| 96 /100 29, SPRING STREET, TYBURNIA “Craft Beer Co’s latest addition to its growing estate. A tremendous amount of thought has gone into the design of its interior, and seemingly no expense has been spared on detail. A basement room known as the Den can be hired out. This very comfortable pub is situated metres from Paddington station, and does everything Peter and Martin are renowned for. A comprehensive keg and cask range, plus a fair number of spirits, wines and champagnes are purveyed in these plush surroundings, supplemented by a legendary burger menu. I’ve paid two memorable visits, the second with a friend who was equally taken. Recommended“ |

| 80 /100 29, SPRING STREET, TYBURNIA “A really welcome addition to a rather dull beer part of Greater London. A corner, medium sized place with a L-shaped serving bar and room. Altogether 35 draught beers, including six cask ales. They all can be served in 1/3 pint measures. Many of their beers came from London breweries. Good range of craft beers on cans in the fridge as well. Burger options. Friendly service. A small patio in front of the entrance. Quite popular early on a Thursday afternoon. We enjoyed our stay with great background music from Undertones, Simple Minds, Oasis, Madness, and Waterboys. We took the Elizabeth line from Heathrow to Paddington and walked right up to The Bear, very convenient, and just the right way to start our stay in London for the weekend. This One's tucked away a little bit in a mino-shopping area off Edgware Road; you may not find it if you're not looking for it. It's bigger than it looks from outside, with a surprising amount of seating at the back. The beer selection is excellent with many more guests than your average BrewDog. The likes of Pomona Island, Buxton and Upland were featured. Please note that the draught choices here are incredibly expensive, even for a London BrewDog in 2022. There are a few bottles and cans to take away that will break the bank even more, but it's nice to have the added choice. Can be missed but it's certainly a decent example of the chain.“ |

So tired I probably had a Goodyear imprint on my forehead. But we must tick on, as Tickston Churchill once said in the face of the evil Germans threatening to impose the Reinheitsgebot on everyone, oh and also like slaughter everyone and put the world under a brutal murderous dictatorship and stuff. Beer selection is theoretically decent but they only had two real ales on when I was there! Also a few average tap beers. Food is fine, prices are typical, 'biance is chill. A place to tick if you're in the'hood, but don't fly to London just for this.“ |

And this is an old traditional pub. It is just…..sorry to say…but this one was not really cousy, like many of the other traditional English pubs. Not to bad bad beer selection. But some cans or bottles from the new wave of british brewing would help A LOT.

They were the usual suspects: Abbot Ale, Landlords and two of Sambrooks’. Which meant that I had to have my masculinity questioned by ordering a pint of red berry cider served in a stemmed glass in order to get a new rating. Food was good and served quickly. Busy on a Sunday evening.“ |

There's 3 ale pumps offering up something from notable microbreweries with a greater craft keg selection, although perhaps a little limited in scope. There's a fair number of bottles and cans too.“ |

It's behind the old Football Association building at Lancaster Gate, is a traditional corner pub with a heavy wooden design, with its main seating against its two window sides, and the bar against the back wall that has mostly Youngs ales, but it also had Truman Brewery guests on both cask and keg available on my visit. Fairly tourist heavy.“ |

It must work as this place stank of fish and chips when I walked in, with every table occupied by tourist families in what looked like a complete car crash of a pub. There is a bar in here somewhere, it does have a row of cask ales, but all regulars you see in many places up and down the country.“ |
| 68 /100 Victoria (Fuller’s) (Bar) 10 STRATHEARN PLACE “Just a couple of streets north of Hyde Park on the Eastern side of Lancaster Gate station, this urban corner pub is a very pleasant Fullers pub, but with very little room on the inside. The bar takes up a lot of the middle ground, with its flanks the only space for tables. Tables on the outside against its wall provide a nice outdoor space for drinking or dining as they have heat lamps. It's plush traditional on the inside with mostly Fullers cask and keg ales on offer.“ |

Its keg offerings are macro, and Greene King ales dominated the pumps on my visit (and there's at least 3 Greene King pubs flanking the roads around Paddington Station). In a decent enough looking prefab building at the end of platform 10, I guess it does offer a warm spot to wait in the winter. The bar on the right does have a fridge with a number of craft brewed bottles and cans, but I still failed to spot anything new for myself.“ |

| 54 /100 Green Man (Bar) 308 EDGWARE RD “This place, right next to the northernmost entrance to Edgware Road tube station was being done up in the summer of 2017 when I the last tried to get in, so had a bit more success second time around. It wasn't quite worth two efforts though, with just two cask ales available off a line of half a dozen pumps, the keg ales were nothing to shout about, but it does have a few bottles as a back up. Sadly the beer was not quite as well kept as it could have been. It's a traditional establishment with a mainly wooden decor and furniture and friendly enough. There's a hostel being run by the pub too.“ |

The bar against the back wall runs much of the length of the pub and does include a guest ale or two in cask and keg alongside the regular ones you find in London from this brewer.“ |

The look of the place compliments this with a somewhat chain appearance to this Badger pub. It serves a selection of its own ales on cask, with its bottles here too. There's a lot of hotels in the area and I got the impression the place was frequented mostly by visitors, some looking to indulge in the food available here. There's a lovely garden area you have to walk through to get into the pub.“ |

Nicely done up inside with different beer-themed zones, the feel is more bar-restaurant than pub. A dozen or so keg taps with an above-average range for a chain bar, plus 4 real ales on handpump. Not cheap, but neither is the area these days.“ |

| 68 /100 Victoria (Fuller’s) (Bar) 10 STRATHEARN PLACE “Visited many times over the years. A Fuller’s pub with a long history and plenty of genuine historical and architectural interest. They have 5 or 6 handpumps - mainly Fuller’s, including the current seasonals / specials, but usually with a guest (but don’t expect anything too exciting). It’s a regular entry in the Good Beer Guide is something of a flagship pub for Fullers. The (cask) beer is invariably in very good condition. It’s the closest decent pub to Paddington staion, although bear in mind that Fuller’s do have a serviceable pub inside the station these days so that will probably suffice if you just want the beers and aren’t so worried about the atmosphere. The back street location means it has less tourist footfall / passing trade than some others in the area and, consequently, a more authentic pubby atmosphere. There are so many decent pubs in London these days that I wouldn’t make a special trip but it’s a worthwhile stop if you’re in the area. And, if you’re new to the UK and want to try a range of Fuller’s beers in central London, this is as good as any - although I prefer the Star in Belgravia as a pub.“ |

This place is an interesting combination: beer bar with take-out growlers, flower shop, coffee shop, pizza restaurant. I came on a Friday night, having booked a table, for pizza and beer. The place was busy, and all the tables seemed to be in use. The beer selection is not bad. It’s not a hyper progressive range, but you will find stuff from the likes of Beavertown, Fourpure, Five Points, spread across kegs and bottles. Pretty average prices on the beers. The pizza is very good, with an intimidating selection of ingredients - there were a lot of specialist toppings that we needed to have explained. This place also had pool and foosball tables - not something often found, I’d say. Efficient and very friendly service. Overall, I liked the place. It’s not somewhere I would come specifically for the beer, but if you are in the Paddington area and you want a good beer (Beavertown Neck Oil, for example) and/or a high quality pizza, this place will meet your needs.“ |

Has large welcoming windows, inside the decor us ok, has a lot of tables packed in and a muddled feel. Greene King supply most of the beer but did pick up a Portobello seasonal and a Madness collab. Beer was in decent condition, prices steep. Bit of a tourist trap and one I’m not planning to rush back to.“ |

It’s a rather large Taylor Walker pub with a L-shaped room and bar located on a corner just a few minutes to the left when walking out of the Paddington train station and on the other side of the hospital. Certainly hit the spot - it’s a gem of an old pub. Beer choices weren’t that interesting, but decent being Fuller’s. However wasn’t quite so taken by the atmosphere. It was very business. I.e. people in suits on lunch and some IT guy holding a business meeting. A few people out for pub crawl did not fit in. So we did the specially prepared quiz and went to meet some London based colleagues.“ |
