80 /100 Bhurtpore Inn (Bar) WRENBURY ROAD, Excellent country pub that has been selling a fine range of beers for at least 25 years to my knowledge. It's a sprawling multi room place inside, with a big beer garden out the back. Cask, keg and real ciders available plus Belgian bottles too. Bit of a trek to get here but it's worth it! |
78 /100 Bhurtpore Inn (Bar) WRENBURY ROAD, Visited on 13th August 2016. A 10 minute walk through country lanes from Wrenbury station this venue has been a good beer guide staple for years. It’s quite an extensive place with lots of rooms and a huge garden to the rear. Inside the beers are displayed on screens and there’s a good mix of local and micros from across the UK plus a decent cider and perry range. The beer was well kept and well priced, service was good. It is well known for the food but didn’t eat here on this occasion. A great pub and one of the best in Cheshire. |
76 /100 Bhurtpore Inn (Bar) WRENBURY ROAD, Great country pub in a tiny Cheshire village accessible by road or a request train stop. And even then there is no footpath - you can cross a field there or walk the road round. As others have said there is usually a large range of cask and keg, all kept impeccably well. The bottle selection is extensive with a large range of Belgian and some ’craft’ newcomers. Also stocks cider from local producers Wrenbury Cider. Large beer garden. If negotiating the country lanes in this part of the country a stop at The (legendary) Bhurtpore Inn is compulsory. |
92 /100 Bhurtpore Inn (Bar) WRENBURY ROAD, Brilliant selection of UK ales on draft, ever changing, with a great as well as decent pilsners. Bottle selection of continental beer is impressive too. Staff are friendly and informative. The food is great, whether picking from the menu or the specials the food is great! Curries are a must, change regularly and never disappoint. Decor is as expected in a countryside pub at the bar, with modern expansions (in the vernacular) to accommodate the dinners, with lots of paraphernalia relating to the pub, brewing and of course Bhurtpore. Large beer garden at the rear, it has a beer festival in the summer with well looked after and large selection to try. |
78 /100 Bhurtpore Inn (Bar) WRENBURY ROAD, One of the best places to eat curry and drink an excellent pint of real beer. Good selection on tap, and a pleasant atmosphere. |
82 /100 Bhurtpore Inn (Bar) WRENBURY ROAD, A real gem of a pub in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. Named in commemoration of a local landowner, Lord Combermere, who was involved in a battle in the town of the same name in Northern India. The Summer beer festival is well worth a visit with many beers available but you will find several guest beers and a good selection of foreign bottled beers all the year round. Great food here too, particularly if you are a curry fan. |
78 /100 Bhurtpore Inn (Bar) WRENBURY ROAD, This pub has been in Simon George’s family for years. He runs it with aplomb and although it unashamedly aims at the "food" market (with excellent results!) the beer is not neglected with 10 beers on at most times. Hanby bitter is the house beer with around ten guests from far and wide and a beer festival is held in July each year with loads of winners on parade. The pub also sells a large range of Benelux beers with a well presented list and various rarities; a cracking all round good pub run superbly. |
