78 /100 1151-1 OTSUKA Tiny place, very homey, run by an elderly couple. Beer is served right from the tanks and is poured into glasses and then brought to customers in a metal milk carton holder. Food is simple and very small, but only 200 yen for most items. Beer was in fantastic condition. Only four beers on tap when I was there, but usually 6-7 with seasonals. Great place that is worth the hour trek from Tokyo. Definitely not your typical craft beer bar. |
82 /100 1151-1 OTSUKA Great place and well worth the trip out of Tokyo. Beers and food were great, good prices (500 yen for all beers, regulars in sizes around 400ml and specials in 275ml servings). Small servings available too if you want for 300 yen. Doesn’t seat that many, maybe 15 and there isn’t any standing room really, but this creates a good atmosphere. As we were walking back to the station we were already talking about coming back soon. |
84 /100 1151-1 OTSUKA 2 minute walk from Ogawamachi Station on the Tobu line from Ikebukuro. Great little family-run brewpub. They make adventurous ales using locally grown ingredients, even malting their own barley! All are original styled beers, though not the un-beery beers found in Japan so much. Very friendly folks. Homemade food and fresh baked bread, local sausages and jambon cru. This place is wonderful. Would go daily if it was in my ’hood. Definitely worth the trip from Tokyo. |
