“Monday, June 20th, 2022. Not that far from Orval in the North East of France (Meuse). 2nd time here. Nice beer museum (history up to 1960's I would say, no modern craft history there or new styles trends. Yes worth the visit. I would have liked some explanations about french styles of beers or bière-de-garde for example. Beerstore next to the bar with maybe 100-150 bottles with nice french micros.“

“(FR-Ardennes retour V2014). Stumbled over this through a poster on a door of a Spanish restaurant in Charleville-Mézière, of all places... Beautifully located in an old malting house inside the old citadel, surrounded by fortified walls and a botanic garden showcasing herbs and plants that have been used for brewing in past ages, complete with a hop, lavendar, absinth/wormwood garden. Museum itself depicts brewing history, specifically of the French Ardennes, on a very complete and lovingly designed 3 levels. Nice collection of old FR/DE/BE bottles and marketing material. Bottle shop with mainly Belgians priced at customary French prices and some regionals such as the commissioned Stenay Ambrée. Taverne offers a nice Orval cheese and local saucisson platter, larger dishes on demand and 4 surprisingly varied local drafts (Charmoy, Graind d’Orge, Kronenbourg Fleuron d’Alsace). Definitely worth a stop or small detour and a potential new center in the new burgeoning French beer culture.“

“Museum dedicated to beer. Decent collection of beer production equipment and beer marketing. Attached pub has a few interesting French beers, the usual Belgian beers.“

“A small store with a little bit of everything - local food, wine, chocolate, and luckily, a small but interesting beer selection. Some Belgian but mostly beers from small breweries in Northern France, such as Ardwen, Vosges, Mont des Cats, Sutter, Charmois and Lorraine. A bit absent service. (Visited July 3rd 2012)“
