86 /100 1853 WINDHAM ROAD 3 Beautiful location on a small rural farm, rooster adding occasional sound effects. Brewhouse is in a quonset hut, 1.5 bbl (I think) system with a bunch of oak barrels. I only saw the brewhouse because staff were kind enough to let us take shelter there from a passing thunderstorm. Outside there's a covered bar in the middle of a field with a half dozen or so stools, and then lots of picnic tables with umbrellas. Five beers on offer, available as a flight if you like, plus some bottles for on site consumption or to take away. Draft beers were all lightly funky and lowish abv, bottled beers higher abv with one spontaneously fermented beer made with whatever yeast was on the Frontenac grapes it contained. Handful of snax available plus weekend food trucks. Friendly staff. Great place. |
76 /100 185 OAKLAND ROAD 2021-09-19. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Patio with a view out over the water (pond?) We sat on the well spaced tables is nice to see in COVID. Friendly servers. Indoor space is much smaller but also nice. 10 beers on tap. Food courtesy of the food truck Tacos vs Ice Cream. Amazing fish tacos, and burnt end beans with sausage. The chicken taco was not great. They were sold out of a couple of other styles that sounded good. I would have like to have tried more beers but we were driving and they were only serving 13-16oz pours, so we grabbed the rest in cans to go. The three beers we tried were all decent, we haven't made it through the cans yet. Hopefully they live up to the initial impression. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. |
76 /100 1853 WINDHAM ROAD 3 2021-09-19. We only had time to get beer to go unfortunately but they have what looks like a great patio area. Well spaced out picnic tables, roaming chickens and a nice bar. I wish we had time to stay and enjoy it. Small retail store is in a bit of Quonset hut style building. Nice spot.
