72 /100 3322-1, KITAAZUMIGUN HAKUBAMURA When you are in Hakuba there are not a ton ton of options, but definitely this has one of the nicest settings. Big open windows facing ski hills. Beer selection is a bit limited and food is similar to Harajuku taproom (so yakitori), but still a great place to kick back after a day of skiing. A bit off the beat and track in Hakuba, but walkable from the center of the village and doesn't require the effort that Hakuba brewering does to get there. |
94 /100 NOZAWA ONSEN. NAGANO Love this place and their Beers. Great atmosphere and staff, sadly very little in the way of food. Some insane rare bottles out back, Westy 12, Black Damnation, Hill farmstead etc. A must if your in the area. |
80 /100 NOZAWA ONSEN. NAGANO 9 taps and about 7 bottles of their own beers. Prices seem steep, but they have weird sizes for some beers , ie. all beers are U.K. pints of half pints but who wants a U.K. Pint of 11.5% barley wine for 1600 yen? And bottles are cheap, even most expensive barley aged beer was 1000 yen for bourbon ba imp stout. Standing only. Friendly staff. Very popular especially early evening before dinner. Not a very big place. Fits max 16 people standing and that would mean some people can’t move. Comfortable at 10-12 people. Doubt anyone would travel to Nozawa Onsen just to visit here, but if you are going to Nozawa Onsen, you would be crazy not to visit here. |
84 /100 3322-1, KITAAZUMIGUN HAKUBAMURA Newly opened by a friendly American/Japanese couple, it has the most extensive lineup of craft beer in Hakuba. All wood interior looking out on the Olympic ski jumps and mountains. Close to Happone. The hotel itself has 12 rooms and its own onsen. Mostly Baird (of course), but with a guest tap or two. Very tasty and resonably priced yakitori etc...Nombei card gets you 12 pints for 10,000. Can’t get much better that that, especially for an area that until recently only had craft beer in cans.
