66 /100 Queens Head (Bar) 1 BREACH ROAD It's not the epitome of a beery pub but you can still find a decent if small collection at the Queens Head. It's a fairly big pub and very popular on Friday evening, and rightly so. The beer is good with Peak Ales, Pheasantry and Blue Monkey cask beers, and Thornbridge Green Mountain and ABK on keg. Prices are that little more than the rest of the area but by no means expensive (I paid £2 for a half of a 5.6% pale). It's just a 30 second walk from the Marlpool Brewpub (which is probably where you're headed) but the Queens Head may be worth a stop. Fish and chip van every other Friday. |
78 /100 5 BREACH ROAD This is an incredibly popular place to the point of full capacity on an early Friday evening. Make no mistake: this pub is very small. It's old-fashioned traditional to the hilt, and they offer six beers: three from the Marlpool Brewery and three guests. The Marlpool beer I had was good if mega-traditional. It certainly goes down well with the good people of Marlpool (and me)! Note: cash only, but the Post Office down the road should be able to oblige. |
