you can see the brew tanks right through the window right when you walk in. Mood enhancers are in full effect. The staff are super nice right from the start—they put out a music stand full of menus and beer lists by the door, so you can pause to place your order at the counter. Music stand. Everything here feels like they support their local educational institutions, including that music stand, which feels like they musta got it for a couple bucks at the junior high fund raiser garage sale. Seriously, the implicit signals of community here are everywhere. Anyway, pick a pizza and a couple beers, and place your order. Turn around and pick a picnic table in the dining room. No idea what this place was before it became a pizzeria/brewery, but it could’ve been a lot of things, because it’s huge, and they clearly renovated it to make it what it is now. They framed in the brewhouse, the bar, the back hall/bathrooms, and a good-sized kitchen, all with just the right amount of space, and left room for a huge row of stools and several rows of picnic tables. There’s lots of free space between things, because, presumably, they knew their all-ages dining room would be packed with energetic kids. They were pouring three house beers—an APA, a wheat IPA, and a gose. These are cool choices for approachable, sessionable styles that they can use to build flagships for their lineup. There are plenty of moms and dads here with beers in front of them. The dads can gather under the flat screens to watch the game if they like. Their beers are definitely in the ballpark of where they need to be, which suits the somewhat more ambitious lineup of styles they’ve chosen. It’s not your usual blond, porter, amber, ipa, and so on, that most new breweries offer. It’ll be interesting to see if these guys try to build a reputation for their beers at other beer spots, or if they sell most of them in-house. We didn’t try the pizza, but only due to timing. They smelled incredible, and looked great. We toyed with the idea of the charcuterie plate, but it looked like $2 worth of supermarket charcuterie, and nothing else, and cost $13 (at least). The whole menu of beer and food is on a gigantic 12’ high chalkboard over the bar. This place is a pretty damn long drive for me, but I’d happily come back. “

“Pretty large place in an industrial park. Only about 8 beers on tap when I went, almost all of which were pretty weak, though the IPA and stout are decent. No flights available when I went, but service was very friendly and generous with free samples. Had a [vegan] soup which was delicious. Not an especially worthwhile place to hit unless you’re in Bellevue and want some ticks.“

“Made the trek out of Seattle at the recommendation of the venerable beastiefan2k - one of those grocery store sized liquor stores so common in the Midwest and west - this is not exactly a bad thing (some of my favorite beer stores fall into this category (see Binny’s in Chicago) - a lot of unrefridgerated beer sitting under bright fluorescent lighting - very extensive selection, though, all of which is organized by style (American craft beer) or country (imports) - seasonals and special releases have their own section as well - loads of singles - six packs if you’d rather - they seem to put things on sale often enough, but some product has clearly been sitting here forever, so I’m not sure how and when they decide to put stuff on sale - I saw 750s of Dupont Avril from 2012, and Stillwater 750s (they’ve been using 12 ounce bottles and bombers for quite some time now), just to give a few examples - prices were mostly fair - staff was non-existent while shopping (unless you count the dude pouring samples of some new beers who clearly wanted to get the hell out of there), but the girl who checked us out was nice - the selection and sales alone would get me to return, but it’s not what I’d call a great store.“

“Food is great; service is so-so. What I dig about this place is that their local beers are not from the usual suspects. Instead, they choose very small breweries on the Eastside. Triplehorn from Woodinville, and Hi-Fi from Redmond, on the night we were there. That is something you don’t see often.“

“Had a complete prix fixe dinner tonight with flights matched to apps, entrees, and desserts. My buddy James had the same sequence with different wines and in some cases different dishes. The place tries really hard to be big and substantial, almost imposing, for a little corner spot in a brand new office tower. Enormous multi-ton steel doors with cool die cuts and back lighting, polished concrete everywhere you look (counters and floors alike), heavy wrought iron stools and chairs. Friendly and efficient young staff. Not insanely wine knowledgable but can more than hold their own against the very solid wine list Purple offers. And Purple is most definitely here to _sell_ wine, not hoard it--flights, pairings, bottles, a huge list of by the glass. They don’t even store bottles on their sides. They clearly expect to sell them long before any corks ever dry out. That’s a fully respectable choice, especially given how many bottles are in direct exposure to huge windows at all their stores. They best be hustling them out the door. We had goat cheese and roasted red peppers with pita points--plenty of red pepper but more of a creme fraiche flavor and consistency than chevre. Pate with crostini--rich and flavorful, very dense and chewy crostini. Nice olive oil with awesome sweet yellow peasant bread...tough to sop any balsamic, but whatever. Salads were great, very bitter, with some pickled daikon (or something or other) alongside. J had the pork chop, which was just a well prepared mild piece of clean white pork with some cool vegetable sautee here and there. The white salmon came out with lavender flowers, vegetable frisee, heavily toasted skin on, and some great puree and grain underneath. Very well executed and clearly the dish they were most excited about putting some flavor to. Some dry shortcake for dessert. All the wines paired well, all were tasty and interesting on their own. Great Oregon pinot with the fish, nice muscat with dessert, a decent pinot gris with the salad, and a couple other nice-enough whites. The problem was that all of this with tip was $182. I would be completely thrilled if they could have given us all this for $50 less. As it was, I was happy to be able to pay James back a favor I owed him with dinner, but startled enough by the price that I don’t need to come back too awfully soon. Not that they don’t deserve the business, it’s just that I could buy dinner for two for a week at decent cheap places for that kind of scratch.“

“Waitstaff was annoyed with my large group consisting of a couple of young children. Slow service. Needed to approach the bar for aid when the waitress went MIA for some time. The menu selection looked great but the execution was lacking in all aspects. I had a Cuban sandwich that seemed like just some random grinder with nothing to suggest its namesake. Sampled others plates and was equally disappointed. Not one person at my table thought the food was impressive and most chose not to finish their meals. The beer selection looked pretty food however we were informed that they were out of a few of the offerings - which were those we most wanted to try. That was particularly annoying considering the poor execution of the dinner items. Overall this place was a resounding dud which really is a shame considering its convenient location for meetup.“

“I’ve been coming here for about a year, and it grows on you. It’s more comfortable and less formal than International Taphouse. They have a projection TV, so it’s terrific for sports. Food is pub fare, but there are real exceptional offerings: 1. You can get pulled lamb in both a sandwich and taco format. 2. Tacos are street style with pulled pork, lamb, chicken, or beef and outstanding 3. Mussels are great, in a cream sherry sauce with smoked salmon They have good fundamental base beers on which to build some special stuff. My personal favorite is their Scotch Ale, which isn’t as overwhelmingly malty as your average one. I rank their IPA above Trickster and below Triplehorn’s. One advantage of coming to the brewery is to get some of their limited release barrel aged beers...yum! Good selection of guest ciders (FinnRiver and Tieton). Limited guest beers (Iron Horse Irish Death, Double Mountain Kolsch). Management is experienced...Scott was founder of the original Leavenworth (not Icicle) Brewery years ago. Overall, a non-pretentious, bigger craft brewer that’s Bellevue’s best informal beer destination. “

“We visited on a Sunday afternoon, the dining room was about half full and the bar area was full. We sat at a table and were immediately greeted and given menus (which was nice). We then proceeded to wait about 10 minutes until our server came back to us. It’s a revamped industrial space that has a fully exposed walk-in fridge along with a semi-open kitchen. House-made beers are decent and the guest tap list although short is interesting. Food consists of the expected slap-and-serve brewery grub...and the prices are reasonable (in the Bellevue sense). With all the hype and buzz regarding Bellevue’s first microbrewery I hate to say that I am somewhat disappointed. I really wanted to LOVE this brewery but in reality I do not. It feels like a shell of a brewery-restaurant operating in a space that still seems temporary.“

“I expected your typical new-brewery experience, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very spacious and open, relaxed, clean and well laid out (keg cooler is directly behind the bar), though it could use some large-format art or photographs to break up the minimalism ... although that may be in the plans (this brewery has only been open for a month and a half). There’s also a huge projection screen and some flat screens. I didn’t eat but I overheard great things about the food, and everything I saw pass by us looked good. All the bartenders that took care of us were attentive and very friendly. The five beers on tap were all tasty and above average or well above average, and I’m sure they plan on having more on tap on a regular basis, based on the open taps. If you’re a hophead, you’ll really love this place. I’m not sure how they acquired Citra hops just starting out, but they use them in their IPA and CDA. This place is definitely worth visiting.“

“The selection is pretty amazing, and a lot of the prices are pretty right on. They beat the crap out of breweries, wineries, and distributors over cost. That puts a good price on the shelf in some cases, most notably with a few beers and wines. This is an entire supermarket worth of aisles and coolers, all devoted to intoxicants of one form or another. You see wines when you walk in; walk to the far side of the front of the store and you’re in the beer aisles. Toward the back is the liquor. The beers are organized by country, with a whole aisle of American beers organized by the bigger style families--IPAs, stouts, and so on. Most of the beers are singles, and you can mix and match. There are a few six-packs, most of them are in coolers on the back wall. There are sixers and half racks and cases of the big industrial beers on another aisle. They’re actually pretty great about putting little buyer’s guides out, truth be told. They’re free, and there seem to be little stacks of them on just about every aisle. I could definitely see shopping here for bulk purchases (like before a party, or stocking a new bar or something). And the selection is vastly larger than supermarkets can offer. They don’t seem to have all the special beer releases that the little bottle shops have, but they did have at least one (Sneaky Pete from Laughing Dog) that’s not everywhere. Virtually none of the beer here is cold, though they do offer a few taps for tasters and growler fills.“

“Facebook Brewing Company finally opens its doors. After two years of "Coming Soon!" announcements, status updates, pictures of concrete floors, and all the other preamble, they have finally opened their doors. These guys are 100% motivated to be the absolute best in the world. This sets them apart from almost every other brewery on the planet. Everybody else wants to make great beer, be a part of the community, maybe serve some great food, give back with jobs, have fun, and enjoy time with their friends. BBC makes no bones about the fact that they want to get big, create revenue, and attain recognition as top dogs. You know what? That’s perfectly fine. They’ve already secured more square footage than many breweries that have been around for years, and already have a brew system in place (20bbl) that’s larger than many established breweries. They do have a couple of employees with brewery experience, and their first couple of beers are good. The kitchen is already operational, with a menu of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, and entrees. Good choices for brewpub far. The dining room itself is full of matching furniture, high ceilings, flat screen TVs, and lots of prefabricated materials locked tidily into place. These guys are working hard at getting the most out of the millions of investment dollars they have behind them, and no doubt they will succeed. I wish them all the best.“

“More of a corner burger and beer joint than a beer mecca, but it has its good points. This is one of the few places in Bellevue that has evolved over time into something of an institution. It’s a little corner spot, neighborhoody, though it’s perched on the edge of the new skyscraping downtown. It’s definitely been there for a while. Even outside, you know it’s been the same thing for decades. You walk in past a collage of candid snapshots of customers. There’s that good old 70s American suburban carpenty on display, stained 2x4s serving as mini-walls that homeowners back then called "dividers." Inside, there are tight little phalanxes of booths and tables, and, like the parking lot, they’re packed. The light is low, the globes on the fixtures I think were in some cases probably colored amber. You are transported in so many ways to the interior design principles prevalent during the Ford administration. For some of us, this is intensely nostalgic, so I’m saying these things by way of recommending the place. Though it does pain me, thinking of the collective sacrifice made by all the baby naugas, giving their hydes to cloth the tables. This place is all about the burgers. They have a few other things they fry, plus probably another menu item here and there. But they have about ten burgers, and they’re good $9 pub burgers. The buns came from a bag, but everything else tastes pretty fresh. And besides, if they put the burgers on fancy buns and upped the price a buck, though, it would ruin everything, so they’re right to stick with the bagged buns. The beers aren’t fancy. Well, unless you think Stella Artois and Mac and Jacks are fancy. I have great affection for time-honored friendly low-key places with burgers and beers, and this place certainly qualifies. I’ll be back.“

“This place is great, for a Whole Foods. The beer buyer seems like he really cares about what the patrons think. He really seems to take pride in his buying abilities. I found things here that I haven’t seen at some of the "best" beer places in Seattle, and other outlying areas. Some beers, as I have found out through others on this site, were fairly under-priced. The beers that I was expecting to be overpriced, were not. Solid selection of American craft brews. The Euro section is a bit underplayed. The food is, well, Whole Foods food, which I’ve never been disappointed with. Lots of great stuff here. As far as my first choice, I wouldn’t make it such, but as a place where I could go to find an interesting selection with beers that are sold-out, or non-existent in other areas, sure...why not? Give this place a stop when you’re in Bellevue.“

“There are four upscale Purple Cafe’s in the area; I haven’t been to the Seattle one yet, but we have a track record in Woodinville, Kirkland, and Bellevue. My wife doesn’t drink beer for medical (so she says) reasons, so we have a constant issue of finding good wine for her and good beer for me. Our current favorite compromise on the Eastside is Cafe Veloce, but if the monthly commission check is generous, then it’s off to Purple Cafe. This is a yuppie place, especially in Bellevue and Kirkland, with the Woodinville location serving a more refined and genteel group of baby boomers. Obviously a great selection of wines at better (sometimes bargain) prices than many of the other wine bars in the area. They have some outstanding Washington wines that may be first (Efeste Final-Final $50) or second label wineries ( Amavi cab from Walla Walla - $50). Let the servers guide you. But what about the beer? When they first opened their Woodinville store, we hounded them regularly to get some decent beer. They responded and now have a small selection that represents some of the best of breed. Only a couple of drafts, with local favorite Mac and Jack’s African Amber and Georgetown’s pilsner. Twelve bottled beers, but some good stuff: Bear Republic Racer 5, La Fin du Monde, and Dogfish Black and Blue. Bad news tonight, there were no stouts on the list. The outstanding thing about this place is that they will have perfect food to pair wtih the beers, and the bartender (and some of the servers) have been educated about what goes with what. Tonight, the wife had a risotto with chanterelle and marscarpone, and I had the duck special. A bit pricy (good luck getting out of there for less than $120 for two), but it’s nice to have some decent beer choices along with a great wine selection.Go to Costco and buy a gifit card for Purple Cafe for 25% off. P.S., I apologize in advance for copying this same review to all three locations where I’ve been.“
