“Occupying a red-brick end unit on the south side of the commercial street by the lights, it mostly has a canned UK selection with lots of local brewers represented as expected, but there's ample choice from up and down the country. Bottles do get a look-in with the lion share of these being from Northern Europe, brewers like Mallinsons also maintain a presence in the bottle.“

“Shop-unit cafe-bar opposite the Moor Top pub, with its own terrace space out front. It's probably the eats that bring people here but at the service area at the rear there's over a half a dozen keg ales available. Most are fairly familiar crafted brews but worthwhile ones.“

“Just up the road from the Epicurian bottle shop (q.v.), Nook - also known as Nook NC for Neighbourhood Coffee - is a cosy coffee shop that also serves beer. It's a bit too crowded to be comfortable on the Saturday before Christmas; there is plenty of seating outside which I'd imagine is more enticing in warmer weather. They have eight taps which offer beer from decent well-known outfits such as Wild Beer, Thornbridge and Beartown, plus a small fridge with bottles and cans such as Cloudwater. There were a few ticks available for me here, although there's little that you won't have seen before. But that's not the point. It's not a drinkers' bar but it's a friendly cafe where you can sip beer (or coffee) in pleasant if slightly cramped surroundings. Please note that Nook is cashless.“

“Small but packed with beer, the Epicurean bottle shop contains some delightful drinkable merchandise. The beer is categorised by country, and there is a fair bit of space dedicated to local and slightly farther afield Northern outfits. The American and European sections aren't huge but they have some surprises (some Half Acre, Põhjala and New Holland I'd not seen in the UK). Prices vary, and for those with a keen eye it's possible to pick up a handful of unbelievable bargains. There's another branch in Didsbury, not sure if further expansion is in their long-term plans but I'm glad I got a chance to shop here.“
