“This micropub in Barnard Castle is a must for real ale lovers It is closed Mondays but opens every other day 4pm and 2pm Fri Sat Sun. Bar downstairs with a good seletion and a room upstairs. We stayed a while on 20 July as there were some good beers to enjoy. Tirril Windermere pale ale, Tirril Eden Valley pale ale, McColls Petite Belgique, 3 Piers King Orry, and Taylor Illingworth Coal Yard were all enjoyed and we were sad that a Roundhill beer had just finished as we got there. Friendly staff and locals.“

“Enjoyed our visit here on 20 July with good beers. Settle Blonde, Mithril Hop with her head, and Consett English Pale Ale were enjoyed here. I was hoping to get some Barnard Castle Brewery beers here, but none on at the time, but they directed me to the brewery where I found out where I could get some bottles. This Good Beer Guide pub is well worth a visit when in the area.“

“Town centre pub, but parking is not far away. A good selection of local ales. Definitely worth going if you’re in the area.“

“Opened out and with brutal additions to the back of this pub, makes it large but a little cold. The service is sparce, but really it is the only Real Ale pub worth visiting in this beer desert of a town. If you find yourself in Barnard Castle, this is the one choice currently.“
