“Graham House has actually relocated to Grafton Street, it is now located inside the Nova Centre. It is quite spacious, good food and a nice selection of their own products. I have been there a few times, the only complaint is that the air conditioning is too cold. I have not tried the patio as there was major construction going on just outside “

“A friendly wine shop that also stocks 30+ beers from NS, NB, PEI, ONT & QC. As well as a few US, Belgium / Holland etc. Great location on waterfront & weekend opening hours, Fri & Sat till midnight.“

“A good place to spend an hour or so with reasonable beers. A selection of 10+ taps with 650ml bottles to take home.“

“A Labatt owned establishment which is a fairly un busy tourist trap on a Saturday July Afternoon. Patio was a reasonable place to try a uninspiring Alexander Keith's IPA. Brewery tours are now $26 with plenty of Gullibles takers.“

“A busy bar on a Friday afternoon with a great range of locally brewed beers on 12 taps plus there own made bottles to drink in or take away. Service was good.“

The Wooden Monkey (Restaurant)
“From a beer point of view rather disappointing. It's got crafts, but more the can crushers of lagers, ales, stouts none of which pulled in a RB score over mid 60. The food is ok. Striving for something interest, but doesn't quite get there. Better than the East Sides up the hill, but rather worst than the Stubborn Goat a couple of blocks over. Go there.“

“Located thanks to RB. A solid pub with 16 local crafts and a few psudeo-craft macros (Toronto repped by Millstreet, le sigh) and a decent lunch menu. Worth the walk up the hill.“

“Garrison brews some decent beers and the brewery is well situated on the waterfront near Pier 21. Until July 1st 2018 they can only serve flights.“

“Right downtown, Stillwell doesn't look like much during the day but gets seriously hopping at night and seems to be a haunt for Halifax's beer geeks. Lots of great brewing going on in the city and this place pays homage to all of them, rotating kegs and casks frequently it seems. Selection is great with tonnes of local stuff and a few international things like Mikkellers just to shake it up a little. I got so caught up in the drinking I forgot about the food. In terms of beer geek places this one's up there for sure.“

“Set in an old historic house downtown I sat in the basement which had a very chill classic pub vibe but not seedy. Food was really nice and well made, and they did selected flights which were laid out in their menu. This place seems a little more high end than your usual beer tasting venue but that makes it all the more special, really enjoyed the place. Several locals on tap and a few seasonals to try along with some more easily accessible brews from around the region.“

“from outside this looked like full size brewpub/brewery a bit like Mill St. in Toronto. sadly this is only a brewery tap room. You can choose around 10 brews as samples or buy beer in bottles to go. You wont be able to eat here and docks beside close very early so come prepared.“

“Small place by docks in new large condo building. I was surprised to see rare Germans beers. They were not cheap but still bought few. Local beers were there but expected more selection. The service was honest and very friendly.“

“Well, I really do like what they did with this place. Very nice, large hall, mix of modern with old. They do offer brewery tours, later you can have taster with special tickets at Red Stag. Service was neutral. Beers were what you would expect from AK.“

“Small place, with average feel. Big bonus was that service was attentive and friendly. Their beers were spot on. Best so far I tried in NB. They provide big tasters which is great when you have 4 barley wines on tap and outside is 30C.“

“Neat place. I went in packing for bottles to take back to a friend’s place I was staying at, got two mixed 6-packs, a 650 ml bottle and a growler. Good selection, help was okay on explaining what was out there but not willing to go beyond, although they were plenty busy with folks stopping by to drink there.“

“Visited on August 7, 2017, in late afternoon and evening. Funky looking brewery and neighborhood pub, with this rebellious robot look. A nice size patio, with fake grass for dogs. There are two entries for the tap room with a mezzanine, plus another one for the store. A small tap selection, mostly their own with a couple of invites and their own are mostly seasonals. What I had with quite interesting. If I Am mistaken, they only have food on the weekends and two different restaurant service them. Service was great, maybe the best on my trip in NS. Being not far from North End, Propeller and Unfiltered, you got yourself a good craft beer crawl!“

“Visited on August 7, 2017, in the afternoon. Located next to the Halifax Farmers Market and a short walk from Pier 21, the building that they are in was part of the sea port complex. The place is a tap room with indoor and outdoor seating, they also have a retail shop but no food on site, there is some restaurants in the Market across the street. Quite a large place, archetypical microbrewery look; fake grunge rebel try to look different fell. Most people were here to try samples, I only went there to buy beer, not much space available to sit down and drink (it was a big weekend). It’s a decent place, more touristy.“

“Visited on August 6, 2017, in the evening. Located in the old Wright Building, a short walk from the Grand Parade in downtown Halifax. Dark garage rock look, with a bit of hypster, a true grungy 21st century beer bar. It’s a order at the bar type place, they do give you a number when you order food, despite that the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The beer selection is mostly from Atlantic Canada, but that day was Trou du Diable Tap Takeover and I’m a guy from the same province than that brewery, but at least there was one from TDD that I did not try. Food selection is quite interesting, not big portions. The Halifax beer place!“

“mixed review. reputation and self promotion as the go-to bar in Atlantic Canada. My favourite was Tide & Boar. one service knew his beer the other did not know styles at all. good but not great number of taps. moderate size. ok bottle menu.extra point for always carrying a cask.“

“Decent food and good service they could offer more flights and a better selection of NS craft beer. They are heavily weighted to Molson Coors products with almost no local beer I hadn’t had before.“

“Stopped in while on a cruise. Great service, limited selection, and decent prices. Nothing too exciting as far as beer goes. I visited the tavern and did not take the tour. Tour seemed a bit pricey. Worth a quick visit.“

“Large selection of beers on tap. All pretty solid. Seating can be dicey. WIFI. We walked up so I don’t know about parking. Staff helpful and knowledgable. Flights only I think. Large selection of bottles also available. Their beers. I would recommend it.“

“Nice selection that ran the full range of beers. WIFI was spotty. Parking was easy we were there on a Monday just after lunch. Us and one other person. The beers were pretty solid no flaws and most done well. Growler fill area and some seating on the side. I would say about 20 spots if memory serves me. I liked the place the beer and the people. I would make it there my next time I’m in the area:)“

“An upscale restaurant north of downtown with a hip feel to the place. Place was dimly lit and had a bit of a rustic industrial feel to it. Service was good and the server knew a bit about the beer. A nice selection of local beers available with a few nice rotators. Food was delicious and prices were reasonable. I was quite impressed, especially with the food.“

“Stayed at the hotel across the street and I was thirsty, so why not. They advertised 60 taps and focused on local craft beer, which was cool. Quite a few Halifax or NS options. Place had a cool vibe, got the feeling like I was in a port town bar from ages ago. Plus, they had MNF on the tube, so I was happy. Seemed like quite a few bars in downtown Halifax, wish I had more time to visit them.“

“This seems to be the go to craft beer bar and Halifax. Clean hip feeling spot with not too much bar seating. Service was good and the bartenders appear to know their beer. 12 taps plus a few casks available and bottles as well. They had stuff on I did not see elsewhere. Did not try the food. Prices seemed in line with the area. A must hit if in the area.“

“A bit of a rundown bar in downtown Halifax with a large bar and plenty of seating. Service was decent if not particularly beer oriented. They had 60 taps (a few were out) and samplers were available. Had the nachos which were pretty good. Prices seemed inline with the area. A pretty standard bar except for the fact that they had 60 taps which seems to set them apart in Halifax. A good spot for a ticker.“

“A taproom/to-go store with a little patio out front and a decent amount of seating and merch inside. Service was good. 8 taps available plus samplers made it easy to work through them. No food available. Prices are in line with the area. Pretty standard taproom.“

“A really cool tap room with an outdoor area, to go shop and bar for indoor seating. They take the robot theme to the extreme! Service was good despite a steady flow of folks. Only of their own 6 beers on tap but samplers available and 3 were sour! Another 5 guest taps as well. Snacks were available but I did not try them. Prices were in line with the area. A unique spot.“

“Went to the Charm School pub next door as this is what they serve their beers out of. A small little spot with kind of a clean industrial feel to the place. Service was a good. 7 of their own taps on plus 2 guest taps. Samplers available. I did not try the food but they had snacks available. Prices were inline with the area. Well worth the stop if you are in the area.“

“I actually went to Charm School (their connecting pub) as the brewery wasnt open yet. Really friendly staff, i kind of expected the service to be shitty given their marketing, but it was great. There was about 6 beer on tap, mostly hoppy stuff, all good.“

“A very good selection of bottled beer ready to go with most available cold. Good prices on these. In brewery atmosphere. Excellent service. I had three beers here and took two to go: all were good or better, with one (Sugar Maple) just outstanding. Some beers only available at the brewery including some only on tap and some only bottled (e.g., the Baltic Porter).“

“Lively, multi-story pub in a historic building that’s in excellent condition. At least 19 beers on tap including 3 hands pulled cask ales. Three brewery-based 4-beer flights are available as well as 13 and 18 oz pours. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Small bars with most people sitting at tables and, at dinner time, having both food and beer. Multi-level outside patio too. “

“A rather spartan, function-first, facility that has room inside for at least 25 people but seems to get most of it’s business from locals getting growlers refilled. They do have bottles to go too. About 8-9 taps working during my visit. Knowledgeable and helpful staff.“

“Upmarket wine shop located at the harbour. Has a reasonable selection of local craft beers and a few well known international ones. Friendly helpful service. OK place and probably as good as it gets in Halifax but not a patch on what I am used to at home.“

“Pretty neat spot in a growing good beer area of the city. Sparsely decorated, kind of scandinavian meets industrial. Small spot. One improvement they could make is to turn up the ambient noise. I could hear the conversations going on around me with no effort. Maybe 10 unfiltered beer on tap with decent range and snack food.“
