“My reward for walking the lavender field with the family. Service was spot on, was able to fill up a few growlers for me to enjoy. If I would have been able to stay it look like a nice location to sit back and enjoy some casks.“

“On the other side of the car park that is behind the town hall building, this pub occupies a single unit in a row of purpose built shops and is fairly camouflaged for it. Once you’re inside it is a place where you can relax in nice comfortable surroundings. The low ceiling throughout gives it a more intimate feel and although it’s not too wide it stretches back where a split level section opens out to provide some more comfortable seats and sofas away from the serving area. This is towards the front of the building and includes three real ale pumps on the bar, with 2 other ales available poured from elsewhere. All 5 ale clips are shown on the three ale pumps so don’t be put off by the doubling up of them. The style of the place is more bar than pub with a modern American touch fused with an Irish bar decor. This pub was used as one of the 12 in the pubcrawl movie ’The World’s End’, and they are proud of the fact with two big poster displays on a wall at the rear which photos of the main actors mingling with locals (some of which we recognised in the bar at during our visit), and newspaper clipping about the filming here. The payslip from the production for the use of the bar is also on show.“

Colonnade (Bar)
“Occupying the ground floor of a corner building at the apex of the two main pedestrian shopping streets, this is a large chain like pub which is open plan but with plenty of pillars creating defined areas on three sides of the bar. It’s one of three pub options in the town centre as is probably your next best option to finding ales of interest after the Wetherspoon which is only a couple of hundred yards away. The Wetherspoon is its main rival and has a similar style to it, although there’s lots more entertainment put on here to attract custom, so if you want to marry ales with either live football, karaoke or weekend dj’s then this is the place to come. It has six real ale pumps, two of which were occupied by seasonals on my visit and another with a cider. With Letchworth being a new town it’s very spacious and there’s plenty of breathing space in front of the pub which includes some tables to sit at, although they lose the sun in the afternoon. This pub was used in the filming of British movie ’The World’s End’.“

“On one of the two main shopping streets in the fairly pretty 20th century new town of Letchworth. It occupies one of many brick buildings for commercial purposes and is beside the entrance to The Arcades shopping centre. The look of this Wetherspoon will be very familiar with those used to the traditional late 20th century look of this chain and it’s a large and comfortable enough place to drink in, which is handy given there’s very few options in the town centre itself. As such this is probably your best place to find rotating real and craft brews which are on two rows of pumps at the bar to the far right after you enter. There’s no official outdoor area but a makeshift terrace is put out each day and given the wide avenue planning of the town even with this there’s still plenty of room for passing pedestrians. This pub was used for filming as one of the Golden Mile 12 in the 2013 movie ’The World’s End’.“

“Head straight out of the station down Broadway, don’t go left into the town centre (and McSpoons). About 200m, past a pukka curry house, then turn left, and it’s right there on a small parade of shops. Olde-style pub decor (admittedly faux low ceiling with dark wooden beams), Friendly staff, and a lovely local feel. When I was there there were 4 big name ales and a delicious Brains SA. The 3 guests rotate very slowly though, staying for whole seasons. Stilled and served well. If you have to go to Letchworth, end the evening here, even if you get forced/sucked into the McSpoons earlier to do some ticking. Seemed to have live music every Thursday night.“
