52 /100 Goldengrove (JDW) (Bar) 146-148 THE GROVE, Visited late morning of Saturday 25th March 2023 - not too far from Stratford Station, a pretty small spoons it has to be said and was surprisingly rammed at around 11am, big queue at the bar and pretty slow service at the time. Was just here for a couple of the JDW Spring fest ticks which I managed to get, overall not a destination by any means, and would not recommend Saturday mornings at least :) |
78 /100 Mother Kelly's E20 (Bar) 27-30 VICTORY PARADE, EAST VILLAGE Visited August 2022. Placed behind the shopping center, can be a bit tricky to find. Once you find it, you will enjoy the great atmosphere and friendly service.
Lots of seatings inside as outside. Great selection of beers, both on tap as bottles / cans. Served in good condition. They are doing nice cheese / ham boards. |

54 /100 King Edward VII (Bar) 47 BROADWAY Small nice cozy bar with nice music. Alas not that many interesting beers. No casks in summertime. 2 Beavertown tabs + 9 other not intersting . Had a new Bulmers cider though. |
64 /100 Goldengrove (JDW) (Bar) 146-148 THE GROVE, Standard weaterspoon. Nice service. The normal 9 tabs (incl one cider) and 10 casks with 2 specials. |
62 /100 Goldengrove (JDW) (Bar) 146-148 THE GROVE, Our pub crawl in the eastern part of London, from Stratford, via Hackney to Bethnal Green started with a traditional breakfast at this one-roomed, old JDW. A bit worn down, but quite charming, furniture interiors. Large outdoor seating to the rear. Ten cask ales. Attentive, and friendly service. Corner location a bit outside the modern station area in Stratford. (Visited with Finn 17.11.2021). |
60 /100 Goldengrove (JDW) (Bar) 146-148 THE GROVE, Large old-fashioned ´spoons with a couple of local beers. 10 min. Walk from the station. |
68 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Visit many times. |
64 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Great gaff in the shopping center... |
66 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY At the far end of the shopping mall. My second time here. Open space, chesterfield sofas and barstools. 6 cask beers, ciders bag-in-a-box, many drafts and broad bottle selection. Their own beers are sold as three 1/3rds for 3£. A place to return to if you got plenty of time, worth an initial visit for sure. |
64 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Brewpub on the edge of the Westfield Shopping Centre, had to walk through to find it. It’s possibly a welcome watering hole for weary shoppers but I wasn’t that impressed. Around 10 beers on including 2 or 3 of the breweries own beers. Service & quality of beers was average. Wouldn’t rush back |
68 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY A hide away from the noise, expense and occasional gang fight in the shopping centre it's attached too. Relaxing environment, good service, nice range of beers. Maybe not a place to seek out in its own right, but if the family insists on shopping at Westfield then it's a great way to ease the pain. |
66 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Located at the end of train station and a new shopping mall installed for 2014 Olympics. Zero atmosphere therefore, maybe better when its sunny and a afternoon. Selection is ok, but they ran out of their own beers unfortunately. Service was very friendly and helpful. Some good bottles as well, scored a KBS for example (for a whopping 13 bucks though). Its ok when in the neighbourhood, but London has so much more to offer. |
66 /100 Goldengrove (JDW) (Bar) 146-148 THE GROVE, Very small older Spoons, beer choice was quite interesting, quality was above average and it was well worth checking out. |
74 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Weird to find this at the end of a trek through a huge shopping complex, but well worth it. 6 cask and 10 keg with over 100 bottles, and the selection was very decent. Well worth the visit. |
70 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY This is seriously located in a shopping mall. Don't let the shops nearby distract you, this is a seriously nice place! A nice taplist with fairly priced beers, some casks, and a good amount of bottled beer. Worth the walk through the shopping mall if you're in the area! |
70 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY It’s a bar in a shopping center, it shouldn’t be good but it is! Nice selection of tap beers including their own casks and a very decent bottle selection to back it up. Not very knowledgeable service though. Nice place and would definitely return! |
36 /100 Goose (Bar) 78-102 BROADWAY Big bar, nice sitting groups. Counted 41 taps and about 15 beers in fridge. Mostly standard and poor selection, found only one new beer. Nice sitting place outdoor. This place had changed name now but do not remember new name. Old Goose signs where still in place inside the bar.
Visited 26.06.2016 |
28 /100 King Edward VII (Bar) 47 BROADWAY 14 on tap, about 10 bottles. Mostly standard beer, bad selection. One of very few places I just left withour buying any beer.

40 /100 Goldengrove (JDW) (Bar) 146-148 THE GROVE, Nice interiour, counted 30 taps (around 15 different) and about 25 bottles. Nice place to sit outside when the wether allows that.

62 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY This brewpub is located inside the Straford shopping senter. They have 16 taps (4 own) and about 50 bottles and a very good selection of good beer. in additon to nice place to sit inside there is also nice outdor places to enjoy a good beer when the wether allows it. This will not be my last visit. The servcie was excelent. From outside you can see directly in to the brewery with tanks and everything. Visited 26.06.2016. |
62 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Rather bizarre place, in the corner of Westfield shopping centre. Has about 15 taps, including beers brewed on site. Gets a real mix of customers. |
68 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Odd sort of place with it being part of the shopping centre. Bit disappointing that there were only 3 of the brewery’s own beers on. |
52 /100 Goldengrove (JDW) (Bar) 146-148 THE GROVE, Relatively inoffensive. Not much on tap but what they had seemed well kept. |
74 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Been here a few times. It’s a bit traumatic to wander through Westfield to get here but it’s worth it. Usually have 3 Tap East brews plus guests from far and wide.
It’s a small place so seating can be limited but there is room outside as well.
I’ve not had a bad beer here, staff are generally friendly and helpful.
Like the place and a good starting point to set off along the North London line for a Craft Beer crawl |
42 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Small brewpub in huge trade center. Light & Dark - nothing to talk about. |
82 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Visited the Saturday before Christmas - consequently, there were scenes of panicked shopping on display in Westfield - scenes to chill the spine. The bar was nice, with a good range of ales and bottles. The service was friendly and helpful. Worth a quick stop off for sure. |
74 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Nice little bar hidden away in a shopping centre. On my visit maybe 6 casks and 10 kegs, friendly staff. |
72 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY A nice little place in the mall. Comfortable and decent service with a dozen plus taps and some bottles. They have their own beers as well. Not bad, especially if you want to do some shopping. |
82 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Maybe not the most exciting place to look at from the outside, but it was a great surprise to find this in the vast shopping zoo it is attached to. Not overy freindly staff the day I was in, but we managed to sample a few good choices. If you have to go to the mall, it is a must stop |
68 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY really good little pub in a place that you wouldn’t expect to find one while the wife does the shopping i can park here. they have a really good selection of beers both in bottles and on tap |
80 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Very nice place with a decent tap and good bottle selection, Unfortunately they only had 3 of there own beers on tap when I visited in December. Looking forward to visiting again next time im in Stratford. |
84 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Just realised I beer rated this place although I visited several times now. The place is clean, new, cool looking with a nice layout and a good vibe. Some sofas make for a relaxing stay and choice on tap is wide in styles and breweries. They have c. 6 casks and 8 kegs mostly focused on UK micro. They usually have 4-5 of their casks on which are always fresh and spot on. Nice selection of kernel, partizan and cantillon in bottles, among others. Breweries on tap range from UK to US to Belgium, with the likes of Waen, Caveman, Siren, Harbour, de la Senne, Freogeist, Brooklin, Victory. They also a give a very cool anniversary party with loads of casks and one off collabs. All in all a very cool place to spend an evening. |
80 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Very cool place. Cool beer tap plates all over the wall and bar area. Great bottle selection and a good selection on tap including 3 of their own cask ales. Service is friendly and efficient. Can also recommend which I always like. Solid value. Really good place and will be back for sure |
58 /100 Goose (Bar) 78-102 BROADWAY A large pub that is part of the shopping centre with an exterior rather than interior entrance. At first glance you might think you’re in a Wetherspoon pub as the warm carpet with sturdy wooden furniture and fixtures appearance makes it look similar, and the long bar against one wall also suggests there is a high volume of people using this place. It’s not got as many real ale pumps as a Wetherspoon but there was a choice of three ales on my visit. Has food and wi-fi. |
58 /100 Goldengrove (JDW) (Bar) 146-148 THE GROVE, A familiar looking older Wetherspoon just past the central shopping centre with a darker wood furniture on a warming carpet. It serves both shoppers and locals and can get fairly busy at times with the usual set of menu and drinks, there are a couple of rows of real ale pumps here. There’s also a rear garden area if the traditional pub look gets too much. |
66 /100 King Edward VII (Bar) 47 BROADWAY Known as King Eddies, this is one of the better real ale options in the town centre and faces the shopping centre albeit from across the very wide churchyard and road. It’s a true old inn with a very dark wooden decor including a low ceiling making it a very cosy place to sup. The saloon bar at the rear is a little bigger than the front area and there’s also a rear garden accessible from here too. There’s a row of real ale pumps that included beer from Yorkshire, Gloucestershire and the Midlands when I was there so it seems they rotate an eclectic mix. Food is served here. |
86 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY I love the rake and utobeer as a company. So when I heard they had opened a brewpub I had to visit. What I wasn’t convinced about though was that it was in a shopping mall. To get here I had to go through the mall which was quite annoying, but when I got there the atmosphere was very relaxed, friendly and pleasant. Service was great with friendly smiling bar man. And the ambience wasn’t bad at all considering it’s in a mall. Very very neat clean and tidy place which made a nice changed to stuffy old London pubs. Well worth the visit! Oh and their own beers are quite good and very very reasonably priced! |
74 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY A very nice place and a very laid back atmosphere, at least on a Wednesday afternoon. Maybe the shopping mall location isn’t the nicest, but at least the Great Eastern Market seems fairly nice for a mall thing. Unfortunately the selection wasn’t too good when I visited. Only two of their own on tap, and five or six others. Not sure why so many taps were empty. Or maybe I just wasn’t looking. |
72 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY We visited here on Friday 17th May 2013, it was relatively close to London City Airport where we we heading. It was very easy to find, we sort of stumbled across it when exiting the station. My first impression was that it was much smaller than I expected, but it was well laid out with a nice selection of stools, high tables and comfy sofas. The beer choice was as one might expect very good witha Japanese Imperial IPA and a couple of good beers from Oakham on when we arrived and service also decent. Despite all of the positives I didn’t like it as much as I expected I would. The large screen TV which no one watched but everyone had to endure was a bit of an annoyance but other than that I am not really sure quite what it was that didn’t quite appeal to me, maybe the location, but on reflection having a bar selling great beer somewhere like this can only be a positive, maybe I should just give it another go perhaps? |
78 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY The setting, on the edge of a shopping mall makes a pleasant change from all the olde worlde pubs! A modern brew pub whose beers can be very good, it also has many guest beers, domestic/foreign, cask/keg and many bottles too. A sister pub of the famous Rake pub in Borough Market. Also sells foreign beer by the third, half and pint. As on the edge of the shopping mall there is space for overspill outside on a concrete "no mans land" where they have put a few tables and benches. A welcome addition with variation to London’s beer scene. If you get the Docklands light railway to Stratford International it is that side of the shopping mall so saves a stressful walk through the shopping area! |
76 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY First of all this is in the Westfield Stratford, which frankly, having visited it once to go to Tap East, I’m highly unlikely to go again. Rammed full of people, so way too crowded for me on a Sunday. Tap East sits at the back in a very nice food hall, so if you’re going to visit any part of it, this bit was worthwhile. The bar is functional and not really great on the ambiance front, but it has a really good range of beers. Three cask taps featuring Tap East beers and then about 10 keg taps with some interesting choices. Fridges were really good and had a nice eclectic selection of bottles including lots of American, Italian, Norwegian and Danish choices. However, food was pretty bloody awful so do not order food in here. It looks like reheated burgers circa: before the gourmet burger was invented. Greasy burger, limp lettuce, microwaved bacon and dry bun. |
74 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Visited for the first time very recently, it is certainly in an unusual location for a UK Brewpub, not sure I have come across many others in a Shopping precinct. The beer range is, of course, very good and apparently changes quite often. I found it to be a little utilitarian though, just a little too cut down and uncomfortable to want to spend all afternoon in there. We just tried beers from the handpulls so cannot judge the bottles, but there looks to be a decent choice. We had food in the Tapas bar next door which was very good. All in all certainly worth a visit. |
80 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Was lucky enough to visit Tap East during the Olympics, was only there for a short time but was suitability impressed with what I found. For the size of the place it presented fair selection of draught and bottled beers including beer brewed on the premises. A perfect example of a small form craft bar, a must visit venue when in Stratford. |
74 /100 1 GREAT EASTERN MARKET, WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY Westfield in Stratford must be the biggest shopping centre I’ve ever seen. At the rear end, next to a Waitrose store, this oasis of a pub and microbrewery can be found. Medium-sized, four sided room with a modern decor. Three of their own, fine made ales on cask and three guest ales on cask. In addition a wide selection of ten beers on tap from breweries like Summer Wine, Brains and even from the Norwegian Haandbryggeriet. The range of bottled beers is also worth seeking out. Smiling and friendly service from a barmaid who was eager to offer samples of the Tap East brews. With a bus station, railway station and a tube station the pub/microbrewery is easy accessible. We took bus no.104 from Boleyn Ground and Upton Park (WHU-Man C 0-0) to Stratford and spent a few joyful hours here drinking well kept beers and eating a decent pepperoni pizza (visited, 03.11.2012). |
