“Visited St Georges Day 2022 - yet another Antic owned pub ticked off ✅ can find this located on the corner of the High Street and start of Croydon Road. Nice looking old pub from the outside and inside has that "Antic" vibe with the period furniture and furnishings, staff friendly, prices ok - decent range of cask and tap offerings and has a great pub beer garden as well. Not an essential visit but good to build into a Penge/Crystal Palace crawl.“

“Visited St Georges Day 2022 - pretty easy to find location of the main high street. Well presented spoons with friendly staff and a good cask selection, picked up 2 cask ticks here and both were in good condition, overall one of the better spoons. Not a must visit but can build in visits to quite a few other spots further up towards Penge West/Crystal Palace.“

“Visited with JFE on leg 10 of the Green Chain Walk 01.10.22. A decent Spoons with a large beer garden at the back with beautiful flowers. Incredibly cheap prices and friendly service.“

“Visited April with beery friends. Easy to find though it's behind from the main street. Lots of nice street paintings on the way to this place. Nice selection of their own beers. Friendly service.“

“Visited April 2022 with beery friends. Went there for breakfast, start of a great pub crawl, first one in a long time. Good size of JDW, clean quiet bar and a friendly service from the staff. Lots of seating and easy to find. Nice breakfast and a couple of beers. Seems the place often make tap take overs..“

“Visited last Friday. When I was in Southey's tap I sent my sister-in-law a photo and she asked if I wanted to meet for a coffee. Clearly that would have been detrimental to ticking so I said I was heading our of the area and then walked down the road to this place. I wad just talking to the two guys on the bar (I.e. I was tipsy so just butted in) when a voice behind me announced, "There's my brother-in-law. I thought you were heading off?!." So I offered a round of drinks. This place should please people - I had beers from Beak and Azvex - but another place that did not have the local beers I was really after. A micropub and bottleshop so a good array. Was pretty bus as it was now gone 16:00. “

“I'd been meaning to visit this place for a whole but we tend to visit my sister-in-law in nearby Sydenham on days it's not open. I checked the map on my phone as I turned the corner as it was seemingly a residential side street. However there is a an alley/glorified service road behind the shops on your right and the brewery and tap are down it. However I still kinda had doubts because apart from a few tables the bar doesn't obviously advertise itself - I hoped the door I was opening was the right one. It was and entered a warm but ramshackle top room, which was the busiest place I'd been to that day. The two women on the bar were a bit short with me buy by that point I was a tad tipsy so they have (not entirely inaccurately) written me off a sick. 6 + of Southey's beers on both cask and keg. I ended up sitting outside. A toddler wondered over and I ended up chatting to the parents for a while before deciding to head onward. Nice place other than the frosty staff.“

“Had not been to Penge for many years so was great to go visit this establishment which I did back in early December 2021. Easy to find, it's a bit closer to West Penge Train Station but still pretty close via East Penge Train Station as well if you were coming from there. A fairly modest size on entering there is a seating area and then a bar with 10 taps on your left and loads of fridges on the right. Being a untappd verified menu could see the Tap list looked really impressive before arriving and it was, beers available in 3 different size pours. Fine to drink the beers from the fridges on site, and there was also food available. Bar guy was knowledgeable and friendly, prices decent and can happily recommend. Well worth a visit.“

“New to penge, Autumn 2019. 7 or 8 taps (keg) dispensing decent beers from a range of (mostly London) micros. A worthy addition to the penge beer scene.“
