“It’s been 10 years since I been to this wild and beautiful corner of WV. Stumptown Brewing is a very welcome addition to the beer scene here. The beers I had here were all top notch. Plus the small bar was cozy and easy to strike up a conversation with the locals.“

“Small place on the main drag in Davis. Packed on a Sunday, making for a noisy, crowded taproom. Considering their location near recreation, they do not have nearly enough space. Friendly staff, no flights. No food either.“

“Surprisingly solid brewery in Davis, WV near Blackwater Falls, right on the main street. It's a small cozy place, some TVs. Pretty large tap list, can't remember exactly how many, but a good selection. Had some IPas, triple, porter, pale ale, kolsch. Solid beers, perhaps nothing spectacular, but better than average. An enjoyable place for beer in an otherwise fairly sparse area of the country.“

“Nice little brewery in one of my favorite areas in WV. A great place to stop after a hike. They have a small tasting room with a bar and a few tables. They had about a dozen beers on tap when I stopped in, heavy on IPAs. Everything I tried was quite good, though I couldn't try too many as they do not do flights. I did get some cans and a growler to go. For some reason they only serve a select few beers in growlers.“

“Great brewery in Davis, West Virginia. Almost all the beer I tried in here was excellent. They don't do flights so tough to try too many if driving through though. Kind of a funky little town though, as small as it is. I ended up camping nearby at night. Friendly service and pretty bustling place. In my limited experience, this is probably the best brewery in WV in terms of quality beer.“

“Free parking on the side. Side big wooden bar in wooden cabin style interior. Service was very good, you can try a beer before you buy. Prices are good. I would come back. I asked for a water and got a bottle of water at no additional cost and had pretzels on the bar, nice touches. I like Six Legged Frog.“

“I parked at Stumptown and walked. You enter a first room with some tables and the a room with a few tables and the bar. I had the pork shovelhead burrito which was good. Decent tap beer selection and a few bottles in a cooler you can see behind the bar. Pricing was good. I would go back.“

“Beautiful looking place in a remodeled old historic building, lots of wood, brick, etc...Had about 6 beers on tap & everything I had was good. Had the 6 Legged Frog, Mrs Hippie. Only a couple food items which rotate; I had some good Pork Sliders w/slaw. Really enjoyed the laid back, casual atmosphere. The place to visit if you are in Davis, Thomas, or Blackwater Falls WV!“

Hellbender Burritos (Restaurant)

“Stopped in here on my way through. I walked in just after they opened at 11 AM and was the only person there for a little while. The waitress I had was great. She knew what beers they had on draft, knew the styles, prices and so on. Also, there was a man that was behind the bar briefly that seemed even more in tune with the beer. I ordered a Lost River seasonal, but there were some other WV beers on tap plus a Sierra Nevada Ovila. The burrito I ordered was the Hellbender with Shrimp and it was quite good. I liked that they had a variety of quality hot sauces as well. I used a smoky habanero hot sauce for the tortilla chips that came with my burrito. My beer and burrito came in under $20 before tip, so I was very pleased with their pricing. I will hopefully get back here some day. This is a very cool place.“

“Right on the main drag in Davis, which seemed like a neat little town. Street parking was plentiful when we visited in late March. Once inside all you see is tables and people munching huge and tasty looking burritos, but keep going til you see the bar - it’s a slightly cramped affair, but cozy, and both server and locals were friendly and helpful. They seem very beer-focused, with a couple of WV beers on tap, and a Randall, which held coffee beans to infuse a Coal Miner’s Daughter oatmeal stout when we visited. Non-local taps were interesting, and so was the bottle list. We had just eaten at Lost River, so we’ll have to return to try the burritos, which came highly recommended by everyone else in town we met. A worthwhile and easy stop, whether staying or passing through.“
