“Swung by for lunch on a Monday, place was surprisingly crowded (no trouble finding a seat though). Good beer selection, nothing too hard to get but with 24 pretty well-curated taps it's pretty easy to get new ticks (focused on the PNW, of course). Happy with the food, happy with the beer. Not a place I'd go out of my way to go to, but was in the neighborhood anyways and happy I made the stop.“

“Stopped by for a Saturday brunch with my toddler. So yes, this place is kid-friendly and is noisy enough where another child doesn't make people hate you. The beer itself was ... fine. The porter was legit excellent, everything else was just competent without much more to say about it. The food was superb, great french toast, awesome bacon (even on the bacon scale, where everything is a 10 but some is an OHMYGOD 10, this was in the upper half of bacon I've had). Rating is for the beer, not the bacon. The fact that I had both is why I'm fat.“

“Great new place to grab some food and a beer in Bothell. Located conveniently just a few hundred feet from Hop and Hound, and a 3 minute drive from Beardslee Public House. A nice stop if you are hitting the beer places in Bothell, or if you are just looking for one place to grab a pint. Small, comfortable restaurant that has a brewpub feel. Love that they give you roasted grain to snack on. I thought I was the only one that did that, while brewing at home. A wide variety of styles ranging over 27 taps (24 beers and 3 taps containing root beer, kombucha, etc). I got pints during my visits, but I believe they offer smaller pours as well. The food menu is small, but very interesting. My type of food, and very tasty. Crowlers were flying out the door from this place. Decent prices. Seems the beer had a head problem when I was there. I was just watching the bar staff spooning out foam for minutes after pouring each beer. Strange, but once the beer was finally poured, all was good. Overall a good experience my first two times in. Being so close to home, I know I'll be back again. Definitely worth a stop if you've never been.“

“Great place. A big central hotel and restaurants. Very big pool with a bar overlooking it with a fun tikki theme. A few smaller bars in the courtyard. Not as spacy as the Portland locations but it is in Seattle. I had a few of the beers made here and they are good quality. I’d say that this is the perfect hotel for a beer lover. A ton of beers on tap over the whole complex, maybe 35. Really a fun place. Easygoing, lots of beer.“

“Very busy place every time I go. Convenient, easy to get to location, though it’s difficult to park in the small UW Bothell village center. With an extremely busy bus stop for the campuses being right out front, this place makes for a perfect jump in and grab a beer really quick while I wait for the bus. Or in my case, swing in for a few minutes on my way home from work. Very expensive, modern looking place. The bar area doesn’t have TV’s, though the dining area does. I found this to be extremely strange and backwards. I’ve experienced the restaurant from both sides and it’s an overall enjoyable experience. Very loud. The echos of the restaurant crowd noise can probably be heard from the distillery downstairs. The beers are always good, and the conversation from the staff is always entertaining. The food is solid, and a little different than your usual pub grub. Not surprised with the chef behind the business. Family friendly pub. A little pricey, but not too much to keep me from coming back. About a dozen house beers crafted onsite, constantly rotating to something new, which is nice. Just don’t try to order the Crafted Onsite. They say it’s very dry.“

“The place itself is nicely done up, featuring a modern but rustic feel to the place. It was more or less dead in here when I visited on a Friday evening. Flights of 4 available for $10, which is a bit expensive. Service was friendly enough and generous with free samples. Unfortunately, I’ll have to contradict the first reviewer about the beer quality - maybe half were fine, and half were badly infected to the point of being undrinkable. Not impressive especially for the higher price point that this place has no business charging. Maybe worth checking out again in some time to see if they’ve fixed the beers, but as of now, can’t recommend it.“

“This place has only been open for a few weeks and they are already making the best beer in Snohomish Country. They’ve put together a welcoming taproom on a budget, and they’ve added music, comedy, games, and sports programming. You have to figure out food on your own, and if you’re looking for tasty beer or a growler fill, these guys are killing it.

On the west of B-E Highway, in a long stretch of garages and warehouses and other small businesses, these guys have found a production facility with plenty of space for tables and a bar, and a decent amount of parking out front.

Inside, they’ve stripped and cleaned and painted everything. They put in string lights to create a soft and warm illumination for the space. There’s a big-screen projector unit, which was showing the Sounders when we showed up. We asked to switch to football, and as the only customers, we won the vote. A dozen more people showed up, and all seemed to be in favor of football, but I know the brewer behind the bar was more into soccer, so I am still grateful to him for switching the channel.

There’s a beautiful antique barback behind the bar--they built the counter and the base themselves, and then they scored some fine old woodwork through lucky family connections. There’s not much else going on in the room--highboys, regular tables, a side table full of games, some stacks of kegs and other equipment pushed into corners and outside your peripheral vision. They DO offer a table of board and card games, which is pretty cool. In back, they built a couple pretty damn nice bathrooms. I love seeing startups manage a good job of this stuff. I mean, they went into business to make beer, so if they can do well in constructing the place without breaking the bank, that deserves some applause.

Their beers are just rad--all clean, with crystal-clear flavors. The Russian imperial stout is a classic, just a masterpiece of the original UK interpretation of the style. Both the English and the NW IPA are wonderful. Good altbier, and the American pale is decent (not quite as vibrant as their others, but still good). Their dark mild is the most surprising--NW hops on a classic English session style, and tons of flavor at only 3% ABV. They have a ton of beers you can drink all day, and they happily fill growlers. Can’t wait to try more beers from these guys--they had a few pouring yesterday that I didn’t get to.“

“A very small and rather cramped bottle shop and taproom / growler fill station. Bottle selection is limited but well-curated, as is the taplist. You can order anything in 5 oz pours for a reasonable price. Super friendly service. Just a few minutes from the Beardslee, so worth popping in.“

“Big, modern place that feels like it had a lot of money thrown at at. Good selection of beers, but not the most ambitious styles. You can order flights for a little more than other places. Big food menu too, including lots of veggie (and even vegan) options. Very friendly service. Wasn’t overly impressed with the beer quality, but it was decent. Cool place that is worth checking out.“

“This is for the North Shore Lagoon, which is only part of the Anderson School complex, which comprises multiple buildings and a big parking lot in the heart of Bothell, near the high school football stadium. They remodeled a junior high, and this is the pool building. The city tried to keep it going as a public pool, but they had no money to fix it up, and it never generated any income. Enter the historical reclamation specialists.

Now, this bar serves as overflow seating for the big restaurant next door, in a sense. The main floor is locker rooms and a 5’ saltwater pool, which steams up the windows upstairs a bit. Looks kinda fun. Lots of kids in there--there was even a kids’ birthday party at the table next to us. Seems like this place could do very well focusing on kid parties. They even have a lifeguard on duty.

As you can imagine, the space upstairs is shaped rather strangely, given that it was never intended to be a cocktail bar. That’s both cool and problematic, depending on how you lay it out. Unfortunately, it’s one of the most cramped layouts I can ever remember seeing. There’s a long, narrow bar with long, narrow dining rooms on either side. They tried to fit rows of booths and rows of tables in here, rather than mixing movable table of varying sizes. As a result, there’s a narrow channel where bussers, servers, kitchen staff, and guests all have to take turns walking back and forth, and you end up with people jostling tables all night. Tear out the booths and put in more tables. You’re trying to fit 110 people in the space for 40. You can still pack it, even with tables. Granted, the place was more than half full on a Monday night (during football season, even), but navigating when it’s busy is a nightmare.

Happy hour ends at 6, and they pull stuff off the happy hour menu then. They don’t change the price, they just pull some items. They switch to a short list of burgers, pizzas, and salads, with a handful of wildly overpriced appetizers ($18 for a couple bites of not much). We checked out the Dragon Boats, which are Sysco pork meatballs with shredded carrot and a small piece of lettuce--3 of these for $12. Two of us had burgers, two had salads. The salads come with vermicelli. In fact, four menu items come with vermicelli. They were out of vermicelli, but said they’d have more in 20 minutes. It doesn’t take 20 minutes to make vermicelli if you’re just warming it up. Five minutes later, they had more again. The waitress never knew any of this without making a special trip back to the kitchen to ask, so ordering took forever.

She also didn’t know they were out of one of their beers, until we ordered it. We tried the Ruby, which tasted like synthetic fruit syrup and wet grain, and the Centinel, which had over-sweet malt notes, and no flavor or aroma hops--just bittering. We switched to the Terminator, with better results.

When it came time to clear the plates, I was hoping our server was getting more comfortable and hitting her stride, but then she asked my boy C to put his napkin on the plate for her. Evidently she is only involved in clearing tables part-time, and doesn’t actually take care of all those pesky details.

I’d love to spend more time talking about the cool tiki iconography here, the fun bamboo decorations, the clearly-reclaimed windows and other architectural touches. But our dinner of burgers and beers for 4 people totaled $194 before tip, and the service and quality were barely on par with a meal costing half that. Beers here are about 12 ounces, and run $6. Maybe the greediest beer pricing I’ve seen on a regular ale lineup. I get that they have some big loans to repay on some incredibly cool historical restoration, but it’s hard to find the value, as priced, with what’s on offer in the dining room.“

“Dear god, this place is noisy. They clearly chose to emphasize the noise, if not amplify it. They built this place from dirt, and spent millions upon millions doing it, and they put not one single stitch of acoustic baffling anywhere in the room. They went for almost a converted-industrial-space look in a sense; it’s very Spartan, so some baffling panels would not have looked weird, either. Maybe they wanted people to flash back nostalgically to college parties or something? Who knows…but, man, it’s loud. You have to lean way over to get close enough to the staff’s earholes to place your order.

The parking lot makes you feel like you’re in an office park a little bit; that other building is probably residential, but the materials make it look like an office. There’s a grain silo out front of Beardslee, so you can tell it’s a brewery, if you recognize it as a grain silo. Parking is tight, especially on weekend evenings, because this place gets PACKED. It looks almost like a simple shed from the outside, and it doesn’t really seem like it will be huge indoors. But it is.

You walk in to a large waiting area, with more waiting area over there. (Seriously). There’s a huge bar over to the right. Off to the left, there are a bunch of dining rooms and patios and decks, all with seating (when the weather’s nice). The staff are bubbly and seem like they’re barely old enough to serve alcohol (but that says more about my age than theirs). We posted up in the bar, where the seating was just comfortable enough, all the construction materials were high-grade, and the system of menus, specials, beer lists, and other literature in front of us would have done Leo Tolstoy proud—seriously, so many pages of words.

We had the meat candy, which is awesome—pork jerky, sliced very thin, grilled with sweet teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds. It’s so good, even though on paper it sounds dirt simple. The pretzels were also great, with awesome dipping sauces. The charcuterie plate was just alright; good value, but the chicken liver pate was way too sweet. The pickled chanterelles were fantastic, though. The chicken mole sausage special was great, but it just tasted like any other sausage, not especially chocolatey or peanutty or spicy or anything that would make you think it was mole. Good, though.

In the end, these four appetizers, five beers, and a cocktail cost us $84 before tip. The cocktail was made with house vodka and added $12 to the bill, so the tab would have been even lower without that. Damn good gimlet, though. On the ground floor, they’re brewing (and another, related business is distilling) all kinds of house stuff. The beers are all very good, sometimes great, and the beer prices are right in line with everybody else’s.

Given the pedigree of this place, it might seem more expensive than it is. It’s not cheap, but it’s doing wonderful stuff, and they deliver value for the prices. If you stick with beers, your tab won’t be a heck of a lot higher than most other watering holes. “

“Small bottle shop and tap room, that looks like it fills out to a wonderful outdoor place in the summer. I’ve unfortunately only been in the cold months and it is a bit cramped and uncomfortable. A hugely admirable attention to new and smaller local breweries, with a few rare big hitters from the West Coast showing up on tap, but the prices are skeptically high. Nice location in the old town center of Bothell, which is growing to be a hub near the highway, with two breweries/brewpubs opening this year nearby. Its a great local place, and I’m glad to have them in the neighborhood, but its not the first place I think of nor my favorite atmosphere. And unlikely to be worth the drive for out of towners.“

“Spacious new brewery restaurant in a somewhat odd location with somewhat difficult parking. The beer itself is a fairly standard lineup for a PNW brewery (lots of hoppy beers plus a wheat and some adjuncts). The beer itself was a bit above average, and the food was nice. Both are a bit overpriced. But this is a place to keep an eye on if you’re in this part of the city.“

“These guys have scored a fantastic location in Main Street Bothell and they are absolutely tearing it up as a specialty craft beer bar. They’re right on the shoulder of how Main Street now overlooks Bothell Way, and they’ve made the most of a small shoebox-shaped space on a side street that links those two thoroughfares. There’s tons of seating upstairs, and tons of covered seating outside in the parking lot. The outside space features several picnic tables cloaked in by tent-like walls and roofing. There’s even a decent-sized flat-screen out there, usually showing the game. Inside, it feels like it barely has any footprint at all, at least when you first walk in. There are a couple of coolers with a small variety of bottles there. There are about 14 faucets pouring behind the bar, usually with very small-batch local stuff or very interesting beers from out of state--sometimes featuring kegs that are very hard to get. They’re steadily building up a nice network with breweries and distributors. The prices are fair here, given the quality and scarcity of the beers on offer. The staff is small--just a younger couple and their dog. That hound seems kinda barky at first, but he’s perfectly friendly and loves the company that he gets from "working" here. Evidently, the owners are fairly new to the beer world, but you’d never guess it. They’re learning so fast and doing such a great job that all bases are covered. For beer lovers, there’s been a pretty long geographical gap between the east side and the north end. Bothell and Kenmore had decent places to grab a pint, but nothing that really specialized in unusual stuff. These guys have turned that around completely, and now are pouring stuff that not too many other places have. Will definitely be back.“

“Small bottle shop opened up off the main strip in old town Bothell. They always have 14 taps on, which are guaranteed to have something new. Ciders on tap as well. Very limited bottle selection, but what they do have there is all good, well rotated, and constantly updated. Owners are always there, and can strike a conversation with you about not just beer (though they know a lot about it), but about anything really. Very importantly to me as well, this is a dog friendly establishment. Food trucks occasionally be available out front. Love this place. I’ll keep going back.“

“Our man has a house in the woods with a spacious garden; he transformed the double garage into a taproom; visited on a sunny afternoon at the end of the summer, this is a corner of paradise. Nice country-folk-rock music on the radio, fits the picture. Very good beer, more English tradition, some experimental, and less PNW beers. They use huckleberries from their garden and they grow a few hop plants too. Very friendly service, giving samples of beers not on the list, and allowing to stay one hour after closing time.
Wonderful place; come, grab a beer and relax.“

“Nice little watering hole that evidently has come a long way in the last few years. It’s clean and well run, and the food is really awesomeinteresting and well-prepared, with lots of alternatives to the usual pub fare. The staff is super efficient and on top of it even when slammed. The problem is that they don’t serve any really dazzling beer. Lots of good stuff, so if you’re in the Bothell area specifically, it’s fine. But for tourists I would have to say don’t botherevery single thing on draft here is available all over town, so it’s not worth the extra drive unless you have time to kill.“

“Atmospherically it’s not unlike Fred’s Rivertown Tavern...one big room, lots of wood, long bar and a lot of taps. The selection was mainly local standards so it’s not competitive with the ticker pubs in Seattle but it seems like a place I’d go to a lot if I lived in Bothell for its casual atmosphere and wide variety.“

“The Bothell Main Street Ale House (BMSAH) is a great rustic place. First place I had Mac & Jack’s African Amber. Good stuff. The beer selection is good with at least four our five really nice beers on tap. This place surprised me with the quality of the food. The prosciutto and provolone sandwich on focaccia bread can really hit the spot with their house made spicy potato chips along side a nice craft brew on tap. Some of the staff has turned over recently so I don’t know too much about the current help. Sure can’t complain. Last time I was there with my wife and 8 month old son the new people were very nice. I can’t wait for another chance to go back for a PnP, spicy chips and a brew. Usually plenty of parking out back (back entrance through small patio area) and/or the adjacent lot out back across the street to the west.“
