70 /100 The Dive Gunnison (Restaurant) 213 W TOMICHI AVE I enjoyed my visit, even though I'm not super into the van-inside-a-building food cart concept. For me it was a win because I could try beer from two new-to-me Colorado breweries. And the poutine was respectable and that is saying a ton for the western US. |
48 /100 111 N MAIN STREET Pretty good brews done in house, but nothing blow away. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Ordering food is another story. Waiting for a lunch order for over an hour is unacceptable. We payed for the two beers (which we shouldn't have had to, then walked a few doors down to Ol' Miner and got served in less than 10 minutes). Pizza is good here though. |
84 /100 111 N MAIN STREET High Alpine stands out in Gunnison in a good way. They’ve nailed the rustic-chic atmosphere that we see in many cities with proper beer scenes, not so much in this little mountain town. The old, brick building with wood furnishings happens to make a lot of sense here though. They are a brewpub focusing mainly on pizza for the food. I didn’t get to eat on my visit, but I will make it a point to do so next time. Their oven looks legit. They had around 8 beers of their own on with a good variety of styles. Quality guest taps were also available. I just had the barrel aged imperial stout which was very good. It’s not exactly fair to judge a brewery solely on that one style, so I’m curious to explore their catalog. Beer prices are great, service was super friendly, and it’s very comfortable in here. |
