Food was delicious and very accommodating of my 3 year old. The kids meals are great. |
78 /100 Hops and Crafts (Beer Store) MCCOYS ARCADE, FORE STREET Small beer shop at the front of the arcade. Friendly knowledgeable service. Great selection of beers |
68 /100 Imperial (JDW) (Bar) NEW NORTH ROAD Great looking Spoons. Make sure you go yo the very end with one wall completely made out of glass and iron. Lots of taps and some boced ciders. Best Spoons in Exeter. |

70 /100 Samuel Jones (St. Austell) (Restaurant) 37 COMMERCIAL ROAD A converted warehouse pub close to the River Exe. Cosy inside. Food is a big part of the offering here. The beer range is the usual St Austell range, I had a decent pint of Proper Job. It'll never be a tickers destination but it's a nice pub all the same. |
76 /100 1-2 MACLAINES WAREHOUSE, HAVEN ROAD Atmospheric taproom in an old stone barn next to the river. Doing brisk business late on a Saturday afternoon. 3 cask plus 8-10 keg lines pouring, a decent range available of mostly local beers (not all from the brewery itself). I saw some tasty looking pizzas coming out of the kitchen. |
78 /100 25 PARIS STREET Nice place with a friendly atmosphere. Around 10 keg lines pouring, some local and some from further afield. Fair selection of cans & bottles in the fridge. |
66 /100 Little Drop of Poison (Bar) 154 FORE STREET Nice pub in the lower half of town. Fair range of local beers. But not so many customers late on a Saturday afternoon. |
76 /100 Hops and Crafts (Beer Store) MCCOYS ARCADE, FORE STREET MrsSHIG suggested we stop at a few beer stores on the way back from our Cornwall holiday trip. This one was one that caught our eye, although the owner had to come in a little late it was worth the wait. Lots of selection to choose from, found half dozen new breweries and few regional ticks I needed more of. A must stop if near Exeter. |
76 /100 1-2 MACLAINES WAREHOUSE, HAVEN ROAD Visited July 2019. |
62 /100 Oddfellows (Bar) 60 NEW NORTH ROAD Reviewing from memory (5 years ago!) and looking at BlackHaddocks review to try and stimulate my brain. Mini pub crawl before the Exeter v Grimsby match Saturday 11th Nov 2017. I can't remember what was drunk but this was very stylish with a food area towards the back. |
52 /100 Old Fire House (Bar) 50 NEW NORTH ROAD Reviewing from memory (5 years ago!) and looking at BlackHaddocks review to try and stimulate my brain. Mini pub crawl before the Exeter v Grimsby match Saturday 11th Nov 2017. I can't remember what was drunk but I remember it all being flat/off. Maybe just an off day? I don't know. Place is lovely however, old fashioned, lots of wood, nice ambience and a nice outdoor seating area. I need to visit again to give a fair review. |
68 /100 Beer Cellar (Bar) 2 SOUTH STREET Visited on Saturday 11th Nov 2017 before the Exeter v Grimsby Town game with Blackhaddock. Small quirky place with a decent selection of beer. Small glass box kind of building with friendly staff. Will definitely pop in again next time we're in Devon. |

80 /100 38 SOUTH STREET Called while visiting Exeter for th beer festival, and enjoyed a wander round this converted chapel with it's upstairs galleries, and amazing pulpit. The Salcombe Shingles Bay went down well. |

80 /100 Imperial (JDW) (Bar) NEW NORTH ROAD Called in while visiting Exeter for the beer festival, and it was extremely busy so we couldn't get a proper look round. Service was quick though, and we enjoyed both our food and the beers from Hunter and South Hams breweries. |

76 /100 25 PARIS STREET Very interesting bottle shop and taproom called Cuckoo. Board giving details of the beers available and could purchase thirds. 80 /100 Beer Cellar (Bar) 2 SOUTH STREET I was driving so just grabbed some bottles of unusual beers to take home, this place is really a bar with a reasonable draft & bottled beers served. They have a small selection of really unusual bottles like the 4 bottles of Icelandic beers in a display they took apart for me.

70 /100 BrewDog Exeter (Bar) UNIT 21A GUILDHALL SHOPPING CENTRE New BrewDog bar situated in a busy thoroughfare within the Guildhall Shopping Centre. Close to Exeter Central station but walkable from Exeter St Davids (around 20 mins). Outside seating both under cover and open to the elements. The inside isn't open yet so I only had a quick peek, it seems to be the typical urban chic inside. Beer menu dominated by Brewdog' own beers, with around 5 or 6 guest beers. Large beer fridge for other options & takeaways. Tasty burgers with vegan options available |
80 /100 Hops and Crafts (Beer Store) MCCOYS ARCADE, FORE STREET Bottle-shop offering a friendly welcome in Exeter. The range is decent, a mix of local and not so local beers available. Prices are OK. They also sell online. Recommended |
94 /100 Little Drop of Poison (Bar) 154 FORE STREET One of my favourite places to drink in Exeter. A good selection of beers with lots of local beers as well as the staples and even Duvel white. The barman knew what he was doing and the beer was fairly priced. Such a shame that the locals don't appreciate this place. |
76 /100 1-2 MACLAINES WAREHOUSE, HAVEN ROAD A nice spot in a nice location. The beer is a little expensive but not too much. The beer is all very yeasty and overall quite flat, I recommend you try airship and before you try the beer ask for a sample which the barman was happy to do for us. There's not a great selection but still not bad. The pies are nice. |
20 /100 1-2 MACLAINES WAREHOUSE, HAVEN ROAD Visited this place for the second time on 5/10/19. The bar is housed in an old warehouse on Exeter Quay. There are around four cask ales and four keg. The two beers I tried (one from the Topsham brewery, the other from Tiny Rebel) were completely flat, just as they had been on my first visit.
The barmaid who served us was utterly charmless, giving me my change without a smile or a thank you. I won't be rushing back. |
80 /100 Imperial (JDW) (Bar) NEW NORTH ROAD Visited on 28th Sep 2019, before Grimsby Town won 3-1 at St James's Park. Impressed, full of students, but that's not a problem when they are quiet. Loved the 'Orangery' and liked all the other rooms too. Only two cask rates for me though, so a little disappointing on that front. Staff pleasant, beer quality fine and overall, one of the best Wetherspoon pubs I have been in. Outside looked good too, but it was honking down with rain, so we stayed inside. |

Nice selection of beers, served in ok condition. They do nice coffees as well. You are welcome to bring you own food and eat that along with the beer.. Nice concept.. |
72 /100 City Gate Pub & Hotel (Bar) IRON BRIDGE, LOWER NORTH STREET Visited July 2019. And my first place review in Devon.. short walk from the station. Nice cosy town pub with at large lovely beer garden. Friendly service, beers mainly from Youngs since being a Young pub. Nice start of the day.. |
64 /100 Iron Bridge Inn (Bar) 11 IRON BRIDGE This is a single roomed boozer on the route back to Exeter St Davids Railway Station. A locals pub with half a dozen hand pumps serving real ales. Worth a look in when passing by. |
52 /100 Little Drop of Poison (Bar) 154 FORE STREET This proved to be a really quiet, quite club-like pub in the lower part of town. Only us in there during our visit, no hand pumps in operation, looks like they struggle to get regular trade. Struggling somewhat. |
78 /100 Pig & Pickle (Bar) 38 FORE STREET Nice place in the outskirts of Exeter. 25 minute walk from the center of Exeter. Nice selection of locals and national good quality beers. Worth a visit. |
70 /100 Beer Cellar (Bar) 2 SOUTH STREET Nice place in centre of Exeter. Selection of locals and nationals. They do thirds, but prices are halves. Good quality beers here. |
74 /100 Pig & Pickle (Bar) 38 FORE STREET Visited 13/7/2019. Nice micro pub, good service, very friendly crowd, decent beer selection. Worth a visit for sure. |
64 /100 38 SOUTH STREET Visited 13/7/2019. Decent ‘spoons, in a lovely setting which no doubt would have gone to disrepair had it not been for JDW’s and for that this chain is to be applauded. Decent Saturday night crowd (attracts a very different clientele to their other one in town). Beer choice was a bit limited. Service was fine. If you want a ‘spoons in Exeter this is the one to go to. |
