Korker Liquors (Beer Store)
2229 E COAST HWY
“This place is run by an omnipresent, extremely knowledgable, and extraordinarily service oriented owner who personally loves craft beer. Has an excellent and eclectic selection of hard to get craft beers. All quality instead of pointless diversity and quantity. Little shelf space is wasted on beers easily obtained at the specialty rack of the supermarket. He had the original batch of Hangar 24's bourbon barrel aged Pugachev's Cobra in the back storage room. Although he stocks beers from the recognized best (3-Floyd's, Founders, Goose Island) he has the unique talent of identifying unique and truly great beers that are not necessarily from the standard over hyped names. He also had an incredible inventory of elite small batch bourbons (Pappy Van Winkle!) and single malt scotch's. As far as service, any liquor store owner who opens a bottle of beer to let me try it at no charge prior before I commit to buying a six pack has my undying loyalty as a customer. It is also less than 50 paces walking distance from here to the Crow Bar and the Side Door who are two of the best craft beer bistro pubs on the west coast. I can't recommend this small but elite liquor store more highly!!!“

“In the style of an English tavern with a wide variety of seating options, although usually busy enough that you won’t get your pick. Nicely varied, constantly rotating beer selection, combining fun west coast craft brews with European imports. About a dozen taps, more in bottle. The whole experience is generally somewhat expensive, but the beer itself is pretty reasonable. The food here is excellent, and in my mind, the real draw to this bar. In the dozen or so times I’ve gone here, I’ve never had food I didn’t like. Don’t miss the cheese and charcuterie plates. Also a well stocked bar and cellar for those poor souls who don’t drink beer.“

“Visited the SideDoor last night for the first time and was blown away. Their selection of tap beers is awesome - Allagash Curieux, Green Flash Le Freak, etc. and while their bottle selection is pretty modest, they have a wide range of available bottles from different styles and they are priced quite attractively. The pints are $7 and the bottles range from $9 - $19. Based on the previous review from February, it looks like they change their taps frequently and always have good stuff on tap.

As for the food, it was very good. Much better than the other gastropub near my home, Haven. And on about the same level as the Crow Bar down the street. We started with the avocado mash (aka guacamole) and blue cheese chips (very good hot, but get cold quick). We then all shared main courses with the prime rib sandwich, roast beef sliders, fish & chips, and chicken pot pie. All very good. We also shared the prime rib chili cheese fries. All items are served hot (they come out as they are done - so don’t expect to all be served at the same time). And the prices are very reasonable from $6-$13 per item.

Very impressed and just wish it were much closer to my home.“

“I really enjoyed going to the SideDoor for their first Cap party. It’s part of the 5 Crowns restaurant on PCH & Poppy that’s been there since the 60’s. The tap selection was great: Bruery Berliner Weiss, Melange No. Sechs Shipyard XXX IPA Alesmith Nautical Brown Old Speckled Hen Guiness Lost Abbey Lost & Found Ommegang Hennepin Ballast Point Calico Amber Wells Bombadier Franzsikaner Hefe Avery Dugana The food & service was great. I’ll be back. Highly recommended.“
