38 /100 Old Beams (McMullens) (Bar) PAXTON CRESCENT Note: pre lockdown visit. I've visited this pub a few times, as it's part way through the long walk back from the town centre to my brother's house. It's been created.out of the remains of an older pub that partially burnt down, and the rebuild complete with large extension has been done rather nicely; it's actually quite attractive, with a hint of medieval barn about both the exterior and interior. It's owned by McMullen's, and only stocks beers from them (quite a limited selection). Other McMullen's pubs I've been to have been ok, but this one seems to miss the mark; on each occasion I've visited the cask beer has been in terrible condition and the staff have been somewhere between surly and downright rude. Poor - one to avoid until McMullen's get decent staff and cellar management training. |
66 /100 Old Beams (McMullens) (Bar) PAXTON CRESCENT Better than some other pubs in the area but tends to only have a couple of real ales on tap. Good if you’re local though. |
