“Went here during my 2019 trip to Ireland. Great place for whiskey but they had some nice beers on tap. The had a great list of cans and bottles.“

“Just back from dinner here with the family. This is in the just-after-covid days, so just happy to eat inside a restaurant again and have some beers from the tap. Also, must mention that I am a massive Tolkien fan. Here’s the short version- food is shite and overpriced, beer selection is poor, Tolkien inspired atmosphere is pathetic, service was excellent though. Here’s the slightly longer version- ordered the soup and a cottage pie. The soup smelled and tasted like feet. The cottage pie was like something reheated from a plastic tray from Aldi. There were two Killarney options on tap, the Red Ale and the Blonde Ale. Had the Red, was fine and boring. The Tolkien inspired atmosphere was just pathetic. A few quotes painted on the wall, one framed photo collection of John Rhys-Davies visiting the pub...and some fecking fairy doors. Disappointed.“

“Solid brewpub in Killarney, just outside the downtown area. They had around 10 taps. A large place - decent circular bar, plenty of tables, outdoor seating as well. A cozy place. I believe they serve food (pizza), but I didn't have any. Beers were pretty good, only craft brewery in town so a must stop.“

“Nice place with ten taps of their own beers. They serve a cracking pizza too! All beers were of good quality and service was fast. Good view to the beer tanks from the bar. A must visit in Killarney.“

“We were on a bus tour of Ireland and ended up with some free time in Killarney so the brewery with my Dad and brother it was. Just outside of the center of town on the main strip heading into or out of town. Small taproom with a dozen or so tables and maybe that many at the bar as well. Small yard outside with a few tables and a satellite bar that was closed when we were there. They had 8 beers on tap and would let you have a flight of 4 of their core beers or half or full pours of anything. I started with a flight then worked through sharing and sampling the others. Nice mix of styles, most were good to great : IPA, Stout, Helles, Winter Warmer, Blonde, Saison, and a Red Ale with Hazelnuts barrel aged. Service was decent but you had to initiate. I can't remember what we paid or if it was a value. I'd go back if I were in Killarney and maybe try the wood fired Pizza too.“

“This is a modern brew pub in an industrial setting where patrons are up close to the brewing vessels. Upon entry there is bar that seats about ten, plus another eleven or so additional tables and stools while out the back is a small verandah with a couple of tables. On tap is their core range (of six) and their seasonals. They also do their range in cans or bottles, some of which are available here. Tasting flights of only the core range are available (six for €14) while seasonals are available as half (€3/half) or pints. Free off-street parking is available a couple of 'doors' down the street. Well worth a visit when in Killarney.“

“Address is 3 Tralee Road, Killarney. Here there are over 170 craft beer labels, many local Irish as well as internationals (from UK, USA, Belgium). In addition there are the usual majors. Some seem expensive however the venue stocks a decent range in the one place.“

“A "Lord of The Rings" themed pub with three such themed beers as well as a Killarney Brewing on tap in the rear bar. In all there are ten taps - four are craft, one is cider and the others are majors.“

“Recent addition to our town - huge whiskey selection. They offer a number of different tastings (also do a gin one). We were here for food and of course drink. Good bottle selection - Irish and Belgian mainly. Taps - 10 (approx - didn’t count them) - all Irish (White Hag, White Gypsy, Killarney Brewing, Trouble Brewing, Wicklow Wolf among them). Not a place you’d normally drop in for a casual pint - though I might.....as the selection is good“

“Amazing bar for whiskey lowers! Whiskey is everywhere! But great place for beergeeks too. 12 taps with local craft beers including 2 barrel-aged is more than I expected. Good prices, very nice modern interior (I just love this whiskey walls), one of best toilets in Irish bars :-) And friendly, helpful staff. Anytime again!“

“Don’t like themed pubs? Don’t come here. Want 20 taps of cask? Same. But if you love the Tolkien books, and like to explore a bit of the Irish nascent beerscene at the same time , do! They offer three of the Ballyvourney based 9 White Deer beers on tap, apart from the classical unavoidable Irish megabrews. But there is more, as the bottles from Torc, the local Killarney brewery. Staff is Irish friendly, which tops "very" and equally enthousiastic.“

“On the road to Muckross from Killarney, less than 5 mins walk. The full range from the brewery, a shop with publicity items as clothing, mugs, etc. Very enthusiastic people, but a bit in the image of Killarney: terribly touristic for the not-so-knowledgeable. Not surprisingly, the stout rocks. !Warning, the brewery could not obtain a classical license, so you might be asked to do a tour of the brewery first, followed by a sampling of the products of your choice. They’re pretty easygoing here, but limited opening hours, hence.“

“Stopped in here at the recommendation of a fellow at the Killarney Brewing Company. They had almost exclusively irish craft beer on tap and had a very nice bottle list to choose from. The bartender was very good to talk with, and was pretty damn funny. Old time irish pub feel. Highly recommend if in kilkenney. They also have a huge whiskey selection if that is of interest.“

“Out of all the pubs in Killarney, of which there are many, this is a stand out. You know you’re in a good spot when the locals drink there too. Just as the other reviews mentioned, all the regular fare on tap but the bottle selection isn’t half bad. Nice ambiance, not touristy, nice fireplace and plenty of seating, a place to relax and have a few nice pints.“

“Pretty good off license. Wide range of bottled beers from Ireland (O’Hara’s, Dungarvan, Bru, plus our local Killarney/Torc and the semi local 9 White Deer). Good few from UK (a lot of Fullers’, Shepherd Neame) and Europe (Belgium). Obviously, bulk of the space is taken by standard canned/bottled macro lagers but you’ll also get beers from Poland (Lech, Tyskie), Lithuania (Syvuturys), Russia (Baltika). I always look in to see if anything interesting is on - but it’s a long haul to convert people so they have to be sensible about what they can sell. “

“As a local I come here from time to time. This pub has probably the best choice of beers in Killarney. They’ve added a few local craft on draught since my initial review - Franciscan Well Rebel Red, Killarney Brewing Golden Spear and Scarlet Pimpernel, and Torc’s Wheat Beer. But you can also enjoy the usual macros you see all over Ireland plus Euro additions - Pilsner Urquell, Erdinger, Paulaner. The bottle menu is fairly good - tends towards German/Czech lagers and Belgians but does feature mainstream beers like Fuller’s London Pride and ESB, and Innis and Gunn offerings plus Irish craft beers - O’Hara’s, Dungarvan, Galway Bay On Plunkett St, there’s another entrance in Brewery Lane. While fairly cramped around the bar there is more room at the back plus an upstairs which is opened sometimes. There’s music at weekends - usually rock oriented not trad. So, you can get a bit "blown out of it" if you’re just there to chat and sip beer. Brian (the owner/manager) does a beer tasting once or twice a year (Hallowe’en and Xmas)- and I’ve enjoyed them a lot and learned a lot too“

“(Visited 11/2012): Courtney’s bar is on Plunkett Street right off Main in downtown Killarney. Street parking is available in the surrounding area and it is in walking distance from nearby hotels.

The interior is dark with worn wood and a fireplace, and has kind of a lodge feel. The curved bar is on the left side. There is a board above the bar listing the available beers.

Courtney’s features their whiskey selection prominently but has a decent beer selection. There are around 12 taps and 50 bottles. The taps are mostly macros like Guinness, Smithwick’s and Carlsberg. However the bottled beers include some craft breweries in Ireland like Dungarvan and other options like Affligem, Duvel and Bishop’s finger.

Service at the bar was friendly.

I don’t think this place offers food.

Overall this is a decent bar to hit in Killarney.“
