50 /100 BUCKFAST ABBEY,
“In the gift shop next to the car park at Buckfast Abbey, they have a fair selection of monastic brews from Belgium, which most people will be familiar with, but there was a German Wheat I wasn't familiar with that was available too, which surprised me as it had nothing to do with the Abbey and Trappist theme that was going on here.“

48 /100 TOTNES ROAD
“Just off the Devon Expressway at Buckfastleigh, on it's leafy eastern side though, not in the town. This large pub in its own building is separated from the river dart only by the main road to Totnes and has a large car park at its side. Inside it's open plan with the bar in the middle of the front facing room. Traditional in style, the focus here is on food and general filling fayre is on the chain style menu. As such ales take a second place here and you'll probably only find several regular brews from Greene King here such as Abbott or IPA.“

60 /100 TOTNES ROAD
“Large roadside pub, quite modern feel inside, does rooms and big food menu etc. Friendly enough, a touch soulless. Four casks, couple of standards and one local, plus usual kegs for lagers. Nothing special to see here.“

68 /100 BUCKFAST ABBEY,
“Buckfast Abbey is home to the infamous Tonic Wine colloquially known as Bucky. We happened to be driving past so thought it might be worth out while visiting. There are actually 2 separate shops on this site - one near the entrance and another directly in front of the abbey. The one near the entrance only sells a few local ales and ciders (as well as the tonic wine). The far better shop is around the corner is the "Monastic Shop". They sell a comprehensive range of monastic beers from Belgium, Germany & the UK. Selection includes Chimay, Achel, Rochefort, Andechs etc. They also have the UK equivalent – Ampleforth. In addition there is merchandise for the aforementioned breweries and plenty of other intoxicating beverages such as wine, brandy and liqueurs. They also over a range of foodstuffs and other items produced by monks. A very pleasant surprise all in all.“
